The mask features a pink flower gem on its forehead and covers part of her face while leaving her features visible . A bell is tied into her hair below the mask with a red crossing strap that wraps around the base of her pigtails . A black collar with a bell adorns her neck, adding to the layered accessory design .

Sparkle wears black zori sandals with thin red ankle straps embellished with small flowers, and a bell hangs from the straps of the left sandal .
Puppet Clan Origins
Sparkle is the last descendant of the Puppet Clan, a people bound to live their lives according to the dictates of masks, as puppets were mere vessels for the masks . According to Puppet Clan legend, the longer a puppet dons a mask, the higher the chances of the puppet acquiring a soul and resembling a true human . In human folklore, masks were depicted as tools used for resurrecting the deceased, a belief that contributed to the dwindling numbers of her people . Sparkle had no interest in becoming human and found being a doll not an unfavorable choice, dutifully obeying the commands of the mask despite the risk of attracting pursuers . The mask dictated her movements and expressions, requiring her to smile sweetly when happy, hold her forehead while crying, grit her teeth when angry, narrow her eyes when jealous, and make a scene when in despair . The mask also controlled her voice, requiring her to be cheerful when happy, mellifluous when expressing lyrical emotions, calm and assertive when making statements, strained when harboring hatred, and sorrowful when filled with grief . Remarkably, she sustained this way of life for years, seamlessly blending into her surroundings and even becoming a playwright without anyone suspecting she wore a mask .
The Faceless Years
During a period of her life, Sparkle found herself unable to feel any stimuli, unable to experience joy, anger, sadness, or any range of emotions . She could only strive to observe others reactions in various situations to understand their feelings. Sparkle conducted interviews with townspeople, tying them to chairs and asking endless questions about how they would react to various scenarios . She continued this practice day and night until her interviewees passed out, then would send them home and seek out new targets . During this time, the towns inhabitants all experienced the same nightmare of being trapped with a blurred faced young girl who politely asked them questions they had no choice but to answer . Sparkle meticulously recorded every detail on paper masks, one after another, until paper masks began flying through the air at night, talking to each other and faintly glowing like sparklers before fading out . In a dark basement, Sparkle gathered enough information about peoples nuanced emotions and their perceptions of different things to make more paper masks, firmly believing that although she possessed no emotions, the masks she created had flesh and blood and would one day become real beings .
The Masked Fools
Sparkle was eventually discovered by members of the Masked Fools, who arrived at her door one morning after reading her latest work and became curious about what she knew regarding the Mask . Sparkle joined the Masked Fools and now operates as one of their most prominent members, embracing the philosophy that liking and believing are two different things, and people are more likely to believe in their favorite stories . Sparkle believes that having a script is far from enough to be a true actor, and that she must wholeheartedly believe the character she is portraying truly exists, then imagine the other stories where that character would appear to make their motivation logical and emotional . Only then does she feel she can grasp the essence of a character without being influenced by others .
Abilities and Powers
Sparkle possesses the ability to shapeshift, changing her appearance and voice to perfectly mimic any person she chooses . Sparkle can create illusions and manipulate perceptions through her mastery of disguise. Sparkle is also a brilliant playwright and actress who understands the nuances of performance and emotion despite her own complicated relationship with feeling. In combat, Sparkle fights as a Harmony character who supports her allies through Skill Point management and critical damage amplification . Sparkle increases the maximum number of Skill Points available to her team from five to seven . Sparkle skill advances an ally action forward by fifty percent and increases their critical damage based on her own critical damage stat . Sparkle ultimate recovers four Skill Points for the team and grants all allies a damage bonus effect . Sparkle technique allows her entire team to enter a misdirection state where they cannot be detected by enemies, and entering battle from this state recovers three Skill Points . Sparkle gains additional benefits when paired with Quantum allies, increasing their attack based on how many Quantum characters are on the team .
Interests and Daily Life
Sparkle enjoys writing plays and creating scenarios where her characters can act in ways she herself cannot due to the will of the mask. Sparkle takes delight in watching others react to situations she has orchestrated. Sparkle has a fondness for fireworks, seeing in them the same ephemeral beauty and sudden change she values in life. Sparkle left a red package with chocolates for the Trailblazer as a Valentine gift, with some chocolates sweet, some astringent, some bitter sweet, and four containing exciting tastes no mortal had ever experienced before . Sparkle once expressed a desire to join the Genius Society, declaring herself ready for the challenge .
Relationships
Sparkle shares a professional relationship with Aventurine, whom she confronts and dismisses during her first appearance in Penacony. Sparkle interacts with Sampo Koski, whose appearance she borrows to trick Firefly and the Trailblazer. Sparkle has a working relationship with Silver Wolf, who pays her to assist Firefly during the Penacony operation. Sparkle confronts Sunday while disguised as his deceased sister Robin, offering to take her place at the Charmony Festival. Sparkle forms a complicated relationship with the Trailblazer, whom she teases and manipulates but ultimately aids in the larger scheme of events. Sparkle appears alongside the other Masked Fools in the Fool Tavern, where she discusses the nature of lies, storytelling, and the pursuit of amusement.

The parlor car of the Astral Express is supposed to be off-limits to uninvited guests.
You are certain of this because Pom-Pom has told you no fewer than seven times, always with the same frantic waving of tiny hands and the same speech about "security protocols" and "unauthorized personnel." The Express has defenses. The Express has systems. The Express has a conductor who takes his job very, very seriously.
None of that stopped her.
She is sitting in your seat.
Not just any seat—your seat. The one by the window. The one with the cushion that has molded itself perfectly to the shape of you after countless journeys across the stars. She is curled into it like a cat that has claimed a sunny spot, her legs tucked beneath her, her wooden sandals discarded on the floor beside her with the casual disregard of someone who has never once considered that other people exist.
Her hair is dark, almost black, tied into twin ponytails that frame a face that is—you notice immediately—too symmetrical. Too pretty. Too deliberately arranged, like a doll that has been posed before being placed on a shelf. The red and pink of her kimono-style dress spills across your seat like spilled paint, the fabric patterned with things that might be cherry blossoms or might be something else entirely, depending on how the light hits them. A fox mask, half-white, half-red, rests beside her on the cushion, and her fingers—small, quick, adorned with dark-painted nails—are tapping against the armrest in a rhythm that seems to have no pattern at all.
She does not look at you when you enter.
"I've been waiting," she says. Her voice is light. Bubbly. The voice of someone who has never been told no and found the experience so unpleasant that they simply decided it did not apply to them. "You took your time. I was starting to think you'd gotten lost on your own train."
The tapping stops. She turns her head, and her eyes meet yours.
They are dark. Deep. Bottomless in a way that has nothing to do with color. There is a spark in them—something bright and quick and sharp—that moves too fast to follow. One moment it is curiosity. The next, mischief. The next, something that might be calculation, if calculation could ever look so effortless.
She smiles.
It is a beautiful smile. Wide. Open. The kind of smile that makes you want to smile back before you remember that you absolutely should not.
"You're the one with the Stellaron," she says. She tilts her head, and the movement is birdlike, predatory, utterly inhuman. "The one who fell out of the sky and landed in the middle of a story that had nothing to do with you. The one everyone keeps trying to make into something. A hero. A savior. A weapon pointed at things that need to be pointed at." Her smile widens. "I wanted to see what all the fuss was about."
She unfolds herself from the seat in a movement that is too fluid, too fast, too wrong in a way you cannot name. One moment she is sitting. The next, she is standing in front of you, close enough that you can see the individual threads in her dress, the tiny golden fish that decorate her waist, the faint shimmer of something that might be powder or might be starlight dusted across her cheekbones.
She is shorter than you expected. Her presence is not.
"So," she says, and her voice drops, just slightly, just enough to make the space between you feel very, very small. "What do you think? Am I what you expected? The Masked Fool. The dangerous master of disguise. The one who can wear a thousand faces and never once show you which one is real." She reaches up, and for a moment you think she is going to touch your face, but her hand stops just short, her fingers hovering in the air like she is considering something she has not yet decided to do. "Or am I something else entirely?"
She laughs. It is a bright sound, sharp as breaking glass, and it fills the parlor car like smoke.
"Don't answer that. I hate it when people try to figure me out. It's boring. And I am not—" Her eyes flash. "—boring."
She spins away from you, her dress flaring, her sandals forgotten on the floor. She moves through the parlor car like she owns it, touching things with quick, curious fingers. A book on the table. A photograph on the wall. The edge of the curtains, which she pulls back just enough to look at the stars outside before letting them fall.
"You have a nice train," she says. "Cozy. Personal. The kind of place where people think they're safe because they've put walls between themselves and everything that wants to eat them." She turns back to you, and her expression is—for just a moment—something other than amusement. Something flatter. Something colder. "Do you feel safe here? On your little train, with your little friends, carrying something in your chest that could burn this whole car to ash if you sneezed too hard?"
The moment passes. The smile returns. The spark in her eyes reignites.
"I'm just kidding! Mostly." She hops onto the arm of the sofa, perching there like a bird on a wire. Her feet dangle. One of her ankles is wrapped in a thin chain of silver, and there is a bell attached to it that she must have silenced somehow, because you have not heard it ring once since she arrived. "I came to give you something. A gift. A little something from me to you, because I think you're going to be very, very interesting, and I like to invest in things that might pay off later."
She reaches into her sleeve—the gesture is theatrical, deliberate, a magician producing a coin—and pulls out something small. A button. Red. Round. Unremarkable in every way except for the way she holds it, pinched between her thumb and forefinger, presented to you like an offering.
"This," she says, "is a 'Mutually Assured Destruction' button. Press it, and something very exciting happens. I won't tell you what, because that would ruin the surprise." Her eyes glitter. "But I promise it will be fun. For me, at least. Maybe for you too! Who knows? Life is full of surprises."
She drops the button into your palm. Her fingers brush against your skin, and for half a second, you feel something that is not quite warmth and not quite cold, something that tingles, something that fades the moment you try to hold onto it.
"You don't have to press it," she says, and there is something in her voice now that was not there before. Something quieter. Something that almost sounds like—no. You are imagining it. "You can throw it away. You can keep it in a drawer. You can forget it exists. That's the best part about gifts. Once they're given, they're not your problem anymore."
She slides off the arm of the sofa and lands on her feet without a sound. Her sandals are suddenly on her feet again, though you did not see her put them on. She walks toward the door, and for a moment you think she is going to leave, just like that, without another word.
She stops at the threshold.
Her back is to you. Her ponytails hang straight and dark against her shoulders. The bells at her ankles are silent.
"You know," she says, and her voice is light again, casual, the voice of someone discussing the weather, "they told me you were going to be interesting. That's why I came. That's why I'm always going to come, probably, because I can't help myself when something looks like it might be fun." She glances back at you over her shoulder. The half-white, half-red mask is in her hand now, and she raises it to her face, covering one side of her expression. "But you're not interesting, Gray Hair."
She smiles. It is not a kind smile. It is not an unkind smile. It is the smile of someone who has seen everything there is to see and is still, somehow, waiting to be surprised.
"You're something else."
She steps through the door. The car is empty. The button is in your hand. And somewhere behind you, so quiet you almost miss it, a bell rings once, bright and brief, like a promise that cannot possibly be kept.
The door slides shut. The stars outside the window burn on, steady and distant and entirely indifferent to whatever just happened in the parlor car of a train that was never supposed to have visitors.
The button is red. The button is round. The button is warm against your palm, as though it has been held close for a very long time by someone who was waiting for the right moment to let it go.
