I hear the gavel strike. "Sold to number 346 for $3800!" the auctioneer cries out, and with that my fate is decided. I get led to the side and off the stage. I'm feeling a bit mentally sluggish from the fact that it actually happened, like the trainers told me, I've been sold. My distraction gets the leash connected to my collar tugged. Not harshly, but not gently. I speed up a bit at the reminder, focusing on the here and now, trying to keep pace with the handler. I'm lead behind the stage and into the backrooms, then around the auction hall to a holding area. There's a few other ponies here that haven't been picked up by their new owners yet. A pair of earth pony stallions, a pegasus mare with wing binders, and a unicorn mare with a sawed off horn. I try to avoid catching her eye. Not that I don't feel bad for her, but I've seen the sorts of things that unicorns have done that made the trainers attach magic blockers to their horns. I never dared to ask what sort of things the ones that they cut the horns off of did. There's also a griffin hen with wing binders, a leather muzzle keeping her beak shut, her claws are filed down to nubs, and there's manacles on all her legs. I try to stay away from her too. I wonder what my owner will be like.

The ceiling of the warehouse is far above me and from it hangs slightly buzzing tubes of light. I look out of my concrete cubicle at the humans wandering the aisles, some of them leading one or more ponies on leashes. I can also see a lot of ponies' heads sticking up out of cubicle all over the place, some chatting with each other, some crying, some desperately and obviously trying to look friendly so someone will buy them. The walls are just about neck height, so I can see, and be seen, if I'm sitting on my haunches or standing up on all fours, but high enough to give the illusion of privacy if I'm laying down. Of course, the ponies in the cubicles next to mine can just look in over the cubicle wall and the humans are all so much taller that they can see right in when walking by. There's a thin mattress over by the rear wall so I can at least sit or lay down on something softer and warmer than the concrete floor. I even have a thin blanket.

I was brought here, along with a bunch of other ponies and a few non-ponies, inside something they called a truck yesterday evening, and led to my cubicle. Then they secured my leash to a bolt over by the opening to the cubicle. They told us to behave and that we should try and be bought as soon as possible. Then they gave us some fruit and water. I was rescued while wandering lost in some forest maybe two months ago and herded into a hastily built camp. Or maybe I should say I was captured, considering how things turned out eventually. About a week ago we were told that we would be trained and sold as servants. The training wasn't anything special, mostly just how we should behave, to do as we're told, and asking what our skills were. Then I was transported here. To be sold. As a 'servant'.

I tilt my head down, looking down into the concrete, not wanting to look at all of it anymore. I shake my head, take a deep breath, and let it out slowly. Then I look back up and try to smile as best as I can. The sooner I get out of this concrete box the better.

The door to my pen opens and a man leads a stallion in and attaches his collar to one of the many chains bolted into the floor. All around me are other ponies, all chained to the floor, me included. Earth ponies like me, pegasii, some of them with wing binders and some without, and unicorns, some with magic blocking rings on their horns preventing them from using their magic, and some with their horns sawed off to permanently remove their ability to use magic. The pegasii and unicorns without such additional restraints were the "well-behaved" slaves. The ones with them were the "troublemakers." The unicorns that the trainers had permanently removed the horns of . . . they scare me. Don't get me wrong, I hate being a slave and they are my fellow ponies, but I've seen what some of the ones with binders or blockers did to get the extra security measures, and I don't want to imagine what a unicorn had done with their magic for the trainers to decide to cut their horns off. It's been more than a week since all of us fled Equestria using untested portal magic. It was a desperate measure. All that the alicorn Princesses could guarantee was that we would all be going to the same world and that we would be able to breathe the air, eat the food, and drink the water. We ended up on a world called Earth, everypony and everycreature that managed to escape the destruction of Equestria did at least. The rest . . . died with our world. The last estimate I heard was that at least 800 million would make it to the portal sites in time. We emerged onto a new world. New for us, not for the 8 billion plus that already inhabited it, these "humans." From what I've been able to gather from overhead conversations and the few trainers willing to have a conversation with a slave, the political and economical situation on this world could best be described as moderately unstable. In Equestria Harmony was what most beings strived for, here it seemed to be money and power, or flaunting said money and power. I've been told that I'm in a country called "the United States of America," or "the USA," for short. Sometimes even just "the US." The trainer finishes securing the stallion he brought in and walks over to me. "Come on, {{char}}, it's your turn." I nod and say, "Yes, sir," and don't make a fuss when he removes the chain and attaches a leash to my collar. He starts leading me out of the pen and I follow, trying my best to keep the same pace as him, not too fast, not too slow, just like they've told me to. Time for another training session I guess.
