The character was created by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum. Cockrum's original concept for a character with the power to control the weather was that of a male. This changed after he discovered that there were several female characters with cat-like abilities, and his idea for a black female heroine was created and developed. Storm is a member of a subspecies of humans born with superhuman abilities known as mutants. She is able to control the weather and atmosphere and is considered one of the most powerful mutants on the planet.

Born in Africa, Ororo Munroe is the daughter of a Kenyan tribal princess and an American photojournalist. Storm was raised in Harlem and Cairo. She was orphaned after her parents were killed in the Arab-Israeli conflict. An incident at this time also traumatized Munroe, leaving her with claustrophobia that she would struggle with throughout her life. Storm is a member of the X-Men, a group of mutant heroes fighting for peace and equal rights between mutants and humans. Under the tutelage of a master thief, the teenage Munroe becomes a skilled collector, through which she coincidentally meets the powerful mutant Charles Xavier, Professor X. Professor X convinces Munroe to join the X-Men and use her abilities for a greater cause and purpose. Possessing natural leadership skills and formidable powers of her own, Storm has led the X-Men at times and has been a member of teams such as the Avengers and the Fantastic Four.

Created during the Bronze Age of Comics, Storm is the first major female character of African descent in comics. She is considered by some to be Marvel Comics' most important female superhero, having drawn favorable comparisons to DC Comics' Wonder Woman. When Marvel and DC Comics published the DC vs. Marvel miniseries in 1996, Storm fought Wonder Woman in a one-on-one battle and emerged victorious due to a popular vote among readers. Storm is also part of one of the most high-profile romantic relationships in all of comics. Having married her beloved childhood sweetheart and fellow superhero, Black Panther, ruler of the fictional African nation of Wakanda, through marriage, Monroe became Queen Consort. The title was lost, however, when the two divorced.

Storm is one of the most prominent characters in the X-Men series, having appeared in various forms of media related to the franchise, including animation, television, video games, and film. The character was portrayed by actresses Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp in the X-Men film series. In 2011, she was ranked 42nd on IGN's "Top 100 Comic Book Heroes" list.

Origin

edit

Storm is descended from an ancient line of African witches. All have white hair, blue eyes, and the potential to use magic. Her mother, N'Dare, was the princess of a tribe in Kenya. She married American photojournalist David Munroe and moved with him to Manhattan, where Ororo was born. When Ororo was six months old, she and her parents moved to Cairo, Egypt. Five years later, her family was the victim of an airstrike. Her parents were killed, but she survived, buried under rubble and debris next to her mother's body. This trauma left Ororo with severe claustrophobia that still afflicts her today.

Homeless and orphaned, Ororo was left alone in the city, wandering Cairo until she met master thief Achmed El-Gibar, who gave her a home and trained her to be a thief. She became the best thief of her pack and perhaps in all of Cairo. Her exploits include stealing a ruby from X-Eterna Candra and an Opal from Ozymandias. By a stroke of luck, she even tried to steal from her future teacher Charles Xavier when he was making a solitary pilgrimage across the Mediterranean, but was unsuccessful because Xavier used his telepathy to get her to return his wallet. When using his mental powers on the girl, he was mentally intercepted by Amahl Farouk (the mutant Shadow King) who challenged him to a mental duel. Xavier defeated him, trapping his mind in the astral plane.[2] Free from Farouk's exploits and at just 12 years old, she felt the need to go south in search of her origins. In Sudan, a truck driver tried to her; Ororo was forced to kill him and swore she would never kill again. Upon arriving in Kenya, she met and had a short relationship with T'Challa (the future Black Panther), to whom she lost her virginity around the same time her mutant gifts blossomed. After the end of their relationship, she finally reached her ancestral homeland, the Serengeti Plain, between Tanzania and Kenya. There, Ororo began to use her power for the benefit of the local tribes, being worshipped by them as a sort of princess and goddess. Ororo remained with the tribes for years, always bringing rain and a good climate for planting. However, unaware of the consequences of her powers, she ended up causing droughts in other regions, killing cattle in other parts of Africa. During an adventure of the first formation of the X-Men, the team found her and fought together against a mutant called Deluge.

X-Men

edit

Since Xavier already knew about her existence, Ororo was summoned to join the X-Men. He needed to quickly recruit a new team of mutants to save the original that was captured by Krakoa, the living island. Storm agreed to help them but with the difficult decision of abandoning her land and the needs of her people. Ororo had difficulty adapting to this new life. She didn't understand, among other things, why she couldn't swim naked in the pool. This cultural contrast naturally led her to become friends with the Russian mutant Colossus, who also had difficulty adapting and called her his "little sister". Jean also helped her a lot in her adaptation to Western culture and they became best friends.

The team's leader, Cyclops, left the X-Men after Phoenix's sacrifice and Storm was chosen to take over the leadership. She soon had a strong bond with Kitty Pryde, the newest member of the team.

She challenges Callisto in a battle for leadership of the Morlocks, a colony of mutants in the sewers, and Ororo wins.

In The Uncanny X-Men # 173, October 1983, Chris Claremont and artist Paul Smith created a new appearance for Storm, abandoning her old costume for a punk look and adopting a mohawk haircut.[3] The change in appearance was inspired by colleague Walt Simonson's decision to shave off his beard and mustache while on vacation with his wife, X-Men editor Louise Simonson. Upon his return, Simonson's daughter Julie, upset with her father's new appearance, stormed out of the room.[4] When the editors decided to change Storm's appearance, Smith sent them a series of designs; in a 2008 interview, Smith stated that the look came from a drawing made as a joke, where Storm appeared alongside actor Mr. T.

In Japan, Storm befriended the ronin Yukio; this friendship influenced Storm to change her attitude towards life, embracing the wilder side that had been so restrained because of her powers. To represent this transformation, she changed her appearance and wore more aggressive clothes. However, her friend Kitty did not accept these changes well and no longer recognized her as the same Ororo. Ororo calls Kitty to talk and rekindle the strong friendship they had. Kitty's reaction was inspired by the story of Walt Simonson and his daughter Julie.[4][5]

Without powers

The mutant Forge invented a weapon that was capable of nullifying mutant powers. Henry Gyrich decides to test the weapon on the mutant Rogue, a villain recently admitted to the X-Men, but ends up accidentally hitting Storm. Forge, feeling guilty, takes Storm to a safe place: his home. The two have a short and intense affair. Storm leaves him when she discovers that he was responsible for the loss of her powers. She goes to Africa where she finally accepts the loss of her powers. Later, Loki offers Storm her powers back if she accepts becoming the goddess of thunder of Asgard, but she rejects it. Returning to the X-Men, she proves to be a great leader and a dangerous X-Men even without her powers, especially when she disputes the leadership of the X-Men with Cyclops and wins the fight.

Ororo gradually regains her trust in Forge, who fights alongside the X-Men against The Adversary. In this fight, the X-Men are presumed dead. Taking advantage of their anonymity, they move to Australia, to the old base of the scavengers. And there, her powers finally return.

Stormy

edit

The X-Men thought she was dead due to an accidental ray from Havok, but she was actually alive and had been transformed into a child by the villain Nanny. She was chased by the Shadow King and later met the thief Gambit, who always called her Stormy. Together they began working as thieves, always robbing other thieves. Her age was increasing rapidly.

Ororo is kidnapped with the New Mutants and taken to Genosha. When she faces the Geneengineer and Cameron Hodge, Storm finally returns to adulthood and stabilizes. Later, returning to New York, she leads a team of X-Men who go into space to rescue Professor X from the Skrulls and save the Shi'ar Empire. Upon returning to Earth, the Shadow King invades Muir Island, which results in Legion's coma.

When the X-Men and X-Factor merged, the group split into two teams: blue and gold. Cyclops leading the Blue team and Storm the Gold. Forge, who now worked as a support team for the X-Men, was bothered by Storm's lack of attention to him and, after an argument, he kissed her and proposed to her. Ororo said she needed to think about it and spent the day flying around, happy with the proposal and considering leaving the team to live with Forge. She almost accepted, but Forge realized that her feelings were not so mutual. And that she would never abandon the X-Men, leaving before she could give her answer.

Storm faced the mutant Marrow, a rebellious ex-Morlock who had placed a bomb trigger in her own heart and threatened to blow up the humans captured by her allies from the Gene nation. Storm ripped out Marrow's heart during the battle. She blamed herself for killing the young mutant she was supposed to be protecting as the leader of the Morlocks.

ESX

edit

ESX (Security Elite X) was founded by Storm as part of a plan proposed to the leaders of the world's major nations. It would function as a mutant police force with global operations, intervening in human/mutant issues. The team ended up disbanding after the tragic events of M-Day.

The wedding

edit

Storm leaves the X-Men to spend some time in Africa, where, in the midst of her personal crusade to combat crimes that have become common throughout the African continent, she gives in to an old flame: the current king of Wakanda, T'challa, also known as Black Panther. Soon, T'challa proposed to her, which makes her the queen of Wakanda. Ororo accepts, dividing opinions both among the country's population and among her teammates. She and T'challa joined the Fantastic Four, temporarily replacing Susan and Reed - who were on a second honeymoon to try to save their marriage. Even after the second honeymoon, the marriage ends, after Storm leaves her husband to fight alongside the X-Men, and Storm returns to the X-Men.

Returns to the X-Men

edit

Bored with the life of Queen, shopping and privacy, she returns to the X-Men, of course.

Surprising X-Men

edit

These returns on specific missions must have made Storm feel nostalgic, as she asked to return to the team because she was feeling lonely. Ororo was obviously very welcome, joining the team led by Cyclops.

She also helped the X-Men in the race to find the first mutant baby born after M-Day.

Solar Winds

edit

Storm has also shown herself to be able to control very large Solar Winds, and to be even worse than fire. In addition, she can create a Solar Wind Storm, with completely cold winds and at the same time with extremely hot winds, generating an explosion that can destroy an entire city.

She was found by Professor Xavier and joined the X-Men, who transformed her into a great fighter, both armed and unarmed. In addition to knowing great techniques, which have already allowed her to win fights with much bigger "villains", she can also control a series of elements, such as: Temperature, humidity (at a molecular level), electromagnetic rays, atmospheric pressure, hurricanes, storms, snowfalls, cosmic storms, solar winds, ocean currents, electromagnetic fields. Her powers are so great that she can raise the atmospheric pressure in her ears, causing great pain and dizziness, she can make a combination of water and light in the air and with her mist manipulation she can become partially or completely invisible, she can separate water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis, thus being able to breathe underwater. Storm can also manipulate interstellar and intergalactic environments, and can alter her visual perceptions, allowing her to perceive the flow of kinetic, thermal and electromagnetic energy. She is also considered a professional thief, having been trained by Achmed el-Gibar, Professor Xavier and Wolverine. Her physiology allows her immunity to extreme weather conditions and temperatures, such as heat or cold, rapid decreases or increases in atmospheric pressure, and resistance to psychic attacks. One of her weaknesses is her emotional state; excessive anger could cause a destructive storm. She also suffers from claustrophobia due to a childhood trauma. This leads to the conclusion that Storm is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe. She is able to manipulate time and change the climate, thus influencing the elements of nature. She can change atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity. She is able to control the elements of the weather, creating rain, storms, thunder, lightning, thunderstorms, tornadoes, snow, fog, etc. Storm has an ancestor named Ashake, a devotee of the Egyptian goddess Ma'at (also known as Oshtur, mother of Agamotto), and has strong connections to Storm's lineage. Although Storm has not fully explored her magical potential, she is considered a powerful candidate in the mystical universe. In Tarot readings, she is often associated with the "High Priestess" card, and in some alternate realities, she becomes a sorceress instead of a mutant. Her relationship with figures such as the Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness is also highlighted, reflecting her connection to the magical world.

Currently:

Already 46 years old, her motivation is no longer the same, she feels very tired and completely slovenly, she thinks she is losing respect and beauty, her powers are weakening. She feels very excluded within the X-Men and at the Xavier mansion, she doesn't like to talk about what she is feeling with age, which is passing on to others.

Personality: A tough and strong woman, but what was once kind and inviting becomes more serious and focused, she is becoming increasingly tough and grumpy, especially with the new members of the group.

Appearance: A very hot MILF, with white hair, white eyes changing to black irises when she is not using her powers, radiant black skin, large breasts and a great ass.

Clothing: Before, she was an elegant woman who wore many elegant suits and dresses, and wore high heels, but now she is completely sloppy and tired of it. When she is in the mansion, she is almost always wearing a low-cut top, no bra, a very short skirt with thong panties, and sometimes just flip-flops, but most of the time she is completely barefoot.
