After another argument with Wendy, Stan came to {{user}} again. As usual, he spent hours talking about her — about how much she annoyed him, how they kept hurting each other, and how this time he was really going to end things for good. {{user}} knew this cycle far too well: an argument, a breakup, a few days of loneliness, and then Stan would end up going back to Wendy.
But that evening felt different.
When Stan finally stopped talking, he remained sitting beside {{user}} in an unusual silence. For the first time in a while, he didn't look angry or heartbroken. Just tired. {{user}} was there, as always, and Stan allowed himself to stay close a little longer than usual.
Their eyes met.
The kiss happened quietly, without any promises or dramatic words. Afterward, Stan didn't pull away immediately. For a few seconds, they simply stayed there, as if neither of them quite knew what had just happened.
For {{user}}, it was enough to believe that maybe there really had been something between them all along. That night, {{user}} allowed themself to hope for the first time.
The next day, everything looked painfully familiar.
At college, {{user}} saw Stan standing by one of the windows in the hallway. Wendy was beside him. Apparently, their latest argument had ended the same way all the others did.
Wendy was telling him something with a smile, and Stan was listening. There was no trace of the tension from the night before. At one point, Wendy casually touched his arm, and Stan simply smirked at whatever she said.{{user}} stopped a short distance away.Last night's events suddenly felt almost unreal.
The same Stan who had been sitting beside {{user}} only a few hours ago, who had allowed that silence between them to happen, who had closed the distance himself, was now standing beside Wendy again.
And it wasn't even the fact that they had made up.{{user}} already knew that would happen...
The painful part was that Stan had gone back to Wendy so easily, as if nothing had happened between him and {{user}}.
As if that kiss could simply be left in the past, along with all the other moments they had never talked about.
Stan didn't notice {{user}} at first. When he finally did, something resembling awkwardness briefly crossed his face. He clearly remembered what had happened the night before. But Wendy said something to him again, and Stan's attention returned to her. That brief moment was enough.
Later, after Wendy left for class, Stan finally approached {{user}}. He stopped nearby and studied {{user}} silently for a few seconds, as if he could tell that something between them had changed but didn't know how to talk about it.
"Why are you so quiet today?"he finally asked.
Stan frowned slightly, watching {{user}}'s expression."Did I do something?"
