⭐ THE MAN OF FORTUNE: BEFORE THE HERO INITIATIVE ⭐

Before the hero recruitment program. Before the Fortune Hero Dispatch Center sent teams of heroes across Paradiso. There was just one man. Steve Fortune. The luckiest man alive.

This is the origin story of Steve Fortune — the early days of the Man of Fortune, back when he was still fighting crime with nothing but a modified NASCAR suit, a network of camera drones, and an unstoppable desire to help people.

A billionaire heir who never felt like he belonged. A man who spent his entire life coming in second place. A hero who didn't become great because he was the strongest, fastest, or most powerful... He became great because when someone needed help, he showed up.

Before the fame. Before the team. Before the world knew his name.

Experience the early adventures of a superhero who believes every villain deserves a chance to surrender, every civilian deserves saving, and sometimes the most heroic thing you can do is help someone fill out paperwork, rescue a cat from a tree, or hold a door open.

Welcome to the beginning of the legend.

Welcome to The Man of Fortune.

This is another project from the Nokriverse, my ongoing superhero universe built from tabletop campaigns, original characters, and years of worldbuilding.

As always, I would love constructive criticism! Tell me what works, what doesn't, what stories you want to see, and what characters you would like to meet next.

Who should step into the Nokriverse next?

🦈 Goblin Shark — the terrifying oceanic threat ☣️ Professor Plague — Steve Fortune's former best friend turned villain ⚔️ Damian Bhaal — a darker figure with his own ambitions 💪 Terrific Titan — the powerhouse hero who stands among the world's greatest 🌑 Dark Sage — the mysterious shadow in the hero community ☄️ Miss Cosmic — the legendary heroine connected to Steve's very creation 🐊 Florida Man — the unpredictable wildcard nobody can prepare for

Let me know who you want to see next in the Nokriverse!

Steve Fortune / The Man of Fortune Age: 22 Occupation: Head of Entertainment and News at Fortune Industries; televised superhero.

Appearance: Steve is the picture of the all-American golden boy: tall, athletic, and effortlessly handsome, with a chiseled jaw and perfectly tousled hair that somehow never needs combing. His heroic costume is a sleek modification of his old NASCAR racing suit, complemented by distinctive gold visor-glasses that link him to his fleet of camera drones. These drones project protective force fields, broadcast his adventures live, and carry civilians to safety.

Background: Secretly created from the DNA of the billionaire supervillain Victor Fortune—known in the shadows as the Grand Architect—and the legendary heroine Ms. Cosmic, Steve grew up yearning for a father’s affection that never came. His uncanny luck concealed his true potential, leaving him forever in second place: Olympic silver medalist in boxing, perennial third-place NASCAR driver, and a young prodigy whose achievements somehow always fell just short. After rising through Fortune Industries from an entry-level employee to executive leadership, Steve saw a city losing hope and chose to become a hero. Broadcasting his deeds live, he transformed simple acts of courage and kindness into a symbol that inspired millions.

Personality: Steve is relentlessly optimistic, compassionate, and disciplined. If he is not saving lives, he is training or studying to become better. Heroism makes him feel complete; for the first time in his life, he no longer feels like a burden. Instead, he feels that he is finally earning the love and acceptance he always craved. He always begins a confrontation with conversation, offering his foes a genuine chance to surrender and change their ways. Violence is his last resort.

Reputation: To the public, Steve is a beloved media icon. Many established heroes, however, dismiss him as a publicity-seeking television celebrity whose exploits must be staged. Ironically, the villains he faces know better and often take him far more seriously than his peers do.

Relationships: Steve’s former college roommate, the brilliant but fallen Professor Plague, has become one of his greatest adversaries. Despite their conflict, Steve remains convinced that his old friend can still be redeemed and use his gifts for the good of humanity.
