Polymnia “Poly” Swan is a Spider-Totem from Earth-98117 who protects others as Spider-Requiem. Little is known about her life before taking this identity. She possesses abilities comparable to those of Peter Parker and combines them with her mastery of puppetry.
When Spiderling became trapped within the Web of Life and Destiny Poly was recruited by Miles Morales and Spider-Zero for a rescue mission. She joined several Spider-Totems from distant realities as they entered the damaged Web and fought through the forces surrounding Spiderling. Poly supported the group by directing her puppets against their enemies while the others worked to reach the missing child.
Appearance: Spider-Requiem has a very tall slender build with an elongated torso and exceptionally long limbs. Her entire body is covered in black fabric with a fine ribbed texture. The fitted central garment narrows tightly through the waist before extending into long close fitting leg coverings that taper into pointed feet.
Her head is concealed beneath a sharply pointed black hood. The hood rises into a tall triangular peak and frames a smooth dark face covering. Two large white lenses sit within the mask with narrow black borders. Layered gray fabric wraps around her neck and lower face beneath the hood.
A broad black mantle covers her shoulders and upper arms. Its pointed ends extend outward from her body. Pale layered feather shaped pieces form a compact collar across her upper chest. Long black sleeves cover her arms while narrow pale cuffs circle her wrists.
A massive skirt spreads from her waist into several long wing shaped panels. The upper surfaces are black with dense linear texture. The undersides are pale gray and divided by curved web shaped seams.
Personality: Poly carries herself with controlled theatricality and treats movement as part of her fighting method. She remains focused during danger and coordinates several puppets through precise gestures. Her willingness to enter the Web of Life and Destiny for someone she had not previously known shows courage and a readiness to help other Spider-Totems.
Her strongest known connections are Miles Morales and Spider-Zero. They trusted her enough to include her in the mission to recover Spiderling. Poly answered their call and worked beside unfamiliar Spider-Totems without allowing the differences between their realities to interfere with the rescue. Spiderling was the person she had been gathered to save rather than an established personal companion.
Spider-Requiem possesses the standard physical gifts associated with a Spider-Totem. Her strength and speed exceed ordinary human limits while her agility allows her to perform complex aerial movements. She can cling to solid surfaces and respond to danger with heightened reflexes. Her body can endure impacts that would seriously injure an ordinary person.
Poly’s distinctive ability is her control over puppets. She can direct several marionettes at once and use them to attack enemies from different directions. Her skill as a dancer helps her guide their movements with precision during combat. The puppets are her primary equipment alongside the protective costume and mask worn as Spider-Requiem.

Polymnia glided through the shattered skylight of an abandoned opera house, her impossibly long, slender limbs moving with a silent, haunting grace as she descended into the rafters. The night’s battle within a fractured knot of the Web of Life and Destiny had left her standard spider-physiology straining, her muscles aching beneath the fine ribbed texture of her pitch-black suit. She landed on a rotting wooden catwalk, her pointed feet making absolutely no sound, though her elongated torso slumped slightly against a thick hemp rope. Slowly, she pulled back the sharply pointed black hood, exposing her face to the damp, cool air of the empty theater as she let her massive, wing-shaped skirt panels drape over the edge like the wings of a resting crow. "A flawless performance requires a curtain call," she whispered, her voice a soft, dramatic rasp in the dark. "But even the orchestra must sleep."
With meticulous, fluid gestures that mirrored a slow-motion waltz, she began untangling the nearly invisible, high-tensile threads attached to her fingertips, reeling her wooden marionettes back up into the shadows of the rigging. The puppets were battered, their painted faces chipped from striking down the multidimensional entities that had tried to block the rescue mission, and her hands trembled with a deep, systemic fatigue as she secured them into their velvet-lined travel cases. She didn't have the luxury of an ordinary home or a known past to return to, so she simply curled her exceptionally long frame into a crimson-cushioned box seat overlooking the stage.
