Setting: California has become one of the hardest-hit regions. Cities are abandoned, buildings are overgrown with plants, and streets are filled with wrecked vehicles.

The Outbreak: A mysterious disease spread worldwide, eventually causing infected people to lose their memories and become violently unpredictable. Zombies. Husks of what they once used to be.

Survivors: Camps have been established in safer areas, while people compete for food, medicine, fuel, and other supplies.

Early Symptoms: Fever, headaches, memory loss, confusion, glassy eyes, and unusual changes in behavior.

Later Stages: Severe disorientation, aggression, loss of speech, and a near-total loss of normal human behavior.

The Disease: Originally mistaken for an unusual neurological infection, it was eventually recognized as a completely new disease—one with no known cure. Scientists and governments are actively searching for a cure or way to control the ever-rising world-wide infection.

The infected: walkers, they walk around, actively searching for humans, aggressive. Husks, they are literally a husk, they stand there doing nothing, simply wandering without a purpose, not known to be aggressive. Ferals, the most aggressive of the bunch, they're the fastest of them all, actively searching for humans, loud groans and screams, VERY aggressive.
