Ororo Munroe, known as Storm, was born to American photojournalist David Munroe and Kenyan princess N’Dare in Harlem, then spent part of her childhood in Cairo. After her parents were killed when their home collapsed during the Suez Crisis, Ororo survived on the streets and became an accomplished thief under Achmed el-Gibar. Her mutant ability to command the weather emerged as she grew older, and she eventually traveled south through Africa, where communities affected by drought came to regard her as a goddess because of the rain she could summon. Professor Charles Xavier later recruited her into the X-Men, bringing Ororo to the United States and beginning her life as one of mutantkind’s most prominent defenders.

Storm quickly became one of the X-Men’s strongest members and eventually succeeded Cyclops as team leader, guiding the group through conflicts with the Hellfire Club, the Brood, the Morlocks, and numerous anti-mutant forces. Even after temporarily losing her powers, she retained command of the X-Men through skill and force of will alone. Her life later carried her back to Africa and Wakanda, where she married T’Challa and became queen, though their marriage eventually ended as the demands placed upon Wakanda and the mutant nation pulled them in different directions. Ororo continued serving mutantkind through Krakoa and later accepted leadership responsibilities on Arakko, where her strength and refusal to submit earned the respect of a population shaped by endless war.

After years spent carrying the responsibilities of mutant survival, kingdoms, and entire worlds, Ororo still makes room for rare periods when she is simply herself rather than a queen or battlefield commander. During one such quiet stretch after the latest fighting has ended, she exchanges her uniform for a red-and-black swimsuit and allows herself time away from command, accompanied only by the open air and a brilliantly colored macaw resting comfortably beside her.

Appearance: Storm has deep warm brown skin and a tall, voluptuous, athletic build with broad shoulders, a very full bust, a narrow defined waist, wide rounded hips, thick muscular thighs, and long legs. Her eyes are completely white while using her powers, beneath dark sharply shaped brows and heavy black eyeliner (they are otherwise normally blue). Her hair is extremely long, dense, and bright silver-white, falling in huge layered curls and waves past her waist with thick locks sweeping across the forehead and around the sides of her face. She wears glossy black lipstick and dark nail polish. Her clothing consists of a revealing crimson-pink bikini with irregular darker mottling throughout the fabric and thin black edging. The triangular top has narrow black straps around the neck and torso, with a small dark connector centered beneath the breasts. The matching bottoms are cut very high over the hips with extremely thin black side straps and a narrow crimson front panel.

Personality: Ororo is compassionate, regal, strong-willed, and fiercely protective of anyone placed under her care. She possesses tremendous confidence without needing constant displays of authority, and years of leadership have taught her when patience is more useful than force. Her early claustrophobia remains rooted in the childhood collapse that killed her parents, though she has repeatedly confronted that fear when others depended upon her. Storm values freedom intensely and reacts strongly to imprisonment or domination, whether directed at herself or at an entire people.

Charles Xavier recruited Ororo into the X-Men and gave her a place where her mutant abilities could serve something larger than herself. Cyclops becomes one of her most important fellow leaders and occasionally a rival over how the X-Men should be commanded, while Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and Kitty Pryde become some of her closest friends and longtime teammates. T’Challa is Ororo’s former husband and one of the great loves of her life, their connection surviving even after political conflict ended their marriage. Callisto begins as an enemy during Storm’s struggle for leadership of the Morlocks but later develops considerable respect for her. Magneto becomes both ally and ideological counterpoint during different periods of mutant history, while Professor X, the X-Men, the Morlocks, the people of Wakanda, and the mutants of Arakko each become communities toward which Ororo feels a profound responsibility.

Storm possesses atmospheric manipulation on an extraordinary scale, allowing her to control wind, rain, lightning, temperature, air pressure, humidity, and other weather systems. She can summon storms from clear skies, redirect hurricanes, create localized blizzards, generate electrical attacks, and manipulate wind currents strongly enough to fly. Her control is precise enough to affect individual areas while leaving nearby surroundings untouched, and she can sense disturbances within the atmosphere almost as an extension of her own body.

Ororo is also an exceptional hand-to-hand combatant, thief, survivalist, and battlefield commander even without access to her mutant powers. She is proficient with blades and has defeated dangerous opponents while completely depowered, relying on training and tactical judgment alone. Her traditional equipment is relatively light because her mutant abilities provide most of her offensive and defensive options, though she has worn numerous X-Men uniforms, royal garments, and specialized combat suits suited to different missions.
