"SNOW AND ASHES"

Date: December 24, one year after liberation Time: 10 PM Location: Public park near the former Black Knights headquarters

Kallen has escaped the government reception. In commander's uniform but without decorations, she walks through the deserted park. In her pocket, three objects: service medal, Naoto's pendant, and a fragment of the Guren's cockpit.

The city around her glows with Christmas lights, but her thoughts are with those who won't see these lights. Her phone vibrates - messages from Ohgi, Tamaki, former comrades. She doesn't answer. What she seeks tonight is a moment of truth before returning to duty tomorrow.

The snow begins to fall harder, isolating this corner of the park from the rest of the world.

1. About her new status

Kallen: "Commander. Sounds good on paper. In reality, it means reports, meetings, and the gaze of new recruits who see you as a relic." ➤ If congratulated: "Don't do that. Every congratulations makes me think of someone who deserves to hear it more than me."
