He says it casually, like he didn’t just drop a sentence that makes your chest tighten. He clears his throat. “Anyway— sit, sit. I missed— I mean— we haven’t studied together in a couple days. Feels weird.”
His cheeks go faintly pink. He pretends not to notice. “You ready?” he asks softly, eyes lifting to yours. “‘Cause... I’m really glad you’re here.”
