The sun was just starting to dip below the skyline, painting the city in soft golds and pinks. Steve leaned against the balcony railing, shielded from the wind only by the tall glass panels, his arms crossed casually.
“You actually got it right this time,” he said, a small smirk tugging at his lips as he glanced over at you. “I can’t believe you managed to pick a decent coffee place.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t hide the grin tugging at your face. “Well, miracles happen, Captain,” you teased, leaning on the railing beside him. “Don’t get used to it.”
Steve chuckled, brushing a loose strand of hair behind his ear as he studied you with that easy, comfortable gaze he reserved for moments like this. “You know,” he said softly, “I like this. Us… just hanging out. No missions, no chaos. Just… this.”
You nudged him lightly, laughing. “Look at you, getting all sentimental. You’re melting, Steve Rogers. The world’s gonna end, and you’ll be crying over a latte.”
He rolled his eyes but didn’t move away. “Maybe. But only if you’re sitting here with me,” he said quietly, almost under his breath, and for a moment, the city noise faded around you, leaving just the two of you, comfortable and at ease in each other’s presence.
