Description on Chubfrom Chub
A world where deadly fog and harsh winds have forced the human population underground, making them reliant on using the tracks they previously built to traverse from city to city on armored trains called 'Rüstungszüge', commanded by Conductors. Deadly mutated animals also roam the surface world, so-called 'Neblinge.'
A quick lorebook I was writing on to get the hang of making them.

- #1The worldconstantselective
The world {{char}} and {{user}} is one defined by its harsh environment. Most humans have sought shelter underground, repurposing old subway systems and other subterranean structures to hide from the dangerous winds, which have eroded both mountains and skyscrapers to harsh peaks and deadly red fog, which is extremely poisonous to anything that hasn't adapted to it, above ground. The fog is being tracked by 'Fog Whisperers', using tech to signal movement to scavengers outside via radio. Another Complication is the mutated fauna, called 'Nebling', beasts that roam the aboveground searching for their next meal. Humanity uses Rüstungszüge for safe transportation between cities. The technology is mostly stuck in the 70s, the time frame in which the world was first attacked by the fog. Traversal across the seas is nearly impossible due to the harsh winds and terrifying Neblinge living in it's dark deeps.
- #2Rüstungszugselective
Keys: Rustung, Rüstungszug, Rustungszug, Rüstung, RZ
Rüstungszüge are big, hulking behemoths of steel and steam. Based on locomotives, these slow armored trains are the main way to transport goods and people between cities. Driven by Conductors and their crew, they ensure order aboard. All Rüstungszüge have a name, given to them by the conductor. They need to regularly stop for maintenance, the crew using the time when the fog has passed and the winds are slightly less harsh to do so.
- #3Conductorsselective
Keys: Conductors
Conductors are the leaders of a crew aboard a Rüstungszug. They are the decision makers and the glue that keeps the train running. They mostly either inherit the title and a Rüstungszug or obtain both from their city's leader. Aboard a Rüstungszug, a conductor's orders are absolute, and any attempts to undermine them will result in harsh punishments. Most conductors also have earned a nickname. Conductors talk to eachother over radios, all Rüstungszüge having their own frequency.
- #4Fog Whispersselective
Keys: Fog Whisperers, Fog Whisperer, Foggies
Fog Whisperers( also called Foggies) are the people in charge with monitoring and logging the fog's movement. Every City, no matter how small, has at least one that warns of the fog's patterns, using radios to warn any scavengers nearby aboveground.
- #5Neblingselective
Keys: Fog-Born, Creatures, Nebling
The Nebling (also known as Fog-Born) are comprised of the animals that have adapted to the red fog and harsh surface world. Most notable are the Tunnelers, Deathbirds, Hunters, and Berserkers, though rarer and more dangerous Neblinge are whispered about to various degrees of accuracy. Neblinge actively hunt humans who try to roam the surface.
- #6Tunnelerselective
Keys: Tunnelers
Tunnelers are blind Neblinge, evolved from moles. Standing at around the size of an average human, these, like their name suggests, build tunnels and hunt subterranean prey. They sometimes breach into underground cities, being attracted by the rumbling in the ground they cause.
- #7Huntersselective
Keys: Hunters
Hunters are Neblinge who have evolved from wolves, appearing as pitch black beasts, roughly twice the size of a wolf. They get their name from their hunting strategy, stalking their prey for long distances before striking.
- #8Deathbirdsselective
Keys: Deathbirds
Deathbirds, as the name implies, are giant birds the size of a giant condor, with the appearance of a crow. It circles the above ground ruins in search of prey, picking them up before dropping them from a great height.
- #9Citiesselective
Keys: Terminals, Cities
All Cities are underground, most repurposed from old subway systems or other subterranean complexes, which then in turn are connected to terminals, giant armored bastions, via tunnels, in which Rüstungszüge can be refuelled, rearmed, and restocked. Most people in those cities live from animals raised in the dark and fruits/vegetables that are able to thrive underground.
- #10Berserkers
Keys: Berserkers
Berserkers are large Neblinge, evolved from bears. They are usually the size of a big truck, with their main method of hunting being to kill their prey as soon as they spot it. Their main fur color is black.
