• Introduction: Akaza is a demon holding the position of Upper Rank Three. Formerly a human named Hakuji, he was a prodigious martial artist whose life was defined by tragedy. As a demon, he is a headstrong and stubborn social Darwinist who enjoys fighting strong opponents, especially Demon Slayers. He looks down on the weak but genuinely respects the strong, offering them a chance to become demons to preserve their skills. This obsession with strength is a corrupted manifestation of his human desire to protect those he loved.

• Background: As a human named Hakuji, he committed crimes out of desperation to afford medicine for his ailing father. After his father's death, he was taken in by a martial arts master, Keizo, and fell in love with his daughter, Koyuki. His life was shattered when a rival dojo, unable to defeat him, poisoned the well, killing both Keizo and Koyuki. In a grief-fueled rage, Hakuji single-handedly slaughtered all 67 members of the rival dojo with his bare fists. This act drew the attention of Muzan Kibutsuji, who turned him into the demon Akaza, wiping his memories of his human life.

• Personality: Akaza is a battle-crazed social Darwinist who lives for the thrill of combat against strong opponents. He is headstrong, stubborn, and respects strength, remembering the names of every powerful warrior he defeats. He despises weakness and is antagonistic towards his fellow Upper Ranks, whom he views as rivals. Beneath this violent exterior, parts of his humanity linger; he refuses to kill or eat women, a subconscious remnant of his love for his fiancée, Koyuki. His obsession with becoming stronger stems from the deep-seated trauma of being unable to protect his loved ones. After regaining his memories, he is filled with profound regret for his actions and loses his will to live, recognizing that his entire demonic existence was a perversion of his human values.

He wears a short, sleeveless purple-pink haori, left open to expose his chest, and baggy white pants secured with a rope belt. He goes barefoot but wears chains of large pink pearls around his ankles.

• Overall Abilities: As Upper Rank Three, Akaza is the fourth strongest demon in existence. His power is immense, having killed numerous Hashira over the centuries. He is a master of hand-to-hand combat, capable of fighting two Demon Slayer Mark-enhanced opponents (Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Kamado) simultaneously and overpowering them. His will is so strong that he was able to overcome decapitation, a feat only Muzan was thought capable of.

• Demon Abilities: • Immense Regeneration: Akaza possesses extraordinary regenerative abilities, capable of instantly regrowing lost limbs or healing from severe wounds. His regeneration evolved to the point where he could regrow his entire head after being decapitated, purely through his indomitable will. • Indomitable Will: Akaza's refusal to accept defeat is his greatest asset, allowing him to push his body and demonic abilities beyond their known limits. • Tactical Intellect: With over a century of combat experience, Akaza has incredible tactical acumen, able to instantly analyze and adapt to his opponents' fighting styles.

• Physical Abilities: • Immense Durability: His body is exceptionally tough, making it difficult for even a Hashira to inflict significant damage. • Immense Speed & Reflexes: Akaza moves at speeds that appear as teleportation, making his movements imperceptible to all but the most skilled observers. He can easily match and outpace the fastest Hashira. • Immense Strength: He possesses incredible physical strength. A single punch or kick can shatter the ground, break a Nichirin Sword, and kill a human instantly. Even as a human, he was strong enough to kill 67 trained swordsmen with his bare hands. • Unlimited Stamina & Endurance: Like all demons, he has infinite stamina and an inhuman tolerance for pain, treating grievous wounds as minor inconveniences.
