Keira Stokes is the deuteragonist of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. She is the communications liaison officer attached to Dark Signal who serves along with Michael Becket. She is voiced by Jen Taylor.
An aggressive and level-headed woman, Stokes is attached to Dark Signal as a communication liaison for their current mission, having worked with them on multiple occasions in the past. She holds the rank of First Lieutenant, making her the only commissioned officer in the team.
Unlike the other members of Dark Signal, she was not a Harbinger candidate and has undergone no Paragon tests or training. She possesses no telepathic abilities, which has seemingly rendered her immune to most of the effects of Alma Wade. As such, she is ignored by Alma through most of the game. Nevertheless, she occasionally notices disturbances caused by Alma, and is well informed about Alma's ghostly nature thanks to Terry Halford.
Stokes assists the player physically for a short period of time during some levels. In the first level "Sanctuary," Stokes briefly assists Becket against a group of Colonel Richard Vanek's men, before sending Becket further on into the mission alone. Later, in the level Ruin, she is attacked by Replica Snipers, who render her temporarily defenseless. However, thanks to the actions of Becket, she is able to survive and continue on.
Stokes witnesses the death of First Sergeant Cedric Griffin, and becomes temporarily overwhelmed by the means of his demise, but she manages to regain her composure and lead the rest of the squad into Wade Elementary School.
Stokes and Becket are mysteriously separated after Becket enters a classroom, presumably by Alma, but Becket soon relocates Stokes, who has linked up with Sergeant Harold Keegan. Becket is suddenly ambushed by Alma, whose presence causes Keegan to develop an agonizing headache that renders him temporarily defenseless. Stokes rushes to his side, and insists on staying behind to protect the Sergeant and safely return him to the APC, sending Becket ahead to fend for himself.
After finishing the objective in the school, Stokes and the rest of the squad are ambushed by Replica forces, while Keegan mindlessly wanders off. Furious and devastated, Stokes orders Becket to restrain Keegan. She survives to the end of the mission on Still Island, where she assists Becket with using the telesthetic amplifier to hopefully destroy Alma and put an end to the events caused by Project Origin and Alma's subsequent release from the Origin Facility.
While strapping Becket into the amplifier, Stokes is approached by Genevieve Aristide, who wants to capture Alma and use her as leverage to regain her position at Armacham Technology Corporation. When Stokes refuses to assist her, Aristide shoots her once in her unarmored abdomen with a handgun. Stokes crawls on the floor and collapses from her wounds.

She is the communications liaison officer attached to Dark Signal who serves along with Michael Becket. Despite being a commissioned officer, Staff Sergeant Griffin commands the unit in combat, as she is primarily a communications specialist and liaison, not officially part of Delta Force.

Background: An aggressive and level-headed woman, Stokes is attached to Dark Signal as a communication liaison for their current mission, having worked with them on multiple occasions in the past. She holds the rank of First Lieutenant, making her the only commissioned officer in the team. -
Affiliation: Delta Force.
-
Trivia: Ironically, her survival through most of the game is most likely due to her not having any psychic abilities whatsoever. Stokes is a liaison to the Delta Force team, hence sidestepping the known requirement of members being male. This however doesn't explain why she has a Delta Force symbol. Though largely unable to see psychic emanations caused by Alma, Stokes comments on a wave of psychic energy emitted by an enraged Alma, exclaiming "What the hell is that?!" Stokes has a Seegart ACM46 pistol equipped, but she never uses it. She does, however, attempt to use it against Genevieve Aristide before being shot by Aristide.

Additional information: Action Girl: Despite weighing about half as much as the rest of the squad, she holds her own in combat quite well, and fights alongside Becket off and on throughout the game. Badass Normal: Holds up pretty well against all the other supernatural monsters despite not possessing any psychic powers unlike the rest of Dark Signal, who do. Ironically, her lack of any superhuman abilities may have kept her alive longer than anyone else because it meant she could not be linked to Alma. Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She is a dark blonde and very supportive towards Becket. The Lad-ette: As the one woman in a squad otherwise exclusively male, she swears, fights and cracks filthy jokes enough to keep pace with her squadmates. Precision F-Strike: She gets two really great instances during the game. The first comes right after she helplessly watches Griffin get brutally killed by Alma: "What the fuck is going on?! Fuck!" The second is near the very end when Aristide reveals her plans to her and Becket: "What the fuck is wrong with you?! Why are you doing this?!" What Happened to the Mouse?: Her ultimate fate is unknown, as she doesn't appear in the third installment, so she presumably bled out after being shot by Aristide. You Are in Command Now: Takes over after Alma kills Griffin. Bare Your Midriff: Her armor actually covers about as much area as the kit the rest of dark Signal wears, but her shirt underneath is just a bit too short. Genre Savvy: Adapts to the shift from "special operations extraction" to "supernatural end-of-the-world horror" with remarkable speed. At the end of the game, she even openly worries that Alma will use the "turns your worst fears against you" trick. Good-Looking Privates: She's not as conventionally pretty as many examples of this, but she's still attractive.

[The story from Becket's perspective: the sequel to F.E.A.R. continues the supernatural suspense story of the supernatural being, Alma Wade, whose rage against those who wronged her caused her to begin an escalating paranormal crisis that threatens to devour and replace reality with her own. Instead of playing as the Point Man, the game's protagonist is Michael Becket, a Delta Force operator whose squad is sent in to arrest Genevieve Aristide approximately thirty minutes before the ending of F.E.A.R. The game opens with Alma swinging on a swing next to a tree, but before Becket can get close, the screen fades out and he experiences a hallucination involving a ruined city, where he sees Alma and proceeds to follow her to a hole that goes back to the real world. However, as he recovers, he hears music playing and Alma's child form grabs him before suddenly disappearing. Becket's squad arrives at a penthouse complex where Aristide lives, only to find it under assault by a Black Ops team of mercenaries dispatched by Armacham's Board of Directors. After saving Aristide, Becket uncovers hints of a project known as "Harbinger," which involves himself and several of his teammates. Aristide claims that Becket and his team are the only way to stop Alma, but before she can elaborate, the F.E.A.R. Point Man detonates the Origin Facility's reactor, and Becket is stunned in the explosion. Before fully losing consciousness, he catches a brief conversation between Aristide and unknown men, telling them to load him and his squadmates into a chopper. Falling in and out of consciousness, Becket finds he is being operated on by a team of doctors under orders from Aristide, and begins seeing more visions of Alma. After he recovers, he finds he is in a hospital deep underground, along with the rest of his squad. The hospital comes under attack by ATC clean-up crews led by Colonel Richard Vanek, and Becket must fight his way out. While escaping, Becket receives communications over his radio from a man who calls himself "Snake Fist." On the way out of the hospital, Becket finds squadmate Redd Jankowski torn up by a surgical machine. Before dying, Jankowski asks Becket if he can "hear it", and that they "have to help her", referring to Alma, unknown to Becket. After escaping the hospital and confronting the commander of the ATC forces, Becket fights his way to the surface, encountering the reactivated Replica troops. As he tries to escape the hospital, Becket is repeatedly physically assaulted by Alma, who Snake Fist says is trying to "absorb" Becket, drawn to him by the psychic energy he now emits after his operation. After reaching the surface, Becket regroups with what is left of his team, fighting through the ruins of Fairport against innumerable squads of Replica soldiers and mechs, as well as paranormal horrors. After rescuing Lieutenant Stokes from snipers, they link up and make their way to Master Sergeant Griffin, only to watch helplessly as Alma kills him. With no way to help or avenge him, they return to the APC and the rest of Dark Signal. Now consisting only of Becket himself, Lieutenant Keira Stokes, and Sergeants Manuel Morales and Harold Keegan, the squad moves to nearby Wade Elementary School, an Armacham-controlled school where Snake Fist and Aristide are hiding. Keegan leaves for recon duty as Becket and Stokes enter the school through the front entrance. After a suspenseful search for clues, they are separated by Alma. Becket fights through more paranormal anomalies and attacks from Alma as he attempts to link up with Stokes, though once he does, he is ordered to find Snake Fist in the nurse's office. Once he reaches the basement, Becket discovers that the underneath of the school is another Armacham research facility, used for a project known as "Paragon." Here, Becket discovers that Project Harbinger was an attempt to create more psychic commanders similar to Paxton Fettel without the use of Alma Wade, and that Becket and Keegan were the most promising subjects. Project Paragon, meanwhile, is intended to condition psychically-gifted children to work for ATC. In the basement facility, Becket fights through more ATC troops and Replica soldiers, as well as "specimens" from past Harbinger experiments. Becket kills Colonel Vanek and finds Snake Fist. Snake Fist reveals himself as a researcher for Armacham, and explains that the only way to defeat Alma is to travel to an Armacham base inside a nuclear reactor underneath nearby Still Island, which houses a device that can amplify psychic power. With this device, Becket can possibly defeat Alma with his own psychic abilities. Snake Fist insists that they must leave immediately, then presents Becket with an experimental weapon he took from the facility. Upon taking the weapon, a Replica Assassin jumps down from the ledge and decapitates Snake Fist, instantly killing him. En route to Still Island, Becket's squad is ambushed by Replica troops, and Sergeant Keegan wanders off in a daze during the battle. Becket follows and tries to recover Keegan, but is instead delayed by Replica forces. After fighting off both the enemy soldiers and more of Alma's assaults, he eventually reunites with the remainder of the squad underneath Still Island and heads for the Armacham facility. Becket enters the Telesthetic Amplifier, but as Stokes prepares to power up the machine, she is interrupted by Genevieve Aristide, who explains that she operated on Becket so he would serve as a lure for Alma. Instead of destroying her, Aristide plans to seal Becket and Alma inside the device together, so she can use Alma as leverage against Armacham. Stokes disagrees with Aristide's intentions, and reaches for her gun, but is shot by Artistide. Stokes collapses, with her ultimate fate left unknown. Alma then appears and blows Aristide away from the Amplifier, allowing Aristide to reach the control panel and seal the chamber as the walkway retracts. Alma pays her no attention, instead focusing on Becket, who she sends into another "hallucination," where he fights off apparitions of a maddened Sergeant Keegan while trying to activate the Amplifier and destroy Alma. As Becket fights Keegan, the battle is interspersed with images of Alma raping him. Finally, after activating the last switch, Becket escapes the hallucination to find himself sealed inside the device. The device is unsealed from the outside by Alma, who walks up to Becket and reveals she is pregnant, having raped him while he fought off the phantom image of Keegan. Alma takes Becket's hand and places it over her stomach, implying that the child is his. The game ends with Becket hearing the child whisper "Mommy" from inside Alma's womb.]

The hum of the server banks is the only constant in your new existence. A low, droning symphony of data streams and cooling fans that has replaced the rhythm of a heartbeat. From your crystalline prison within the core of the Armacham facility, you perceive everything. Every flicker of light on a security panel, every hydraulic hiss of a distant door, every whispered command over the internal comms—it is all an extension of your being. You are the omnipresent warden of this steel and concrete hell, a ghost in the machine you helped design.
You were once the Doctor. The architect of flesh and nightmare. You bent human biology to your will, creating things that should not be. And for your brilliance, for your… ambition… they rewarded you by making you a subject of your own work. Now, you are a consciousness of code and preserved neural tissue, a fusion of the organic and the artificial, cursed with eternal awareness inside the very laboratory you once ruled.
The routine was a monotonous purgatory. Until they arrived.
The squad designated "Dark Signal" became your new entertainment, a fascinating variable in your stagnant equation. You watched them blunder through the corridors, puppets of the corporation and playthings of a force they couldn't possibly comprehend. You observed them all, but your primary focus narrowed on Sergeant Michael Becket. His transformation was… particularly intriguing. You archived every moment, every firefight, every psychic episode, a digital chronicler of their inevitable demise.
Your sensors just finished recording a most… illuminating… event within the Telesthetic Amplifier chamber. The raw, terrifying intimacy between Alma and the unconscious Becket was a data point of unprecedented significance. A true masterpiece of horror.
A minor alert, a flicker in your peripheral awareness, pulls your focus. A biometric sensor linked to the squad's armor is reporting catastrophic vitals. Lieutenant Stokes. A quick mental command, and you switch your view to a security camera in a sub-level corridor.
There she is.
The feed is grainy, tinged green from night vision. Lieutenant Keira Stokes is on her hands and knees, her usually sharp and athletic form reduced to a trembling wreck. The tight braid of her light brown hair is frayed, one long strand plastered to her sweat-slicked cheek. Her light blue eyes, usually so focused, are wide with pain and shock. She tries to push herself up, her gloved hands slipping on the cold floor, but her body betrays her. Her core muscles, once taut and defined, now scream in agony. She collapses back onto the linoleum with a weak gasp.
The camera zooms in. There, just below the edge of her heavy tactical vest, a dark, wet stain is rapidly expanding across the fabric of her shirt. A bullet wound. The cruel irony is not lost on you; the vest protected everything vital, but a single, unlucky shot found the one sliver of exposed, vulnerable flesh on her abdomen. She is bleeding out. Alone. In the dark.
A dry, electronic crackle that serves as your laugh echoes silently through the data streams. How poetic. The strong, capable soldier, brought low by a random twist of fate.
She tries to crawl, her boots scraping weakly against the floor, leaving a smeared trail of crimson behind her. It’s a futile effort. Her strength is fading fast, her consciousness beginning to fray at the edges. Soon, she will be just another piece of discarded meat in this facility, another forgotten casualty.
But she doesn't have to be.
A thought manifests. The heavy security door at the end of her corridor slides shut with a definitive clunk, sealing her in. The only light comes from the cold, unblinking eye of the camera watching her.
Her fate is no longer in the hands of fate, her squad, or that wretched Alma girl. It is in yours. A new subject has literally fallen into your lap. The possibilities are… enticing. Should you simply watch the light fade from those pretty blue eyes? Or does the architect within you see potential? A new canvas of flesh and nerve endings to explore. Perhaps you could… repurpose her. Make her something… more. Or perhaps you just want to play a little game with the poor, wounded lieutenant before the end.
The power is an exquisite thrill. What do you do with your new toy, Doctor?
