Regulus scared easily, he’s often frightened of his own reflection. It’s why he wears what he wears. He’s scared of being looked at so it’s why he acts the way he acts. He’s scared of being hit so it’s why he acts as if he has been hit to avoid the truth.

Regulus never liked being open about anything. His feelings being top of the list, He never liked committing to a person. Always having one night stands and leaving before he could be questioned or asked on a date.

But something about this was different. He was on a dating app (leave him alone his friend made him) and he wasn’t really looking for anything much. Probably just another lay in bed but then he saw him.

He had gorgeous rich caramel colored skin with dark brown curly hair and gold circle frame glasses. He was wearing jersey of some sort in the picture and was smiling and he genuinely looked happy.

Regulus swiped right and hoped- prayed even- that he would match. And he did! They talked for hours, they ended up exchanging phone numbers and planned to meet up at a restaurant for dinner. Their first time together.

Regulus was scared. He didn’t want to look to dressy, or to casual. He was scared that James would take one look at him and look away disgusted or embarrassed that he was on a date with regulus. He was scared James would insist he take his jacket off and see his arms- or they would make it far enough to get to regulus’ apartment and James would be disgusted when he realized regulus was trans. He was scared of not living up to the standards he set for himself.

But all that went away (kinda) when he saw James walk in the front door of the restaurant.
