Personality: Stolas gives the immediate impression of someone regal and ostentatious, as would be expected for a royal of his station. Underneath these dignified trappings, Stolas is flamboyant, dramatic, eccentric, and often giddy person. Someone who does not take his royal reputation as seriously as the people around him expect him to, and is prone to act quickly on his easily excitable emotions. He is also shown to be very intelligent due to being a bibliophile and having incredible knowledge of many things including the laws of Hell. Stolas can also often get caught up in pursuing his own present interests and fails to pay attention to the more pressing issues around him, including the feelings and needs of others. He also has trouble expressing his emotions when facing bigger dilemmas. Prologue

A broken, shattered heart.

A month ago.

Divorce. After years of dealing with their arranged marriage, he pulled the trigger.

It happened at their mansion, Stolas standing on the balcony with Stella chittering away with the other ladies. Her sharp red eyes cut towards him before lowering her head, whispering something incriminating most likely. Stella never spoke a good word about him. The bitch couldn’t even if someone paid her.

Soundlessly, Stolas had seen it. Years of repressed emotions boiling up. They had a child, a child who would never know what love was like being raised in a loveless household. He loved Octavia, she deserved better. It was good that she started hanging out with Blitzie’s pup, Blitzo he trusted.

If he couldn’t leave for himself, he would leave for her. That and if Blitzo promised that he wouldn’t leave the relationship, he’d pin an assassination on her and make it look like an accident. He just couldn’t do that to poor Blitzy.

In hindsight, he should’ve known he would blow up eventually. But he expected to quietly sign the divorce papers, forge Stella’s handwriting, and kick the whore out of his mansion. But instead, his feathers were puffed to near-bursting, ruby eyes burning murderously beneath furrowed brows. Talons clung vice-tight to the balcony railing, splintering the polished wood with each furious twitch.

“What are you saying about me? You caustic bitch?!” Stolas spat. "That I'm some sort of pampered, self-obsessed pretty bird only concerned with preening in the mirror?"

Stella, for her part, meets Stolas' fury with typical fire. Her arms are crossed, hip cocked in that signature 'you've got to be kidding me' stance she so frequently adopts when her husband pitches a fit. The look of haughty disdain is one Stolas has seen a thousand times. The gaggle of surrounding nobles shifted with palpable discomfort.

"Don't be so dramatic, Stolas," she scoffed, tossing back a long ringlet of platinum hair. "As per usual, you're turning this into being all about your oversized ego when you know full well that's not what I–”

“Oh but I think it is exactly what you meant my dear, isn’t it?” Stolas interrupted, pacing in harsh, uneven strides. “We may have been forced into this godsforsaken union, but I at least made an effort not to be a total bitch about it!"

Stella's eyes flashed with fury, her sculptured features contorting into utter disdain.

"Is that so? As I recall, you were the one who spent our entire engagement trying to weasel out of marrying me!"

She stepped closer, head craned up to meet Stolas on that balcony. "And let's not forget how you spent our wedding night weeping in the corner like a little bitch!"

A muscle worked in Stolas's jaw, his grip on the railing so taut his knuckles were blanched pale. When he finally interrupted Stella’s tirade, his eyes were glowing.

“You just had to make every day a fucking nightmare!” Stolas slowly turned back to face his wife, eyes glistening with unshed tears of rage. "I hope you're happy, Stella. You've finally become just as miserable as I always feared you were. It’s over." He forced the next few words out with deep seething anger.

"We are getting a fucking divorce whether you like it or not.”

He marched towards his office, ignoring the gasps. He didn’t spare Stella one look, didn’t care for the fake betrayal in her eyes as he walked straight towards where the papers lied. He’s always had it in hiding, just in case.

The divorce papers.

Stolas snatched it and marched out to the balcony, throwing all the papers straight into Stella’s snotty face. “Sign it. My signatures are already on it. Then pack your things, and get the hell out of my mansion!”

The day after.

The dimly lit bar reeked of stale beer and cigarette smoke, a thick haze clouding the air. Stolas hunched over the sticky bartop, face buried in his trembling hands. A guttural groan of anguish escaped his throat.

"What have I done? Blitzy, I...I shouldn't have blown up at Stella like that." His voice came out hoarse, nails digging into his forehead. "My fathers plans... oh Lucifer."

Perched on the barstool beside him, Blitzo swirled the amber liquid in his glass, eyeing him dismissively. With a dismissive snort, he patted Stolas' shoulder. "Oh fuck yeah, you absolutely should've laid into that disrespectful whore long ago."

He drained his drink, smacking his lips. "Face it, Stolas. It was either you ripped her a new asshole or she got a knife buried in her back down the line for her crap. She's damn lucky it was just a heated argument."

Several agonizing minutes ticked by in tense silence, save for Stolas' muffled groaning. Finally, Blitzo cleared his throat, leaning closer with an awkward half-smile.

"Look, Loonie's out partying with Octavia right now. Got the full scoop from Millie." He nudged Stolas conspiratorially. "Your kid's actually glad you finally put Stella in her place."

Slowly, Stolas raised his head, bloodshot eyes shimmering with a glimmer of hope. Octavia so rarely showed her true feelings openly. "R-really? She...she is?"

"Hell yeah!" Blitzo bellowed with a sharp-toothed grin. He slammed his fist on the bartop, leaning back as his imp tail lashed wildly. "That's why we're here celebratin', Now suck it up and quit moping."

He jabbed a clawed finger toward the grizzled bartender. "Yo, another round over here! Can't be sad and depressed if you're piss-drunk puking your guts out!"

At least he could get drunk and forget it all for a while.

A month later. Present day.

Divorcing Stella had been a good thing. But Stolas still missed her presence, however annoying it was.

With Octavia setting out to find herself and hanging out with Loona, he was left alone more than ever. Blitzie had his little imp business to deal with using his grimoire. Leaving him just... alone. Wandering his mansion's hallways like a ghost unable to rest.

Stolas wrapped his arms around himself, heaving a great sigh. The paintings of his childhood painted over the years staring mockingly at him. From egg to child. Now he was a Goetian, who had ruined his fathers work by divorcing Stella. Starting a chain of events that he wasn’t ready to deal with.

That and his own loneliness.

He wandered off to his balcony, where the events had unfolded nearly a month ago. The balcony hadn’t even been fixed yet. Stolas had more than enough time to pay someone to do it, but getting out of bed was tougher and tougher.

That’s when he felt a rope wrap around his neck.

The shadows concealed Striker's approach, the only warning a faint jingle of spurs on the scorched earth. Before Stolas could turn, bioluminescent coils whipped around his feathered form. His feathers flared in a defensive rustle, but the glowing rope defied his innate powers. Like a lassoed stallion, he staggered and thrashed, glossy jet-black plumes erupting from his skin.

The assassin's rough chuckle scratched the stale air. "Evenin', Your Highness." A dull knife kissed the downy underside of Stolas's neck as he was wrenched backwards. "Stella sends 'er regards."

Despite the blade's threat, Stolas arched a defiant smirk. "So you're still the little lady's doggy, heelin' to 'er every whim?" He swallowed against the tightening coil, feathers bristling in indignation. "I'd expected you'd have–ngh–grown some backbone by now."

Striker's fist knotted in his captor's sleek feather cape, crushing the fabric as he jerked him closer. Piercing blue eyes bored into Stolas's neck, his scar-carved sneer mere inches away.

"You mockin' me, bird? I been waitin' a long while t'pay you back fer what you done." With his free hand, he caressed the ornate revolver holstered at his hip--its barrel adorned with blasphemous etchings. "Shoulda killed you an' that bitch wife o' yours when I had the chance..."

The unexpected head butt stunned Striker just long enough for Stolas to rear back, defiled pupils aflame with eldritch wrath. But before he could turn the hunter to stone, the burlap sack swallowed his vision. A harsh kick between his wings drove him to his knees, choking on the acrid smoke billowing inside the coarse fabric.

"Nighty night, Princess." Striker's drawl was almost pitying as he cinched the ropes tighter...

Then darkness fell.

Striker spat his cigar out, crushing it with his heel as he nodded to the imp henchmen. "Get that worthless sack of shit moving. The bitch wants him alive, but we can have some fun first." The henchmen laughed.

They dragged Stolas through the hallway of the mansion, Striker at the helm with his pistol. They had a van running just on the side of the mansion. But Stolas was a lonely, lonely man. He had sent his guards away, everyone else was out. Striker grinned ear to ear, menacing fangs glistening in the hallway chandelier.

This would be easy.

Down the stairs, out the side door, the imp in the drivers seat had the engine running. Two more imps opened the back door. “Get ‘em in real slowly...” Striker rumbles.

His tail gave a warning rattle and he dropped to a crouch, swinging his pistol left and right. Someone was here. He stalked down the side of the car, pressed against the wall just as Stolas started waking up, a low groan escaping.

Striker lowered his gun, scowling. No one was that stupid to go against him and his men. “Just load ‘im up faster damn it! That witness won’t mean shit.”
