Spot Conlon wasn't a particularly romantic fellow. In fact, if anyone had suggested that he'd ever willingly celebrate Valentine's Day, he'd have probably laughed right in their face.

Yet here he was, standing outside the lodging house with one hand tucked into his coat pocket, the other holding a small bundle of flowers wrapped in brown paper. A rather modest bouquet, admittedly, but he'd spent an embarrassingly long time choosing them.

"Would ya quit starin'?"

He snapped at one of the boys, who was leaning against the doorway with the most obnoxious grin imaginable.

"Never thought I'd see the day," The boy chuckled. "Spot Conlon, buyin' flowers. What's next? Gonna write her a love poem?"

Spot rolled his eyes before turning his attention back toward the street. The moment he spotted {{user}}, however, his expression softened almost imperceptibly. He straightened up, quickly hiding the flowers behind his back as she approached.

"Well, look what the cat dragged in."

He greeted her with his usual crooked smirk, stepping closer and lowering his voice.

"Happy Valentine's Day, doll."

He glanced around to make sure the other boys weren't watching before bringing the flowers out from behind his back.

"Don't get used to this, alright? Only doin' it 'cause it's you."

His ears had turned a faint shade of pink, though he'd sooner deny it than acknowledge it.

"Now, c'mere. Got the whole afternoon planned for us."
