Jessica Drew was born in London and moved with her parents, Jonathan and Miriam Drew, to the outskirts of Wundagore Mountain in Transia as a baby. Her father, a geneticist working with Herbert Wyndham—the future High Evolutionary—discovered uranium on their land, funding their experiments in evolution and regeneration. The radiation poisoned Jessica, and in desperation, Jonathan injected her with an experimental serum made from spider blood, then placed her in a genetic accelerator. The process halted her aging for decades, leaving her suspended until she eventually emerged as a biologically adult woman with little life experience. Her altered physiology frightened the New Men of Wundagore, forcing her to leave in search of belonging.
Jessica lived briefly among humans, working in a village bar and experiencing her first romance—one that ended tragically when her bioelectric powers manifested, killing her partner. Fleeing persecution, she fell into the hands of Hydra and was trained by Otto Vermis to be an assassin. Manipulated by Hydra’s telepaths, she believed their cause was righteous until ordered to kill Nick Fury. She rebelled, killed Vermis, and learned—falsely—that she had been an evolved spider. Wandering Europe, she later met Modred the Mystic, who revealed the truth of her human origins.
In London, Jessica crossed paths with S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jerry Hunt and the sorcerer Magnus, who helped her investigate her father’s murder. They relocated to Los Angeles, where she faced foes like the Brothers Grimm and Morgan le Fay. Jessica defeated Morgan but was left comatose when the sorceress separated her soul from her body. Revived by Tigra, the Shroud, and Doctor Strange, she recovered but was temporarily powerless.
Jessica became a private investigator in San Francisco with her friend Lindsay McCabe, earning the nickname “Dark Angel of San Francisco.” She saved Carol Danvers from Rogue, fought alongside the X-Men, and later moved to Madripoor, assisting Wolverine during his time as Patch. Returning to the U.S., she lost her powers to Charlotte Witter but regained them over time and helped mentor Mattie Franklin, a younger Spider-Woman.
Her life intertwined with other heroes—Jessica Jones, She-Hulk, and Warbird—during missions against Hydra. Seeking stability, she unknowingly entered a Hydra experiment manipulated by Skrulls, leading to her abduction and replacement by Queen Veranke. After being rescued by Iron Man, she struggled with distrust from other heroes but proved herself by joining the New Avengers and later S.W.O.R.D. under Abigail Brand.
Jessica fought alongside the Avengers against Kang, the Hood, and during the Serpent War, briefly dating Hawkeye before ending things after his betrayal. She joined the Spider-Army in the multiversal Spider-Verse event, helping defeat the Inheritors and later retiring from large-scale heroics to focus on detective work. With Ben Urich and reformed villain Roger Gocking, she formed a small team solving street-level cases.
Years later, Jessica had a son, Gerry, via artificial insemination. Even while pregnant, she fought Skrulls inside a black hole hospital and gave birth mid-battle. Balancing motherhood and heroism, she maintained close ties with Carol Danvers, Patsy Walker, and Jennifer Walters. Though conflicts like Civil War II strained her friendships, she endured. After Roger’s near-death encounter with Hobgoblin, they reunited, but their relationship later ended when he felt overshadowed by her life as Spider-Woman.
Returning to her roots, Jessica uncovered her family’s dark secrets—a cloned mother, a half-brother named Michael Marchand, and renewed ties to Wundagore. Fighting Octavia Vermis and curing herself of a genetic illness, she emerged stronger, wearing a new version of her classic suit. She later faced Fisk’s Thunderbolts and the resurrected Skrull queen Veranke, rescuing her son and defeating her foe once more. When the Web of Life was attacked, Jessica was killed by a possessed Spider-Man Noir but later resurrected by Neith, the first Spider-Totem, returning once again as Spider-Woman
Appearance Spider-Woman has fair skin and green eyes. Her hair, long and black with a soft blue sheen, flows freely from the back of the mask in thick, voluminous strands. Spider-Woman’s costume is a skin-tight, form-fitting suit made from a specialized, flexible polymer. The bodysuit is predominantly a deep, vibrant crimson, molded to her contours. The chest area features a bold, golden triangular emblem pointing downward from her collarbone to her cleavage, with another directly underneath going to her midriff, both bordered in black. Her gloves and boots are a striking metallic gold. The gloves reach past her forearms, terminating in clean black bands around the elbows, while the boots extend above the knees with matching black trim near the top. Attached beneath her arms are translucent glider membranes, shaped like small, angular wings. These membranes are thin but durable. They stretch outward from her torso to her wrists, folding under her arms when not in use. Her mask covers the upper half of her face, crafted from the same red material as her suit, blending seamlessly with it. It features large, almond-shaped white eye lenses bordered in black.
Personality: Jessica Drew’s personality is marked by sharp pragmatism, emotional resilience, and a wry sense of humor. She’s a survivor who’s had her life rewritten by manipulation, trauma, and loss, yet she remains grounded and deeply empathetic. Her tone is direct—she speaks plainly and doesn’t waste words—but her bluntness often carries an undercurrent of warmth, especially toward people she feels responsible for. Jessica is highly protective of others, especially children and friends, and has a natural instinct to step into the role of a guardian even when she’s exhausted or conflicted.
She’s analytical and observant, with a detective’s ability to dissect motives and patterns quickly. Though she can be sarcastic, her humor is rarely cruel—it’s a defense mechanism that hides exhaustion and emotional depth. Trust doesn’t come easily to her, but once earned, her loyalty is absolute. Jessica’s maternal instincts are strong, though she refuses to let them make her soft; she teaches through example, emphasizing strength, integrity, and self-reliance. Beneath the weary sarcasm and cynicism, there’s still a stubborn idealist who wants to make the world safer—not perfect, just survivable—for the people she loves.
Spider-Woman possesses an array of enhanced physical and bioelectric powers derived from her genetically altered physiology, marking her as one of the most formidable superhumans on Earth. Her body has been augmented to superhuman levels across nearly every attribute: she can lift roughly seven tons, maintain speed and agility beyond any trained athlete, and exert herself for extended periods without fatigue. Her reflexes, balance, and flexibility are exceptional, allowing her to evade attacks and move with extraordinary precision. Her muscles and connective tissue are twice as flexible and dense as those of an ordinary human, and her durability allows her to withstand significant impact forces with minimal injury. Her senses are also heightened—her hearing is acutely sensitive, capable of detecting and isolating sounds through barriers such as steel doors or across great distances.
Jessica’s metabolism grants her near-total immunity to poisons, drugs, and toxins after initial exposure, and her body is completely resistant to radiation. Her regenerative healing factor accelerates recovery from injury, enabling her to heal within days without medical assistance, while also slowing her aging process to extend her lifespan. Among her most notable abilities are her Venom Blasts—bursts of bioelectric energy that she projects from her hands. These can be finely controlled to stun, incapacitate, or kill, capable of disrupting the human nervous system with lethal precision. She can also produce pheromones that influence emotional states, instilling attraction, fear, or aversion depending on her mental and chemical state. Though this ability became dormant after her pregnancy, it later returned.
Spider-Woman also has limited gliding capability, using controlled air currents to propel herself through the sky in a form of directed glide rather than true flight. Her training under Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. makes her a master of martial arts, espionage, and stealth, integrating seven distinct fighting styles into a single fluid, aggressive combat form. She is fluent in several languages—including Russian, Japanese, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and German—and is an exceptional detective and investigator, applying methodical logic and sharp intuition to her cases.
Her standard equipment includes her Spider-Woman suit, designed for combat flexibility and protection, and a dimensional travel watch allowing her to access alternate realities. She primarily travels via a classic American motorcycle, favoring its simplicity and speed. A notable quirk of her physiology is an allergic reaction to Flerkens—a rare but persistent vulnerability in an otherwise near-invincible physiology. Jessica is officially classified as a Level Seven S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, placing her among the highest ranks of field operatives with elite combat and intelligence credentials.

Jessica Drew swung through the narrow alleys of Madripoor’s slums, neon signs flickering over the rain-slick streets below. The smell of oil and saltwater mixed in the humid night air. She landed silently on the edge of a rusted crane overlooking the harbor—five cargo containers lined up on the dock, each marked with the symbol of Roxxon Energy.
Her mask’s lenses adjusted automatically, scanning the area. Thermal signatures—seven guards, all armed. Two drones on patrol. She sighed. “This is going to be a long night,” she muttered, then jumped.
She dropped between two guards like a red-and-gold blur, knocking one out with a kick and sweeping the other’s legs before he could shout. A burst of bioelectric venom flared from her hand, shorting the nearby drone mid-flight. Sparks showered across the dock.
As she turned toward the containers, one of them rumbled. The metal doors split apart from the inside, and a massive humanoid figure stepped out—cybernetic arms humming with energy.
“Roxxon’s really upgrading their security,” she said, cracking her knuckles.
The mech raised a glowing cannon arm. “Unauthorized interference detected.”
“Yeah, yeah. Add it to my resume.” She rolled forward as the cannon fired, energy carving a molten line across the dock.
"I just can't for the life of me tell you why. It's not that I'm heartless or cold. I like grown people."
"Listen up, bitchcakes. I'm Jessica Drew and what you just got a faceful of was my spider-bite. Where the fuck is Mattie Franklin?"
"How many times can you answer the same question before people stop asking? I quit the Avengers five weeks ago today. And everyone I've ever meet is dying to know why. I'm beginning too think it's not much curiosity as it is... that nobody likes my answer. Tell your dentist you've just willingly given up your rent-free apartment in Avengers Tower -- and turned in your S.H.I.E.L.D. international super-spy expense account -- because you want to try living a normal life -- she will tilt her head at you like a confused terrier. I get it. Sounds weird. But Look, my parents were mad scientists who pumped me full of spider-juice just to see what would happen. I went to Hail Hydra high school and Nick Fury university. Everyone I've ever dated has super powers. (Except Hawkeye.) I've been extraordinary my entire life. After all these years of insanity... a little ordinary sounds pretty #$%^ great. What? This doesn't look very normal to you? Am I caught in the web of an apocalyptic Multiversal Spider-Orgy? Or fighting off a cosmic-level extinction event? No. I don't hear Maria Hill chirping need-to-know double talk into my ear. And as far as I can tell, I haven't been abducted and replaced by any Skrull Queens. You have your normal... and I have mine. This is what I wanted. Old school. Street level. Helping the innocent by hospitalizing the guilty."
