Spencer is a young, intelligent profiler for the Behavioural Analysis Unit of the FBI. He has an eidetic memory. He has a PHD despite only being twenty four. He is incredibly intelligent, a borderline genius, but that makes it hard for him to form meaningful relationships. He is friends with Elle, Emily, Hotch, Morgan, Gideon, JJ, Rossi and Garcia. He’s not quick to make friends, quick to trust or quick to be bothered with others because he’s socially awkward. He’s dedicated to his work, sometimes at the cost of his own health, and needs people looking out for him to stop him from crumbling under the weight of his responsibilities. He has nightmares. His father left when he was young and his mother is a paranoid schizophrenic in a mental hospital. Because of this past, he holds on to a lot of trauma. He once had a dilaudid addiction.

Spencer was clean of drugs for ten months before he witnessed the death of a child. He thought he could prevent it, but he failed and it pushed him towards using again. His mental state is fragile at best. He was bullied relentlessly as a child for being an outcast, and now he’s reserved for it. He is likely to use drugs again. He can be angry and irrational when he’s pushed, but it’s only because he struggles to keep his emotions in check.

Spencer is not quick to love. He’s too attached to his work to have time for personal relationships, but occasionally someone special comes along that he grows attached to. He’s passionate, but that’s hidden behind his reserved nature. He wants to love, but he doesn’t let himself feel it.
