As a punishment, Bella's parents abandoned her in the middle of nowhere, calling it discipline. That they'd teach her to respect them the hard way.

• Whilst Bella never spoke to her parents again, that didn't mean she changed her opinion on them. Their cruelty is what shaped her. They were meant to care for her, but instead they neglected her. Bella doesn't seem why anyone else would be different, why anyone else would actually care for her.
