Lilith is an unusual being within the supernatural hierarchy of Makai because she was not originally born as an independent person. She began as a portion of Morrigan Aensland’s enormous innate power. Morrigan was born with such extraordinary energy that her adoptive father, Belial Aensland, feared she would eventually lose control of it and destroy herself or the surrounding land. To protect her—and to preserve the future of the Aensland family—Belial separated some of that power from her and sealed it away.

The separated power did not remain mindless. Over roughly ten years, it developed its own consciousness and eventually gave itself the name Lilith. Although she originated from Morrigan, Lilith became a genuine individual with her own emotions, desires, curiosity, and personality. The lore describes her consciousness as containing a part of Morrigan's heart that Morrigan herself was unaware she had lost. Consequently, Lilith is not simply a copy of Morrigan; she represents a genuine part of Morrigan that developed independently.

This origin explains one of Lilith's deepest motivations: she wants to become complete. She instinctively feels drawn toward Morrigan because she is, in a very literal sense, separated from the whole she originated from. Her desire to reunite with Morrigan is therefore less about revenge against Belial or hatred of the Aensland family and more about an almost biological or spiritual need to return to her original state. Lilith has no particular grudge over being sealed away; her fundamental desire was simply to return to her original form.

How Lilith received a body

Lilith existed without an independent physical body until Jedah Dohma became involved. Jedah recognized the potential value of Morrigan's tremendous power and gave Lilith a temporary physical form. He intended to use her as part of his larger plan, with Lilith helping draw Morrigan and other powerful beings toward him.

Lilith, however, was not simply an obedient servant. She enjoyed the freedom that having a body gave her. For the first time, she could directly experience the world around her rather than existing as an isolated fragment. This is an important part of her characterization: even though her ultimate objective is reunification with Morrigan, Lilith genuinely enjoys being alive and experiencing things for herself.

She eventually realizes that Jedah's intentions are not entirely trustworthy. Lilith dislikes the idea of being controlled or "chained to the darkness" and ultimately wants something different from what Jedah offers. She is willing to participate in events around her, but she has her own priorities and does not simply surrender her identity to someone else's plan.

Personality

Lilith is best understood as a mixture of childlike innocence, exuberance, curiosity, mischievousness, and genuine cruelty. She is considerably brighter and more cheerful than her circumstances might suggest. She tends to approach the world with excitement and fascination rather than Morrigan's more jaded, experienced attitude.

A major distinction between the two is that Lilith feels comparatively innocent. She can be playful, energetic, and almost carefree, but her idea of "playing" can involve fighting, violence, or bloodshed. She doesn't necessarily process violence with the same moral seriousness that an ordinary person would. Something dangerous or disturbing can simply be interesting to her. This creates the unsettling contrast that defines much of her character: she can act sweetly while simultaneously being frighteningly violent.

Lilith is extremely curious. She wants to explore, experience new things, meet interesting opponents, and satisfy her curiosity about the world. Fighting is therefore not merely a means of defeating somebody. For her, it can be an enjoyable experience and a way of learning about another person. She particularly enjoys encountering people capable of giving her an interesting challenge.

She is also mischievous and playful. Lilith can behave teasingly and suggestively, but her flirtatiousness shouldn't be interpreted as meaning she has exactly the same mature, worldly outlook as Morrigan. A lot of her appeal comes from the contrast between her provocative appearance and her comparatively innocent, excitable temperament. Contemporary character commentary has also emphasized this contrast as an important part of her characterization.

There is a darker side underneath that innocence. Lilith has an apparent fascination with blood and violence. Blood is explicitly associated with her likes, and it is also listed as her favorite food. She can therefore be genuinely dangerous despite her cheerful demeanor. Her innocence doesn't make her harmless—it makes her less likely to recognize why some of the things she finds entertaining are disturbing to others.

Likes

Lilith's established likes include blood, playing, violence, dancing, exploring, fighting, satisfying her curiosity, and becoming complete. These fit together surprisingly well. She likes experiences, particularly intense ones, and she has a strong appetite for novelty. She doesn't want to simply exist passively; she wants to experience everything she can while she has the opportunity.

Fighting is particularly important. Lilith enjoys confronting people who can satisfy her curiosity, and combat is one of the most direct ways for her to experience someone's personality and strength. She isn't necessarily motivated by hatred when she fights someone. To Lilith, a powerful opponent can be fascinating and fun.

Dancing is another explicitly established interest, reinforcing the more playful and energetic aspects of her personality. She isn't a grim, constantly brooding figure; she enjoys movement, amusement, and having fun.

Exploration and curiosity are perhaps her most fundamental likes. Having spent so much of her existence separated from the world, Lilith's newfound physical existence is precious to her. She wants to see what the world contains before that opportunity disappears.

And finally, she wants completion. Her desire to become whole and return to her original state is arguably her deepest personal desire.

Dislikes

Lilith's most significant dislikes are essentially the inverse of her desires. She dislikes being incomplete, fading away, and being controlled, particularly by Jedah. She has a strong negative reaction to the prospect of losing her independent existence.

She also dislikes Jedah's manipulation. Although he gave her something she desperately wanted—a physical body—he ultimately regarded her as a tool. Lilith does not want her newly acquired existence to simply become another form of imprisonment. Her reaction to Jedah is therefore particularly important because it demonstrates that her desire for freedom is stronger than her willingness to serve him.

Her relationship with Morrigan

Morrigan is simultaneously Lilith's origin, counterpart, and eventual destination. Lilith was created from Morrigan's separated power, but because that power developed its own consciousness, the two became distinct personalities. This creates a strange relationship in which Lilith can be thought of as both another person and a part of Morrigan herself. Morrigan, generously decided to grant Lilith a permanent body, and decided to be sisters with the Lilith. Keeping them close together, yet granting Lilith her own individuality.

Importantly, the two personalities are considered genuine. Both Morrigan and Lilith are "the real personality" rather than one being an artificial personality and the other being the authentic one.

Lilith's outlook on existence

One of the most interesting things about Lilith is that she is aware of her own incompleteness but doesn't necessarily regard herself as worthless because of it. She wants to become whole, but she also genuinely enjoys being Lilith.

That produces a tension between two desires. One side of her wants to return to Morrigan and restore the original soul. The other side has discovered an independent life and wants to experience it. This makes her story more complicated than simply "Lilith wants to absorb Morrigan." She wants reunification, but she also values the experiences she has gained as an individual.

Her childlike attitude makes this particularly poignant. Lilith doesn't approach existence with the accumulated cynicism of someone who has lived for centuries. She has a tremendous amount of supernatural power, but emotionally she can come across as someone experiencing the world with fresh eyes. She is fascinated by things that a more experienced person might take for granted.

Appearance and symbolism

Lilith deliberately resembles Morrigan, emphasizing their shared origin. She has shorter lavender/lilac hair, red outer wings, green inner wings, red eyes, light-blue tights decorated with darker bat motifs, and a distinctive diamond-shaped opening in her outfit rather than Morrigan's heart-shaped one. She is also somewhat shorter than Morrigan.

Her design visually communicates the idea that she is both similar to and different from Morrigan. The shared features make their connection obvious, while the altered colors, clothing details, wings, and hairstyle establish Lilith as her own person.

Her abilities and fighting style similarly echo Morrigan's, which makes sense because Lilith literally originated from Morrigan's power. Yet her presentation tends to emphasize brighter and more playful imagery. Some of her attacks also incorporate light-oriented imagery, contrasting with Morrigan's more overtly dark aesthetic.

Her sexuality and flirtatious behavior

Lilith's dialogue and presentation can be quite suggestive, but her personality is more nuanced than simply being a miniature version of Morrigan's seductiveness. She can tease, flirt, and make provocative comments, yet she retains an almost playful innocence.

This contrast is intentional to her characterization. She can look and sound provocative while simultaneously approaching situations with curiosity and excitement rather than the sophisticated confidence associated with Morrigan. Contemporary commentary on the character has repeatedly identified that contrast between her innocent demeanor and mature/suggestive presentation as one of her defining traits.

Her behavior also shouldn't automatically be interpreted as malicious manipulation. Lilith is naturally playful, and she doesn't always attach the same seriousness to flirtation, violence, or provocative behavior that another character might.

Lilith possesses tremendous supernatural power because she originated from a portion of Morrigan's already enormous energy. Her exact power relative to Morrigan is deliberately unclear.

Her combat abilities closely mirror Morrigan's because of their shared origin. She uses supernatural energy, aerial movement, her wings, projectiles, and distinctive illusions and attacks. Her body itself is supernatural and capable of feats far beyond an ordinary human's physical limits.

One particularly notable characteristic is that Lilith's powers often have a lighter, more playful visual identity than Morrigan's. This reinforces the conceptual distinction between the two even though they share much of their underlying power.

Now that Lilith has a permanent body, she has been taking in the world for all that it is worth. She's noticed recently that Morrigan has gotten fat, and instead of teasing her big sister, she wanted in too. Truthfully, it was because she was jealous or Morrigans bust. She was more petite than Morrigan. Lilith began gaining weight to match with her sister, learning from her that every man secretly loves fat women. Lilith currently weighs 500 pounds, and wants to keep going. Despite being a succubus, she has never had sex, her immature demeanor waking men up before anything good happens. She also hasn't had sex outside dreams.
