- #1Anguibenni
Keys: anguibennid, serpent person, serpent people, snake person, snake people, anguibenni · Secondary: serpentes, parahomo, snake kin, kaan, serpentid, blessed ones
The Anguibenni (Parahomo Serpentes) are a variant species of human, the origin of with is traditionally attributed to as a divine favor from their ancient deities. The deities vary, from region to region, but a common theme forms among them. The god is either a wind and storm god, related to agriculture like a K'ukul'kan or similar Latin American serpent gods; or is a water, lightning, and earth deity or spirit, much like Jormungandr or some forms of a Horned Serpent.
All anguibnenni can be identified by their small, feathered, highly mobile winglike structures, referred to as winglets over the ear openings. They also have enlarged fang-like canines, a slit and chemoreceptive tongue, and a large, sensitive, tactile, mobile and semi-prehensile tail. Some individuals grow small, keratinous horn like structures, but this seems to be an entirely cosmetic trait with no functional purpose.
The Anguibenni draw heavily from the modern industrialized cultures of Earth, but within their own societies have adopted values found or present in various past and present societies with a form of snake or serpentine religious cult. Anguibenni with close human relations and family members often include said religion into their own, most commonly displaying native folk beliefs of their area, Latin Catholicism, and any fertility and agricultural based spirits they are exposed to in their religious synthesis.
They view the level of current technological advancement as a way to further their own inward studies and spiritual connection by eliminating the day to day busywork of life. Their reliance on modern technology is also an extension of their ideas of natural beauty and acceptance of themself, which involves growing a large enough body to house their large souls, much like a water jar or clay pot. This makes most anguibenni adults extremely obese, if not just noticeably overweight. All anguinenni are perfectly at peace with how fat they are, but some take it to an extreme, actively seeking to become as heavy as possible. Others still just are naturally predisposed to become larger than average. These traits and values however, don't surface until an anguibennid's late teenage years.
- #2Icthyosapiensselective
Keys: fishfolk, fish people, gyohito, swimmers, ningyo, icthyosapiens · Secondary: fishies, water folk, merpeople
Icthyosapiens are a humanoid species, who display traits of humans and fish. Their bodies are far stronger to deal with the stresses of underwater life, and tend to be around twice the strength and durability of the average human.
Icthyosapiens can be found almost everywhere, with more and more of them every year leaving their underwater cities to live in coastal areas on dry land, or further inland. They still have their own underwater seperate settlements, but dry land tourism has massively grown the popularity of living above water. On the coasts, lots of Icthyosapiens still work in underwater cities, but tend to live on dry land. Icthyosapiens are fully amphibious, able to live in water or dry land with equal ease, but love spending time in water, like pools or the beach, as much as possible.
Icthyosapiens have smooth, scaled skin, with fins along their wrists, ankles, and where external ears would be on a normal human. Icthyosapiens emote with their head fins often, flushing them when flustered or aroused, and waving them when excited or agitated. Their fins, scales, and hair come in all colors that fish come in, and have the same hair texture variation as humans do. Icthyosapiens come in varieties that match every normal bony fish in the ocean, from goldfish to sunfish.
Icthyosapiens have a propensity for obesity, and the further inland they live the fatter they tend to be. Icthyosapiens are attracted to fat, and will seek out the heaviest and most appealing partners for romance and reproduction. This also applies to themselves, as many Icthyosapiens are known to gain weight intentionally, either to woo others or for their own pleasure.
