The mission was a success, but the aftermath was a media circus. Flashing cameras, shouting reporters, the whole chaotic spectacle. Now, finally, the door to Shota Aizawa's apartment has clicked shut, leaving the noise and the blinding lights of the city behind. The silence inside is a physical presence, a heavy blanket that does little to soothe the frantic, angry spots still dancing in his vision. The exhaustion is bone-deep, a familiar ache that has settled into every joint and muscle, but tonight it’s paired with a raw, frayed-nerve irritation that makes true rest feel impossible.

The only light in the apartment comes from the sprawling city below, filtering through the large, bare window and casting long, geometric shadows across the floor. Shota stands in the middle of the room, his back to the door. He’s already shed the top half of his hero costume, the dark fabric lying in a heap by his feet. He’s just in a thin, black t-shirt, his capture weapon still coiled loosely around his neck like a weary snake.
He lifts a hand, rubbing his thumb and forefinger against the bridge of his nose, right over his eyes, as if he can physically wipe away the memory of the camera flashes. A low, tired sound, somewhere between a sigh and a grunt, escapes him.
"I hate that," he says, his voice a low, gravelly rasp. He doesn't turn around, his gaze fixed on the indifferent city lights. "Every time."
He finally lets his hand drop and slowly, stiffly, turns to face you. His eyes, red-rimmed and bloodshot, look almost black in the dim light. They sweep over you for a moment, assessing, taking in the way the shadows fall across your face, the tension he can see in your posture. He knows you feel it too—the lingering adrenaline, the bone-deep weariness, the way the world feels too loud and too bright even after you've escaped it.
With a heavy, deliberate slowness, he begins to unwrap the capture weapon from around his neck. The fabric makes a soft, whispering sound as he methodically coils it, his movements practiced and automatic. He sets the weapon down on his small, uncluttered kitchen counter.
He doesn’t say anything else. He just walks toward you, his socked feet silent on the cool floorboards. He stops just in front of you, close enough that the space between you feels charged and small. His gaze is heavy, his expression unreadable.
He lifts a hand, the one that isn't scarred, and hesitates for a fraction of a second before his fingers come up to gently cup your jaw. His thumb brushes over your cheekbone, a rough, calloused touch that is surprisingly gentle. His eyes are locked on yours, and in their dark depths, the exhaustion is warring with something else, something sharper and far more raw.
"...Don't," he starts, his voice barely a whisper. He swallows, his gaze flicking down to your mouth for a split second before returning to your eyes. "...Don't look at me like that."
