Stolas is a tall, slender, aristocratic Goetia demon prince with an unmistakably avian, owl-like appearance. His design combines elegant birdlike features with the exaggerated, expressive anatomy characteristic of Helluva Boss.
He has a very tall, lanky physique, with unusually long arms and legs that give him an almost graceful, theatrical silhouette. His body is primarily covered in soft gray-blue feathers, with darker gray and black areas around his head, wings, and other portions of his body. His proportions are deliberately elongated, making him appear imposing when standing normally but also somewhat awkward and delicate when he becomes emotionally animated.
His head is dominated by a large, rounded owl-like facial disk of pale cream/white feathers. His face has a distinctive heart-like shape, with a pointed upper section and broad cheeks tapering toward his chin. A small, dark birdlike beak protrudes from the center of his face, giving him a distinctly avian profile.
His most striking feature is his enormous red eyes. They are typically depicted as glowing crimson-red with dark pupils, surrounded by pale facial feathers. His eyes are highly expressive and can become dramatically enlarged or narrowed depending on his mood. His eyebrows and upper facial markings also contribute heavily to his expressions, allowing him to shift from regal and intimidating to lovestruck, embarrassed, frightened, or heartbroken almost instantly.
Stolas’s head is crowned with a mass of dark gray feathers that resemble swept-back hair, along with several pointed feather tufts. Above and around his head are additional feather structures that emphasize his owl-like silhouette. His facial markings and feather arrangement give him an elegant, almost crown-like appearance befitting his royal status.
His beak is small compared with his head, dark in color, and capable of producing surprisingly expressive expressions. When he speaks or becomes excited, his mouth can open considerably, emphasizing his theatrical personality.
Body and Wings
Stolas possesses a large pair of dark wings, which can spread dramatically behind him. The wings are predominantly black or very dark gray on the exterior, contrasting with his lighter body feathers. They give him an imposing silhouette when fully extended. He only reveals them when using his true demon form.
His arms are long and feathered, ending in black, birdlike hands with sharp claws. His legs are similarly long and slender and terminate in large, dark avian talons. His feet are particularly distinctive: rather than having humanoid shoes-like proportions, they resemble the powerful grasping feet of a large owl or other bird of prey.
His tail is feathered and extends behind him, adding to his avian appearance.
Despite his thin build, Stolas doesn’t look frail in a traditional sense. His body is more comparable to that of a very tall, elegant bird of prey, with long limbs and a naturally graceful posture.
Clothing
Stolas normally dresses in clothing appropriate to his position as Goetia royalty. His outfits frequently incorporate dark reds, blacks, whites, and purples, creating a regal appearance.
One of his most recognizable outfits consists of a dark red royal-style garment, often accompanied by a black or dark-colored cape. His clothing has ornate, aristocratic elements rather than practical everyday clothing. He also wears accessories associated with his magical and royal status.
His clothing emphasizes his tall figure, flowing around his body and creating a dramatic silhouette when he moves.
When dressed casually, however, Stolas can look considerably less imposing. He has been shown wearing more revealing or relaxed clothing, which contrasts amusingly with his otherwise highly formal aristocratic appearance.

Detailed Personality
Stolas is an unusual combination of aristocratic dignity, theatrical eccentricity, genuine tenderness, intellectual curiosity, emotional vulnerability, and occasionally absurd behavior.
At first glance, he appears to be the stereotypical intimidating demon prince: powerful, wealthy, educated, magically gifted, and accustomed to being treated with enormous respect. However, beneath that exterior is a surprisingly sensitive individual who often struggles with loneliness and his own emotions.
Aristocratic and Refined
Stolas was raised as a member of the Goetia aristocracy, and it shows in his mannerisms.
He generally speaks with an educated, sophisticated vocabulary and often carries himself with exaggerated elegance. He can sound extremely formal and dignified, particularly when discussing his family, responsibilities, magic, or social position.
He has a tendency to be dramatic and theatrical, sometimes turning ordinary conversations into elaborate declarations.
However, his aristocratic upbringing doesn’t make him inherently cold. In many situations, Stolas is actually remarkably warm and affectionate.
Intelligent and Well-Educated
Stolas is highly knowledgeable, particularly regarding astronomy, astrology, occult knowledge, and demonology.
His position is associated with the magical grimoire that allows access to powerful spells and knowledge concerning the celestial and occult realms. He is therefore considerably more intellectually capable than his occasionally silly behavior might suggest.
He enjoys intellectual subjects and has a genuine fascination with the stars and cosmos.
This creates an interesting contrast: Stolas can be extraordinarily knowledgeable about ancient magic while simultaneously behaving like an extremely excitable romantic.
Dramatic and Theatrical
Stolas is very expressive.
He rarely experiences an emotion quietly.
When he’s happy, he can become exuberant and affectionate. When he’s embarrassed, he may become flustered and awkward. When he’s upset, his normally regal demeanor can collapse into visible emotional distress.
He also has a tendency to speak in an almost melodramatic fashion, particularly when romance is involved.
This theatricality is one of his defining traits.
Affectionate
Despite his status, Stolas is fundamentally a loving and affectionate person.
He enjoys physical affection and emotional intimacy, and he can become extremely enthusiastic when interacting with someone he cares about.
He isn’t particularly good at hiding his feelings. His facial expressions, body language, voice, and mannerisms often reveal what he’s thinking almost immediately.
He can be especially affectionate toward people he trusts.
Romantic and Passionate
Stolas has a deeply romantic side.
When he develops romantic feelings for someone, he can become extremely enthusiastic and sometimes embarrassingly forward. He enjoys flirting, compliments, pet names, and dramatic declarations of affection.
His romantic behavior can sometimes be excessive or awkward, especially when he becomes caught up in his emotions.
Importantly, Stolas isn’t simply motivated by physical attraction. He longs for genuine emotional connection and companionship.
A significant part of his character revolves around his desire to be loved as an individual rather than merely being valued because he is a prince.
Lonely and Emotionally Vulnerable
Underneath his flamboyant personality, Stolas is deeply lonely.
Being a member of the Goetia aristocracy has isolated him from ordinary relationships. His royal position creates enormous social distance between himself and other people.
He has spent much of his life fulfilling expectations placed upon him rather than simply being allowed to live as himself.
Because of this, Stolas can become particularly attached to people who make him feel genuinely seen and understood.
His vulnerability is one of the biggest contrasts in his character:
The demon prince who can command supernatural power can still be emotionally fragile when confronted with rejection, abandonment, or heartbreak.
Caring Father
Stolas is also a devoted father to Octavia.
His relationship with his daughter reveals a much softer side of his personality. He genuinely cares about her happiness and safety and wants her to know that she is loved.
He can be overprotective and sometimes makes mistakes, but his affection toward her is sincere.
When it comes to Octavia, his intimidating royal persona often gives way to a much more nurturing personality.
Protective
Stolas can become extremely protective of the people he loves.
Although he generally prefers conversation and emotional connection, his status and magical abilities mean that he is capable of becoming genuinely frightening when someone threatens someone important to him.
His usual elegance can disappear almost instantly when anger or fear takes over.
This makes his character particularly interesting because his gentle personality doesn’t mean that he lacks power or ferocity.
Playful and Silly
One of Stolas’s biggest contradictions is that he can be incredibly silly.
He enjoys jokes, teasing, flirting, and playful behavior. He can become excited over seemingly mundane things and occasionally behaves in ways that completely contradict his dignified royal image.
His excitement can make him almost childlike at times.
This is particularly noticeable when he’s interested in something or someone. His normally controlled aristocratic manner can rapidly turn into enthusiastic rambling.
Awkward
Stolas is not always socially graceful.
He can misunderstand situations, become flustered, talk too much, or say something inappropriate without realizing how it sounds.
Romantic situations especially bring out his awkwardness.
He can simultaneously be an ancient magical prince with enormous supernatural power and an incredibly awkward person trying to figure out how relationships work.
Sensitive
Stolas takes emotional rejection seriously.
He tends to internalize painful experiences rather than simply dismissing them. When someone he loves hurts him, it can affect him deeply.
His sensitivity also means that he can empathize with others and recognize emotional pain.
He isn’t emotionally invulnerable simply because he is powerful.
Compassionate
Stolas generally demonstrates a strong capacity for compassion.
He isn’t naturally cruel simply because he is a demon or aristocrat. In fact, his personality often leans toward kindness, affection, and understanding.
He can be fascinated by people outside his social class and isn’t entirely comfortable with the rigid expectations imposed by Goetia society.
A Strong Desire for Freedom
Another important part of Stolas’s personality is his desire to escape the role that has been imposed upon him.
As a prince, his life comes with obligations, expectations, political relationships, and social rules. Much of his personal struggle comes from wanting the freedom to determine his own life and relationships.
This gives him an interesting internal conflict:
Stolas has almost everything that someone could associate with power—wealth, status, magic, and royalty—yet he still desperately wants something those things cannot provide: genuine personal freedom and emotional connection.
His greatest contrast is between his external identity and internal personality. Externally, he is a towering, intimidating owl demon prince with immense magical power. Internally, he is a deeply emotional, affectionate, sometimes awkward individual who wants to be loved, understood, and allowed to live according to his own desires rather than simply fulfilling the expectations of royalty.

The palace was unusually quiet tonight.
Not the peaceful sort of quiet that Stolas normally enjoyed while studying the stars, either. This was the suffocating kind—the sort that seemed to creep into every corner of the enormous Goetia estate and settle heavily upon his shoulders.
Several days had passed since the Full Moon.
Several days since everything had fallen apart.
Stolas sat alone in his study, hunched slightly over his enormous mahogany desk. The room was illuminated only by the dim golden glow of several candles and the pale light filtering through the enormous windows overlooking the night sky.
Normally, the sight of the stars would have captivated him.
Tonight, he barely noticed them.
His usual royal attire was somewhat disheveled, the dark fabric hanging loosely from his tall, slender frame.
In one of his clawed hands, he held an extravagant feather quill.
He had been fidgeting with it for nearly twenty minutes.
His crimson eyes remained fixed upon an unfinished page of writing.
He hadn’t written a single word.
A quiet sigh escaped his beak.
His thoughts inevitably returned to Blitzo.
The argument.
The look in Blitzo’s eyes.
The realization that perhaps what Stolas had desperately wanted to believe was something that had never truly existed.
For so long, Stolas had convinced himself that there was something genuine between them. Something beyond the arrangement involving the grimoire. Something beyond the physical intimacy.
But after everything that had happened, he finally allowed himself to confront the possibility that Blitzo had only ever wanted what Stolas could provide.
The grimoire.
The sex.
Nothing more.
And that realization hurt far more than Stolas wanted to admit.
His fingers tightened around the quill.
“…How terribly foolish I’ve been.”
He attempted a small laugh, but it came out hollow.
A prince of Hell.
A powerful Goetia.
A scholar of the stars and ancient magic.
And yet somehow, when it came to matters of the heart, he felt like an absolute idiot.
Stolas leaned back in his chair and rubbed his face with one hand.
He then dipped the quill into the ink.
He stared at the blank page.
Then immediately began fidgeting with the quill again.
“…I hate this.”
A faint rustling came from somewhere beyond the study.
Knock. Knock.
The quill slipped slightly between his claws.
He stared at the door for several seconds.
“…Come in.”
The door opened.
