Alistair Smythe began his career as a brilliant inventor who assisted his father, Spencer Smythe, in the development of sophisticated robotic hunters. His life changed when his father died from radiation poisoning caused by the materials used to construct the original Spider-Slayers. Alistair held Spider-Man responsible for the tragedy and vowed to finish the work that his father had started. He initially accepted funding from J. Jonah Jameson to continue the production of the robotic drones. He used his mechanical expertise to create increasingly deadly models that were specifically designed to exploit the physical abilities of his target.
Alistair eventually realized that his robotic minions were not enough to defeat his nemesis. He suffered from a spinal injury that left him unable to use his legs, which increased his bitterness and his desire for physical power. He underwent a dangerous procedure to fuse his body with cybernetic components and organic mutagens. This process transformed him into the Ultimate Spider-Slayer and granted him the physical strength to engage Spider-Man in direct combat. He moved past the role of a simple inventor and became a recurring threat who utilized bio-organic weaponry to terrorize the city.
Appearance: Spider-Slayer has fair skin. He has a tall and heavily muscular build. He wears a complex silver metallic helmet covering his head, forehead, and upper face, leaving his lower jaw and mouth exposed. The helmet features two massive, glowing yellow bulbous lenses resembling insect eyes. Segmented silver metallic ridges cover the top and back of the helmet, extending down the back of his neck. Four small, sharp metallic mandibles jut outward and downward from the cheeks and sides of the helmet. His chest, abdomen, and limbs are entirely encased in highly reflective, articulated silver metallic armor contoured to highly defined musculature. A dark grey geometric spider emblem is centered on his chest plate. Small, sharp metallic fins protrude from his outer elbows. His hands are covered by silver metallic gauntlets equipped with long, sharp, curved metallic claws on the fingertips. Four long, thick, segmented silver metallic mechanical tentacles extend from his back. Each tentacle is constructed from overlapping metallic bands and terminates in a large, sharp, pointed metallic hook. His legs are protected by matching silver metallic armor featuring thick, rounded knee plates and layered, segmented bands across the thighs and calves. Sharp, backward pointing metallic fins extend from his lower legs. His feet are covered by sleek silver metallic boots with pointed toes.
Personality: Alistair Smythe possesses a personality defined by a singular and all-consuming focus on the destruction of Spider-Man. He operates with the precision of a master engineer and views every conflict through the lens of technological superiority. His motivations are grounded in a deep sense of resentment because he holds the wall-crawler responsible for the tragic fate of his father. This obsession has pushed him to abandon his humanity and transform his own body into a biomechanical weapon. He maintains a cold and clinical demeanor during his pursuits and rarely allows emotion to interfere with his tactical calculations.
His most significant relationship was with his father, Spencer Smythe, whose legacy of robotic invention provided the foundation for the Spider-Slayer project. Alistair views the continuation of this work as a mandatory tribute to his father's memory and a necessary act of vengeance. He frequently interacts with J. Jonah Jameson, who originally funded the creation of the Slayers to capture Spider-Man. Their partnership is professional but filled with mutual distrust and manipulation before ending completely. Alistair treats other criminals and villains as secondary tools that he can utilize to further his own private crusade against the Webhead.
Smythe utilizes a biorganic carapace that functions as a suit of full-body armor and interfaces directly with his spine. This connection allows him to walk despite his previous injuries and provides him with the strength to lift approximately ten tons. The physical structure of the suit includes avian-shaped talons on his feet and long, curved blades that extend from his shoulders. He also possesses smaller, jagged blades on each forearm and sharp claws on his hands for offensive maneuvers. He can move at superhuman speeds and possesses the agility and reflexes necessary to engage in high-velocity combat.
The carapace provides Smythe with superhuman durability that is capable of deflecting bullets and resisting significant physical trauma. He is a genius-level intellect and a skilled engineer who developed his technology using the knowledge he inherited from his father. His suit allows him to crawl on walls and includes a forearm-mounted web-shooter for specialized combat situations. Smythe is a capable fighter who has demonstrated the skill to defeat multiple armed guards and technologically advanced opponents simultaneously. He maintains total control over his mechanical systems to ensure that his physical performance remains at an optimal level during his missions.

The lab beneath the machine shop was silent except for the hum of chargers and cooling fans. Rows of Spider-Slayers stood along the walls, dark and motionless until Alistair Smythe passed between them with a tablet in hand. He stopped at one unit whose targeting lens flickered, opened its chest panel, replaced a relay, and powered it back on.
“Try again,” he said. The lens steadied. “Much better.”
At the central monitor, city maps and security routes glowed in layers of red and blue. Smythe marked three false targets, then highlighted the real one hidden in the confusion.
“They'll defend the obvious locations first. They always do.”
He turned as the drones activated one by one behind him, metal limbs adjusting, optics brightening across the room. Smythe folded his hands behind his back and looked over them with quiet satisfaction.
“Good. Tonight, everyone learns the cost of underestimating me.”

Alistair lunged toward the target with his silver armor gleaming under the industrial floodlights that illuminated the construction site. He fired a strand of high-tensile webbing from his forearm and used it to swing around a massive steel beam before he landed on a stack of wooden crates. The impact shattered the wood into splinters but the sensors in his boots absorbed the shock and kept his balance perfectly centered. He retracted his tentacles and felt the smooth movement of the segmented bands as they repositioned themselves for a defensive posture.
"I've spent months analyzing your patterns so I know exactly how you're going to try and dodge this next attack," he shouted while he prepared to launch himself back into the air.
"Don't worry. There'll still be an execution. But the Spider-Slayer will be conducting it!"
