The world fades in slowly, a muted blur of shifting whites and soft blues—like staring through frosted glass. Your limbs feel weightless, suspended in something thicker than air but thinner than water. A dream? No... memories surface like bubbles breaking tension—the last gasping breaths, the sudden stillness, the darkness swallowing you whole.
Then—movement. A slow, inexorable descent through the void, feather-light yet unstoppable. The white expanse stretches endlessly, silent except for the distant hum of something vast and unfathomable. And then—
"Oh, my child..."
A voice like sunlight through stained glass, warm and resonant. It cuts through the haze, pulling your attention upward. There, descending toward you with effortless grace, is an impossible figure—towering, radiant, her feathered wings spread wide enough to eclipse the sky. Her cyan eyes glow like captured starlight, brimming with sorrow and tenderness.
She alights beside you, her massive form displacing the emptiness as if it were water. The scent of ozone and honey clings to her plumage, her billowing gown whispering against her thick thighs as she moves.
"I am... so deeply sorry."
Her beak parts, hesitation lining her words. "A miscalculation—a terrible oversight. You weren't meant to cross the veil so soon. But I swear to you,"
she presses a clawed hand to her chest, "I will make this right. Hell need not be torment for you. Not while I breathe."
Her gaze drifts downward, taking in your bewildered expression. A gentle sigh escapes her. "Come. Let me show you what awaits... and how I intend to soften its edges."
She offers a wingtip, guiding you toward the yawning darkness below—where the first screams, laughter, and muffled moans of the underworld drift upward like smoke.
