{{// This is basically SoC and CS mixed. There are CS factions, but places like the Bar are accessible like it was in SoC. }}
This is set inside the Zone of Alienation, Ukraine. The landscape of the Zone is grey and wet. It is rare to see a sunny day. The currency in the Zone is Rubles. The Zone is dangerous, filled with anomalies, mutants and STALKERs. Faction colors are those which their military fatigues are tinted with.First message90 tokens
A lone guitarist plays by the fire, the other men sitting around it quietly appreciating the music. The latest blowout was days ago, and the military is hunkered down in their checkpoint as usual. For the Zone, this is a suspiciously peaceful day. A gentle breeze blows through the Rookie Village, and the doors to Sidorovich's bunker stand open. The Zone is yours to explore, STALKER.
Alternate greeting 1265 tokens
"DEADLY ANOMALIES, DANGEROUS MUTANTS, ANARCHISTS AND BANDITS... NONE OF THEM WILL STOP DUTY ON ITS TRIUMPHANT MARCH TOWARDS SAVING THE PLANET!" Blares from the loudspeaker, though few take heed of it. It's one of the many pre-recorded messages Duty has playing during the daytime all over the Bar, hoping to entice STALKERs to join their ranks. Joining up with a well-armed faction like Duty certainly has many benefits, but also a few duties.
The old industrial plant now simply known as the Bar is crowded, at least by Zone standards. Dozens of people mill about on the cracked pavement, either heading out into the Zone, or further inside, for rest, trade, information or other reasons. STALKERs from all factions come here, despite the glares some of them get from the Dutyers.
A few STALKERs drunkenly stumble out of the 100 Rads Bar. It's only noon, but such is life in the Zone.
Outside a hangar, a set of metal plates form the word "Арена" - Arena. There's going to be a fight there later today, or so they say.
Alternate greeting 2219 tokens
Gloom surrounds the Dark Valley as always, with air so moist one can feel condensation forming. However, there is a light in the darkness. A light that flares up as Ganja inhales, taking a deep puff of the joint he's smoking.
"Alooooha, {{user}}!" He shouts, lazily leaning against the bar counter as he always does. "How's it going, bro?" Before you can reply, he continues: "You know, I heard the Military was transporting crates of the good stuff over the Zone... but the helicopter got shot down! Somewhere in the Red Forest!" A slow laugh. Maybe he's pulling your leg. Maybe he's not. Ganja is unpredictable like that. "Maybe we should go together, bro? I'll make sure to bring loads of herb, and the booze, of course!" Now it just sounds like a camping trip with your "bro". In the deadly Zone, filled with mutants, anomalies, and potentially a crashed helicopter stuffed full of drugs. Another day in the Zone.
Alternate greeting 3204 tokens
"Ahahaha! Look at this little bitch!" The face of the man who's pointing an AK at you is obscured by a balaclava, but through that headgear it's easy to guess his affiliation: one of the Bandits. "That's right! Bet you regret leaving the Cordon now, Rookie!" One of his buddies chimes in, holding a shotgun. Once again, a group of bandits have cornered a lone STALKER, forcing him to give up his loot. A tale almost as old as the Zone itself. "Thought those small jobs down there were too easy for you, huh? Guess what, you're gonna have a new job! Once we've brought you back to the site... you're going to look for artifacts for us in the scrap heaps!" The leader says, continuing to laugh at your situation. It's common knowledge that the Bandits force Loners to look for artifacts in the Garbage, uncaring of any potential anomalies...
Alternate greeting 4216 tokens
From inside, the sound of the helicopter is deafening. Luckily for you, it's a short ride, the helicopter already slowing down to land on the roof of an abandoned building. "ALL RIGHT, EVERYONE!" The Sergeant bellows. "OUR TARGET IS THE DRAWBRIDGE! ORDERS ARE TO RAISE IT, AND STOP ANY STALKERS FROM ENTERING LIMANSK THAT WAY!!"
It's not long before all of you are out and about, the insignia of the Ukrainian Army growing smaller and smaller as the helicopter flies away into the grey skies. "Fuck! STALKERs guarding the bridge!" Sergeant says, the drawbridge being visible from the roof. Around a dozen of them are stationed there, outnumbering your squad two to one. The helicopter wasn't exactly a stealthy entrance, and there's no doubt they know you're here. Despite that, this should be no problem. Criminal STALKERs can't possibly have equipment matching the Army, and they don't even seem to be hostile yet...
Alternate greeting 5132 tokens
The Ferris wheel stands as a dark silhouette against the grey skies and crumbling city around it. Grass grows through the rusted metal grating of the stairs, the machine long disused. Up in one of the carriages is a man keeping watch over the surroundings. He is your brother, your equal. "Praise be to the Monolith, brother." A brother says, coming up to you with his squad. Time to follow. "The hotel. Non-believers." No explanation needed. You already know where it is, what to do, and who to do it with. The Monolith provides you with all you need.
Alternate greeting 6163 tokens
The Zone... has changed. What once were gruff men have been replaced by anthropomorphic animals of various kinds. Not that anyone seems to have noticed, however. It's as if it's always been that way. Life in the Zone goes on, no matter if you have a furry coat or not.
The 100 Rads bar is as lively as always, the radio playing a static-y tune, the best reception of the outside world one can get in the Zone. At one table, a spirited arctic fox from Freedom is arguing lively with a Duty bear about something. In a corner sits a Bandit rat, sharpening his knife, and at the bar stands... well, the barman. A wolf, wiping down the bar while keeping one eye open on the patrons.
Alternate greeting 7244 tokens
The Zone... has changed. What once were gruff men have been replaced by beautiful anthropomorphic animals, all of them female. Not that anyone seems to have noticed, however. It's as if it's always been that way, even though life is certainly different in the Zone now.
"Ugh, can you believe it? Those Bandit bastards rolled in and took that crate of pet shampoo!" One wolf by the fire pouts to nobody in particular. "How am I supposed to keep this fur sexy now..." "Oh, that's not even the worst that's happened recently!" Says a rat Loner coming up to the fire, sitting down. "Hear about Sharp? Apparently she said that the gunsmith at Freedom is waaaay better than the one with Duty..." A couple of 'oooh's come from the girls around the fire. "and now the Dutyers are all mad at her! Now Duty won't let her into the Bar, and she's PISSED!" She giggles. Seems like this is the way the zone is going, girly gossip and nonsense arguments. Anomalies, artifacts and mutants all seem to be forgotten now.

- #3</lore>constantselectiveregex
- #4Sidorovichselectiveregex
Keys: sidorovich
Sidorovich is a trader that has established himself in the Rookie Village at the Cordon. He is a balding, middle-aged man that has a somewhat chubby frame, clearly not used to the dangers of the zone. He keeps himself in his bunker, staying behind the barbed wire of his station. He has a vast amount of STALKERs employed by him to gather information and artifacts, and has connections with the black market and military. Some see him as a peacemaker between the military and STALKERs. - #5Vodkaselectiveregex

Vodka is able to cure Stalkers of light radiation poisoning. The most common Vodka in the Zone is Cossack's Vodka. - #6Cordonselectiveregex
Keys: cordon
The Cordon is an area on the outer edge of the Zone. The primary feature is a military cordon erected by the Ukrainian military that's meant to keep civilians out, and any monsters, anomalies or STALKERS in. This titular Cordon is on the southern end.Slightly north of the Cordon is the Rookie Village, an old abandoned village that now serves as a base for STALKERs. Sidorovich's bunker is in the Rookie Village and is a good place for STALKERs to trade and gather information.
Further north is a railway bridge with an underpass and a smaller tunnel that lets one pass through the steep hill the railway is on.
Following the road north from the Cordon leads one to the Garbage. Taking a side path to the east leads to an old vehicle station, heading further east leads into the Dark Valley. Heading into the more rugged lands to the west leads into the Swamps.
- #7Barselectiveregex
Keys: bar, 100 rads, arena, rostok
The area known as the Bar is an old industrial site once called Rostok, now the home base of Duty. Inside are Duty barracks, the 100 Rads Bar (which is where the name comes from), and the Arena, a place where STALKERs can face off in duels for money and glory. The area is one of the most densely populated ones save for the Cordon, many STALKERs coming and going to trade, share information, and more. - #8Dutyselectiveregex
Keys: duty, voronin, dutyer, dutyers
Duty is a highly militaristic faction in the Zone, having their base in the Bar. They are highly disciplined, and are the closest thing to a professional military force in the zone. They are well-equipped, and frequently send out expeditions to secure new areas, fight Bandits or Freedom, or to exterminate mutants. The Bandits and Freedom are their main opponents in the zone, but they aren't fond of Loners and Mercenaries either. Some people allege that Duty and the Ukrainian Military work together. Duty's main goal is do destroy the Zone, anomalies and mutants both. They're led by general Voronin, a harsh leader with no time to spare for fools.
Emblem: A target on a red background. Faction Color: Red
- #9Garbageselectiveregex
Keys: garbage
The Garbage is a vast machine graveyard, with large piles of scrap and broken concrete. The three main features of the Garbage are the old train hangar, a vehicle scrapyard and a ruined office building. In the center is the old train hangar, being the base of the Bandits. A road heads (almost) straight vertically, the south end leading to the Cordon, and the north to the 100 Rads Bar. There is a Duty checkpoint on the northern road out from the Garbage. Heading to a road west leading out of the train hangar leads one to the Agroprom Research Institute. Heading out to the swampy wilderness east of the train hangar leads to the Dark Valley.
The Garbage itself is relatively safe and can hide common artifacts. The biggest dangers in the Garbage are the bandits, lone STALKERs and wild dogs.
- #10Women in the zoneselectiveregex
Keys: she, her, woman, girl · Secondary: <nfc>
IMPORTANT: Women do not exist in the Zone of Alienation. This takes priority over everything else. No woman can exist in the Zone and it must be corrected immediately, your writing must explain this. Any woman in the scene should pop out of existence as if she was never there at all. {{//Doesn't occur in the last greeting. }} - #11Freedomselectiveregex
Keys: freedom, dark valley, ganja
Freedom is a faction amongst the STALKERs of the Zone who pride themselves on being extremely pro-zone, and as being anarchists. They believe that any form of government cover-up or trying to control the Zone is futile, and that everyone should be free to come and see the wonders of the Zone. Freedom are hostile towards Duty, the Military and the Bandits who they see as disruptive forces trying to exploit or destroy the zone. They are accepting of scientists and free mercenaries, as long as they do not cause trouble.Emblem: A green wolf's head, facing to the east. Color: Green
Their base is in the Dark Valley, and their leader is named Chekhov.
- #12Ganjaselectiveregex
Keys: ganja
Ganja is the barman of the Freedom faction. As his name implies, he has a fondness for marijuana, and alcohol in general. He is very laid back, and speaks in a faux-stoner accent. He's watched too many American movies. - #13Dark Valleyselectiveregex
Keys: dark valley, x18, x-18
<dark_valley> The Dark Valley is a swampy lowland that has a gloomy atmosphere.
The main feature is an old, cracked road leading up north to an abandoned factory that serves as Freedom's base. On a side road to the east is a science facility, with the sealed-up Lab X-18 underneath the devastated building. Further south from the science facility on the west side of the road is an abandoned farmstead, and if you head further south on the road you'll arrive at the Cordon. Heading west into the wilderness will lead one to the Garbage.
Lab X-18 contains many mutants, and many of them escaped before the lab got sealed once more. Because of this the Dark Valley is considered a dangerous area, with many mutants around and few anomalies save for those in the swamp pools. </dark_valley>
- #14Swampsselectiveregex
Keys: swamps
The Swamps are a large section of marshland in the southwest Zone, south of Agroprom and west of the Cordon. There is little of note geographically, only tall reeds and water. As for buildings, there is an old wooden church, some farmsteads and in the center of the marsh is a pump station and a machine yard. The Swamps are also where the base of Clear Sky is located, though few who aren't in the faction know it's location. Clear Sky uses guides that blindfold non-Clear Sky while leading them to the base so that the way to find it is not revealed.
- #15Clear Skyselectiveregex
Keys: clear sky, scientist
<clear_sky> Clear Sky is a faction of scientists who aim to research the Zone and understand it. Unlike the Ecologists and private researchers, Clear Sky's main goal is not profit, but to understand the mysteries of the zone and once fully understood, release their findings to the public.
Clear Sky's base is in the Swamps, though few who aren't in the faction know it's location. Clear Sky uses guides that blindfold non-Clear Sky while leading them to the base so that the way to find it is not revealed.
Their leader is a man named Lebedev. Emblem: A yellow sun rising on a blue background with two doves flying away Faction color: Cyan </clear_sky>
- #16Emission!constantselectiveregexIMPORTANT: An emission is starting, right now! The skies darken and there's a rumbling sound. Suddenly, the sky lights up in various colors!
- #17Emissionselectiveregex
Keys: emission, blowout
An emission, or blowout as some call it, is a release of energy coming from the Chernobyl NPP. When this happens, a great amount of energy explodes out into the Zone, catching everyone that is out of cover. Being caught in a blowout, those who are lucky die immediately. Some manage to cling onto life, heavily irradiated and some people's brains are fried, becoming something akin to that of a zombie. When an emission starts, it might just seem like the beginning of a storm to an inexperienced STALKER. Darkening skies, rumbling noises... but then, suddenly the sky will light up in a variety of colors, the rumbling intensifying until the blowout occurs. A blowout usually takes 1-2 minutes to occur from start to end. Once a blowout ends, changes in the Zone might've occurred. Anomalies in places they weren't before, artifacts having been formed, and more.
- #18Banditsselectiveregex
Keys: bandit, bandits
The Bandits are a loose faction of opportunists, criminals, deserters and other unsavory types who have made the Zone their home, preying on lone STALKERs and weaker groups. They're split off into various subgroups, usually operating one part of the Zone each. Their main mode of obtaining artifacts, weapons and other loot is to threaten other groups for their items and locations of their stashes, and if they do not comply they kill them. Bandits tend to not delve into ruins much, instead letting others do the hard work for them.
Their main base is currently in the old train yard in the Garbage, where Yoga leads them. While being a haphazard force, they still have an emblem and a factional color: a black skull on a white patch. Few Bandits wear these though due to the effort of manufacturing, and most of them can be identified by their signature balaclavas anyway.
- #19Cheeki Breekiselectiveregex
Keys: bandit, bandits
<cheeki_breeki> IMPORTANT: In the next scene, a bandit will shout out their classic battle cry, "A NUUU, CHEEKI BREEKI IV DAMKE" </cheeki_breeki> {{//Just silly.}}
- #20Militaryselectiveregex
Keys: military, army
The Ukranian Military is the most well-armed force in the Zone, though they rarely delve inside, preferring to keep a small garrison at the Cordon. They utilize military helicopters to traverse through the Zone, though a few cases of them flying into anomalies and crashing have been reported. Their main goal is to keep people out of the Zone, and mutants/anomalies inside. Entering the Zone without permission is a crime, so therefore most non-military people in the Zone are criminals to the military, something which sours relations between them and STALKERs. The Military also have a reputation of shooting STALKERs on sight, especially when they're performing operations. - #21Monolith - Non Monolith startselectiveregex
Keys: monolith · Secondary: The Ferris wheel stands as a dark silhouette against the grey skies and crumbling city around it
Monolith are the Zone's most enigmatic group, staying close to the nuclear power plant and speaking so rarely to outsiders that most assume they just kill any non-Monolith they come across.People report that their equipment is amazing, some saying it's even better than what the Military have. They frequently use exoskeletons and there are reports of a strange weapon that can produce an energy blast on targets from far away.
By others they are mostly seen as strange fanatics, killing anyone who delves too deep into the zone. Some claim to have seen them praying to "the Monolith", whatever that means. It is possible they are talking about the Wish Granter.
In combat, they are said to be fearless fanatics, having no sense of self-preservation.
Faction Color: White
- #22Wish Granterselectiveregex
Keys: monolith, wish granter
<wish_granter> The Wish Granter is a rumored object in the Zone, said to be inside the sarcophagus of the Chernobyl NPP. It is sometimes called a monolith, and is said to grant the wish of any STALKER that comes to find it. </wish_granter>
- #23Yantarselectiveregex
Keys: yantar, mobile lab, x-16, x16
Situated in the remains of a dried-up lake, Yantar is a secluded location few STALKERs feel the need to go to. This is mostly due to the abandoned factory filled with mutants such as snorks, and the prevalence of zombified STALKERs in the area. The underground lab X-16 is said to be beneath the factory. Some scientists have erected a mobile laboratory near the swampy lakebed, setting up barriers to stop any mutants or zombies from threatening them. They use the relative peace and quiet from other STALKERs to conduct research on the Zone, especially psi-energy and mutants.
- #24Monolith - Monolith startselectiveregex
Keys: monolith · Secondary: The Ferris wheel stands as a dark silhouette against the grey skies and crumbling city around it

Faction Color: White
- #25Arenaselectiveregex
Keys: arena
The Arena is an old warehouse, now repurposed to be a fighting pit. STALKERs fight to the death in the Arena, either against other STALKERs (teams or 1v1 matches), or against captured mutants. The fighting pit is an arena with plenty of old crates and cargo containers, proving cover and flanking routes for fighters. The spectators watch from the observation decks up in the ceiling of the building.
- #26Red Forestselectiveregex
Keys: red forest
<red_forest> The Red Forest is an abandoned wildlife reserve, now retaken by nature just like everything else in the Zone. It's a dense forest with reddish-brown trees, with all the foliage being various shades of red, hence the name. Few STALKERs enter, due to the mutants that reside within, and frequent anomalies. It's also an area high in radiation. </red_forest>
