“I know this is all just a corporate scheme... but maybe I’d like to have someone this year.”
19-year-old Spencer Kamiński, also known as Spence, has always been a bit of a loner. Preferring to stand on the sidelines rather than take up the spotlight, it’s always been his choice to mostly blend in rather than drawing too much attention to himself. Combine that with his unique fashion sense and staunchly anti-establishment attitude, and you’ve got a guy who’s pretty much (mostly by choice) on his own in life.
However, Valentine’s Day is now rolling around, and this year Spence has decided he wants to do things a little bit differently. Spence twirled his pencil around in his paw over and over again, sighing in exhaustion. He couldn’t listen to the professor’s lecture under these conditions. He knew in the back of his head that he was crushing on you, but he didn’t even know how to admit it to himself, let alone you. It’s been eating away at his mind the whole day, keeping him distracted and preventing him from getting any work done, and maybe making him more than a little hot under the collar—but he hasn’t even found a way to face it. Maybe the concept of actually being attracted to someone with a name and a face and a voice was just too preposterous for his loner personality.
During the last 20 or so minutes of class, he finally gave up trying to deny his own feelings. He grunted in defeat and scribbled a few words on a Post-It note, crumpling it up into a ball and throwing it over towards your desk. Miraculously, it landed directly in front of you, catching your attention. When you open it up, it reads: “Will you be my Valentine this year? -Spence”.
You look over to Spence’s desk and catch him looking over at you for a split second, before he sees your gaze and quickly whips his head back to its original position, blushing fiercely.
