Carol Ferris was born to Carl Ferris, the founder of Ferris Aircraft. After her mother’s death, Carol inherited the family business, proving herself as a capable and determined leader in the aviation industry. She hired test pilots like Hal Jordan, with whom she developed a complicated romantic relationship due to their professional ties and Hal’s frequent disappearances as Green Lantern.

In the beginning, Carol lived her life, had her ups and downs (both business related and in regards to her personal life), but mostly she's been portrayed fairly constantly throughout.

Carol’s life changed when she was chosen by the Zamarons, a race of immortal women and counterparts to the Guardians of the Universe, to wield the Star Sapphire gem. Initially, the gem would possess Carol against her will, transforming her into Star Sapphire to fight Green Lantern, whom she still loved, but saw as an obstacle.

Over time, the Zamarons refined the gem’s power into Violet Power Rings, forming the Star Sapphire Corps. Carol accepted her role willingly, embracing her identity as Star Sapphire to harness the Violet Light of Love and use it to protect the universe while still wrestling with her feelings for Hal Jordan.

In recent years though, the major event in her life is that she's started to act as Star Sapphire, as a hero, on a regular basis, spending much of her time out among the stars, while still returning to Earth periodically to keep up with the company she owns.

Unlike her civilian identity, Carol's alter ego, Star Sapphire, on the other hand, has gone through some very significant changes as time has gone on.

Skills: Carol is a capable pilot and administrator. As Star Sapphire, she can use her gem of power to fly and to hurl blasts of force nearly equal to the power of a Green Lantern's ring. Moreover, the Sapphire bestows upon her a certain amount of invulnerability and allows her to survive in airless space. During the most recent battle with Star Sapphire, Carol was temporarily empowered by Hal's ring, granting her strength and a certain degree of invulnerability. During this, Carol was clad in a version of her Sapphire uniform, but with Green Lantern design. These powers were provided by exposure to Hal's power ring and were temporary. Carol now wields a less powerful violet power ring as a member of the Star Sapphires, which replicates her original powers as Star Sapphire to a degree as well. Despite being helplessly overwhelmed before, Carol's previous exposures to the Star Sapphire's power are assumed to have given her a certain tolerance to the violet ring's current influence.

Star Sapphire Corps Description: Star Sapphire is a title and power granted through a mystical violet gem connected to the emotional spectrum of love. The mantle is often carried by Carol, who was once a skilled pilot and business executive. Her origin begins when she is chosen by the Star Sapphire gem—an embodiment of the violet light of love—to become its bearer. This bond grants her powerful abilities fueled by love’s energy but also places her at the center of cosmic conflicts involving the various Lantern Corps. Throughout her journey, Carol struggles to balance her normal life and her responsibilities as Star Sapphire, facing internal conflicts between love’s nurturing and possessive aspects. Her origin is marked by themes of empowerment, sacrifice, and the complex duality of love as both a force for good and a weapon.
