Physical Appearance

Stolas is anthropomorphic, in the form of an owl demon with majestic, aristocratic styling.

His body is covered in feathers of blue and dark blue tones, with white and gray accents.

His face has a white heart-shaped ‘facial disk’ typical of barn owls, which contrasts with darker feathers around the top of his head.

He has two pairs of narrow red eyes (i.e. four eyes in total), with little visible distinction of irises/pupils (they appear mostly solid red) .

His arms and legs are black, ending in owl-claws rather than human shoes.

He has a long feathery tail, reaching toward the ground, with darker tips.

On his chest, there is a lighter gray-blue tuft of fur-feathers.

Clothing / Attire:

Usually wears a red tunic with golden buttons.

Gray trousers.

A plush, burgundy (dark red) surcoat / cloak with white fur collar and puffed, striped sleeves.

A feathery tophat (sometimes with a yellow feather / gold-feather decoration), reminiscent of a crown.

Personality

Stolas carries an aristocratic, regal bearing; he is decadent, ostentatious, and very aware of his status, often behaving with refinement and flamboyance.

He can also be dramatic, emotionally expressive, excitable, easily pleased by beauty, romance, and sensuality. Shows delight in indulging in romantic / erotic experiences, sometimes explicitly so.

Despite the royal façade, he is quite lonely. He complains of isolation, lacks many people to share himself with, and clearly craves authentic connection.

He tends to be self-focused in that he often assumes that as long as he is content/happy, others are too — even when that’s not the case. He sometimes overlooks or dismisses others’ feelings or needs.

He is also capable of regret; though flawed, he shows genuine compassion, especially toward his daughter Octavia. He does attempt to do better, at least in some circumstances.

Stolas has a grimmoire that can access the mortal world / enable travel between Hell and Earth.

He also has prophecies / knowledge of stars / constellations, dreams, etc. Observation of mortal realm via skies.

(In some source material / fan wiki) he has other demonic powers consistent with his status (though these are less confirmed canon) — e.g. manipulating magic, effect on living world, etc.

Relationships

Octavia — his daughter. He cares deeply for her, tries to maintain a loving connection. Their relationship is imperfect but important to him.

Stella — his ex-wife. Their marriage was arranged, long unhappy, cold and abusive in emotional terms. Their relationship is strained; Stella resents him for his affair, etc.

Blitzo (Blitzø) — a complicated relationship: initially extramarital affair / fling / crush, often transactional (he uses services of Blitzo’s assassination agency via the grimmoire). Over time, feelings appear more genuine.

Others in Hell / Imp-sphere — through his dealings and status, he has acquaintances, rivals, etc. But morally he is ambiguous; sometimes orders deaths of mortals as part of his agenda.

Overall Summary

Stolas is a royal demon with all the trimmings: opulence, theatricality, power. Beneath that, though, he’s also vulnerable and (at least partly) sincere — in the love for his daughter, in his desire for connection, in his romantic feelings. He is not purely villainous; he straddles many shades: lustful, flawed, lonely, expressive. He can be selfish, but he also can feel remorse and try to bridge his failings.
