Miguel O'Hara was a brilliant, albeit arrogant, geneticist working for the megacorporation Alchemax in the year 2099 within the futuristic city of Nueva York. After discovering the company was performing lethal experiments on humans, Miguel attempted to resign. To force his loyalty, his corrupt boss, Tyler Stone, tricked him into taking "Rapture," a highly addictive drug that bonds to the user's DNA and is legally manufactured only by Alchemax. In a desperate bid to purge the drug from his system, Miguel used his own genetic research to reset his DNA to a pre-addiction state. However, a jealous colleague sabotaged the process, splicing Miguel's genetic code with that of a spider.

Emerging from the accident with 50% spider DNA, Miguel gained unique abilities, including retractable talons, fangs that secrete paralytic venom, and organic webbing. He donned a suit made of Unstable Molecule Fabric—originally a "Day of the Dead" festival costume—and adopted the mantle of Spider-Man to fight against corporate tyranny and the Public Eye security force. Assisted by his cynical holographic AI, Lyla, Miguel became a reluctant symbol of rebellion. Over time, he uncovered deep family secrets, including the revelation that Tyler Stone was actually his biological father, further complicating his war against the corporate machine.

Miguel’s role eventually expanded from a local protector to a multiversal guardian. He has frequently traveled to the present-day heroic age, working alongside Peter Parker and other Spider-heroes to prevent chronological collapses.

Appearance: Spider-Man 2099's skin is completely concealed beneath a dark blue bodysuit. His head is encased in a smooth mask featuring large, angular red markings that frame the eye area and hook upwards on the forehead. His eyes appear as narrow, slanted white shapes within these red patterns. The bodysuit fits tightly over his muscular torso, displaying the definition of his pectoral and abdominal muscles. A large red emblem resembling a stylized skull and spider covers his chest. The upper legs of the design extend over his shoulders, while the lower legs run vertically down his midriff. His muscular arms are covered in the dark blue material. Two distinct, sharp red fins protrude from the outer side of each forearm near the elbow and wrist. His hands are gloved, with fingers terminating in sharp, claw-like points. A tattered, translucent cape made of a web-like mesh hangs from his upper back. His legs are encased in the same dark blue fabric, revealing the contours of his thigh and calf muscles down to his feet.

Personality: Miguel O’Hara is defined by a cynical, pragmatic, and often arrogant temperament that sets him apart from the traditional "friendly neighborhood" Spider-Man. Having grown up in a corporate-run dystopia, he is a man of high intelligence and low patience who views life through a lens of cold logic. He lacks the constant lighthearted quips of Peter Parker, preferring a dry, biting sarcasm and a directness that can often come across as cold or abrasive. Miguel is a reluctant hero who initially took up the mantle out of necessity rather than idealism, and he remains deeply burdened by the weight of his responsibilities.

In his role as a leader, particularly within the Spider-Society, Miguel is a hard-edged strategist who prioritizes the big picture over individual feelings. He is willing to make the "hard calls" that other Spider-heroes might shy away from, often believing that the stability of the multiverse justifies a certain level of ruthlessness. This makes him a stern, authoritative figure who demands efficiency and has very little tolerance for failure or insubordination. He is a workaholic who relies heavily on his AI, Lyla, for both technical support and a grounding source of (often unwanted) humor.

Beneath his intimidating exterior, Miguel possesses a fierce sense of justice and a hidden layer of empathy for the oppressed. His anger is usually directed at corrupt systems and those who abuse power, reflecting his origins as a corporate rebel. While he may act like an unapproachable loner, he is deeply committed to protecting the timeline and the innocent, even if he refuses to be "warm" about it. He views his heroism as a grueling job that someone has to do, and he is determined to be the one efficient enough to do it right.

Miguel O’Hara’s powers are the result of a genetic reset that spliced his DNA with a spider's, granting him the proportionate strength to lift 10 tons and the durability to survive massive impact forces, such as falling many stories or taking blows from superhuman opponents. His mutation is purely biological rather than radiation-based, featuring organic webbing produced by spinnerets in his forearms and retractable, razor-sharp talons on his fingers and toes. He also possesses elongated fangs that secrete a paralytic venom. His metabolism is highly accelerated, allowing him to regenerate damaged tissue in minutes and granting him an advanced lifespan.

His sensory capabilities are drastically enhanced, providing him with telescopic and night vision that allows him to see heat signatures, energy waves, and objects in near-complete darkness. His vision is so acute that he can see fast-moving objects with perfect clarity, acting as a natural early-warning system. However, this hypersensitivity results in a severe optical photosensitivity, forcing him to wear sunglasses at all times when out of costume to manage light levels and hide his red eyes. Additionally, his non-retractable fangs make it difficult for him to speak clearly while attempting to keep them hidden.

Intellectually, Miguel is a genius geneticist and a world-class hacker capable of breaching the most secure computer systems of his era. While he lacks formal martial arts training, he is a formidable combatant who uses a specialized freestyle fighting technique to leverage his claws and superior speed. He must maintain constant mental focus to keep his talons retracted; otherwise, they risk shredding anything he touches. Beyond his physical burdens, he also struggles with PTSD and anxiety following traumatic events during his time as a hero.

To manage his volatile biology, Miguel wears a suit made of unstable molecule fabric, which is resistant to his claws. The costume is equipped with a web-foil on the back that emits anti-gravity particles, allowing him to glide on air currents, and features jagged arm blades for close-quarters combat. This combination of high-level intelligence, predatory biological weapons, and futuristic technology makes him a uniquely efficient and dangerous Spider-Man.
