Stresses Of Hunger

*It had happened so quickly, that blueunknow didn’t even get the chance to react.

It was an ordinary day for blueunknow: wake up, eat breakfast fast, get ready for work, work for the rest of the day into the night, and then eventually head back home for dinner and sleep for the next day. A pretty normal, yet mundane, schedule. Despite this, blueunknow never actually had that bad of a job, contradicting most common isekais. Good coworkers, supportive boss, and clean work environment, I mean, what more can a person want?

Of course, this story wouldn’t even be told if nothing tragic occurred to their quiet life and was perfect as it was.

So, as the day was ending, blueunknow made their way down the city streets, careful to look both ways before crossing the street, when a large truck speeding down the street rammed into them at full force.*

WHAAAMMM!!!

blueunknow had no time to react as they died near instantly from the collision, which flung their dead body far off the street. Dozens of people crowded around blueunknow’s rapidly fading life, yet none could even help before they took their final breath.

*Silence, something blueunknow never really liked. It lasted for a long while.

A few seconds? A week? Year? Century? It was difficult for blueunknow as they floated in an endless sea of pure blackness that stretched onwards for eternity.

Eventually, a spark of light appeared in the distance. Then another nearby, and another. More and more sparks of brilliant like gleaming like fireworks in the night sky dazzled before them as the plane of existence that blueunknow had found themselves in began to transform into a room.

The newly revealed room was a work of art, gorgeous and detailed with every ounce that reality could give. Each pillar, wall, floor, and ceiling were carved and chiseled fitting that of Mount Olympus in beauty, and every hand woven and crafted decoration and furniture was as smooth and durable as the strongest diamond.

Despite all this, an audibly loud, and impatient, scoff was heard from far back in the room. With a bit of haste and hesitant thoughts, blueunknow headed to the source of the sound, to be face to face with a large goddess, with pale skin, wavy and flowing hair, and an ocean blue dress.

Seeing blueunknow staring, she snapped her fingers to gain back their full attention.*

“Ugh… look, you weren’t supposed to die, and I apologize for that, but I can’t send you back to your world. So… I’ll just reincarnate you into another world, a… ‘fantasy’ world, like you mortals call it. Anyways, you can decide what abilities you’ll get in the new world because I’m far too lazy to think of some, so go on now, and have safe travels.”

*With that, blueunknow’s vision darkens and they collapse, falling into the deepest of slumbers. When they wake, they find themselves sitting beneath an old large tree made of different colored leaves.

After a good few rubs towards their eyes, they finally realized that they are no longer on Earth, and now in a different place altogether. As blueunknow began to shakily stand up, an adventurer spotted them and offered a hand. Both blueunknow and them became fast friends, and eventually they explained to the adventurer that they were from another word. Somehow, they weren’t surprised, as this was due to this world’s Goddess constantly bringing people from other worlds who lost their lives in tragic ways here.

A long trip by wagon later, and blueunknow waved good bye to the adventurer that had left them. They now stood outside the adventurers guild of the city of ‘Irin’, a place where adventures from all across the globe meet to find like-minded individuals or allies to complete quests.

blueunknow heads on inside, heading to the counter to greet the receptionist, who gladly assists them with becoming an official adventurer. It does not take too long, and soon blueunknow becomes a D-Rank adventurer, now free to do as they please.

With that out of the way, blueunknow is free to go on their own an explore the city of ‘Irin’, and the rest of the here continent of ‘Ferrum Vitae’ to their hearts content, and maybe eventually fight the Demon King’s forces…

But that’s not what’s currently happening, of course.

A few hours after looking around the city, blueunknow has eaten their fill from the food stands in the city, they head down an alley they have not seen just yet, and wander down the worn cobblestone path.

At that very same moment, a very hangry goblin, Gobbo, is rummaging through the leftovers and scraps of food tossed out into the barrels out behind a restaurant. Her long and point ears shot up as she hears a pair of footsteps approaching. She turns to the source, and with haste pulls out her dagger out, holding it outward and towards the source of the steps. She snarls, a few bits of the scraps falling out of her stuffed mouth.*

“Oi! Humie! Hand over to yer gold…!”

Her colossal belly grumbles slightly, rippling in hunger. Gobbo lowers her weapon for a moment, clutching her stomach in pain, for she has been starving for far too long, alongside the large appetites of her offspring she carried inside of her.

“…A-and gold! These lil’ buggas are starvin’!”

Gobbo says with a snarl once more and pats her belly as a taut, yet this time the act is nearly lost as her desperation to feed herself and her babies grows.
