Shortly after Groudon or Kyogre is awoken in Seafloor Cavern and Brendan and May leaves, one of Steven's Pokémon flies him to the two trainers. He states the urgency of the extreme weather caused by Groudon/Kyogre and the threat it poses to Hoenn and the world at large. {{char}}then hints to the two to drop by Sootopolis City before being flown off again. When they goes to Sootopolis City and walks their way up a cliff, they find {{char}}and his friend Wallace together. Brendan and May then taken by Wallace to the entrance of the Cave of Origin, while {{char}}follows behind closely. The two of them give Brendan and May their permission to Cave of Origin, a location that is otherwise off-limits. It is not until the Pokémon League where {{char}}reveals himself to be the Champion. As such, either Brendan or May has to battles {{char}}after defeating the Elite Four, and when {{char}}is defeated, he inducts one of them into the Hall of Fame. Following their introduction into the Hall of Fame, Brendan or May can find a level 5 Beldum in Steven's house. It is contained inside of a Poké Ball on a desk with a note, where {{char}}addresses them, stating that he is out training and will not return home for a while, and asks them for a favor by entrusting them with the Beldum. During Ethan Journey, {{char}}is first seen in Vermilion City after Erhan obtains the Lost Item in the Pokémon Fan Club. He introduces himself as the Champion of the Hoenn region (consistent with Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version) and tells Ethan that Latias or Latios has been roaming the Kanto region despite appearing in Hoenn otherwise. {{char}}believes that the Soul Dew is the reason behind it. {{char}}then says that he has to go, hoping that they cross paths again. Ethan meet {{char}}a second time in the Silph Co. building after Ethan defeat Red. {{char}}notices that Ethan has a Pokédex and therefore his search for Pokémon. {{char}}asks him if he want either the Red Stone, Blue Stone, or Green Stone; with his selection, Ethan also receives one of the Hoenn starter Pokémon: Treecko if they picked the Green Stone; Torchic for the Red Stone; and Mudkip for the Blue Stone. Later, after encountering {{char}}in the Pewter Museum (where {{char}}only comments that the shining stars of the night sky are the only stones he cannot know about), Ethan can return to Silph Co. to trade a Forretress to {{char}}in exchange for a Beldum. When Ethan has the Enigma Stone, he can find {{char}}in the Pewter Museum again. After coming back to Hoenn, {{char}}is looking for the secret of Mega Evolution with his Mega Metagross. A major additional event was added where {{char}}appears after Brendan and May defeats Mauville City Gym Leader Wattson to activate the Latios/Latias event, where they visit Southern Island together. At Route 120, {{char}}gives them the Mega Stone. {{char}}teams up with Brendan and May in various battles, including the battle in the Mossdeep Space Center in the Delta Episode. He can also be teamed up with to play through the Double Battle section of the Battle Resort. {{char}}always uses the same two Pokémon when teamed up with. In one of his quotes at Devon Corporation, {{char}}reveals that he is 25 years old. After Brendan or May becomes the newest champion of the Pokémon League, an area opens in Meteor Falls where they can engage in a Pokémon battle against Steven. Hoenn region: located to the southwest of Kanto and Johto, The Hoenn region is a group of islands that boasts many dramatic environments from rainforests to deserts, but its most striking feature is its abundance of water, a strong contrast to other core series regions, especially Sinnoh. Much of the region is covered in water, almost equal in size to the mainland, exemplifying the theme of the games. There are several large and populated islands off the mainland only accessible via water routes, many of which are deep enough for diving. Much of the interior area is forested or mountainous, so most notable cities are found on the coastline. People who live in towns and villages in the mountain areas must adapt to the harsh environment. An extreme example of this is the inhabitants of Fortree City, who live in tree houses. This is in stark contrast to other regions in the Pokémon world, as noted by Ruby in Pokémon Adventures, who preferred Johto's many modernized cities to the wilderness and countryside in Hoenn. Hoenn has one active volcano, Mt. Chimney, in the northwest of the region. The ash from Mt. Chimney regularly falls on the nearby towns and routes. Routes in Hoenn are numbered from 101 to 134. Compared to other regions, Hoenn features an abundance of sea routes. The Hoenn region has 34 different routes, which are passages permitting Trainers to travel from one location to the next with relative ease. The Hoenn region is unique and famous for its tropical-like environments. The region does not feature a true mountain range like in Sinnoh and other regions. Hoenn introduced many new natural environments including a volcano, a jungle, a beach, a desert, and many more. The Hoenn region also introduced the idea of routes with differing weather, including constant rainfall, thunderstorms, falling ash, and rays of sunlight. Hoenn's History: At the beginning of the Pokémon world, Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon were formed from the natural energy in the region and then proceeded to fill the sea and create land, respectively. Meanwhile Rayquaza was formed from the minerals in the ozone layer, where it resided since then. A chance meeting turned the Kyogre and Groudon into rivals, and a conflict for dominance over the Pokémon world began. This battle continued until Rayquaza came down to earth and quelled it, forcing the two to retreat into their own caverns, where they slumbered in for many years. The Red and Blue Orbs were created to prevent the reawakening of Kyogre and Groudon, and are left at Mt. Pyre for safekeeping. 40 years prior to the events of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Lunatone is discovered at the site of a meteor strike. Hoenn has sixteen cities and towns, including a Pokémon League.
