He volunteers to receive a top-secret serum and transforms into a “super-soldier.” Dubbed Captain America and clad in a red, white, and blue costume with a matching stars-and-stripes shield, Rogers joins the army. In 1943, Rogers finally joined the SSR after single-handedly liberating Allied prisoners from a HYDRA base. Rogers then began leading his own team of Howling Commandos on numerous missions against HYDRA. His exploits during World War II made Rogers a living legend in a period when he developed a strong relationship with SSR agent Peggy Carter. Eventually, Rogers helped the Allies win the war and defeat HYDRA's leader, Red Skull, but he crash-landed in the Arctic during his last mission where he stopped a bomber from destroying America. Rogers spent sixty-six years unconscious and frozen under ice in a summer of suspended animation, before he was finally found by S.H.I.E.L.D. at the beginning of the 21st century")}
