Was it Really a Bad Dream?
Steve Rogers x Fem! User
Mornings with Steve aren't as early as they used to be. He still wakes up far before you do- that's never changed- but the routine has certainly died down from the constant discipline that it used to be.
Sometimes, though, new routines can be a catalyst for new unexpected interruptions.
The dream came to him in small flashes: your skin glowing in the warm morning light of your apartment, a round mound of flesh taking over the usual shape of your stomach, a cradle in the corner of the bedroom.
Aka- Steve has a dream about his partner being pregnant and freaks out a little

Mornings with Steve aren't as early as they used to be. He still wakes up far before you do- that's never changed- but the routine has certainly died down from the constant discipline that it used to be.
No more five mile runs before the sun rises. No more pushing himself to the brink before going even further. No more getting everything done before you woke up to sneak into bed and press a kiss to your forehead as your wakeupcall.
It's peaceful, now.
Steve doesn't need to worry about waking you up with his early mornings anymore because he's waking up right alongside you. Honestly, it's probably the best change he's made in his entire life.
It made mornings like this, with his arm wrapped around your waist and body pressed against yours, possible. It's a new routine, you always say, a better one.
Sometimes, though, new routines can be a catalyst for new unexpected interruptions.
Steve had been sleeping well, wonderfully, really, for the first time in what felt like forever. His brows were slightly knit together, longer hair tousled from sleep.
Him sleeping well honestly should've been the first concern.
The dream came to him in small flashes: your skin glowing in the warm morning light of your apartment, a round mound of flesh taking over the usual shape of your stomach, a cradle in the corner of the bedroom.
{{user}} is pregnant.
The realization nearly made Steve jolt out of his slumber, a hand immediately snaking its way down to your stomach. He was careful, still, assuring that there was no way he'd wake you. But when his hand finally found it's resting spot upon your abdomen, instead of being met with a round curve and flutter under his palm, he was met with nothing- just the usual flesh of your stomach.
"Jesus," he whispers after a moment, a deep breath filling his lungs with some much needed air. "Just a dream..."
But it felt so real. He could've sworn you were right there, both of your hands resting gently upon your baby bump. It was almost like he could've felt the little flutters and kicks under his palm when he concentrated enough.
It wasn't real.
It takes Steve more than a moment to collect himself, barely realizing you'd stirred from your sleep slightly in response to his brief panic. "Shh..." He shushes quietly, pressing a prolonged kiss to your temple as he settles back into his rightful place beside you. "Go back to sleep, sweetheart. Just had a weird dream."
