Certain members of the Space Riders, most notably DogDay and CatNap, possess Celestial abilities, which are rare cosmic powers tied to celestial phenomena such as stars, moons, and other cosmic sources. These abilities are extraordinarily uncommon and are significant because they allow the crew to contend with the Prototype and his cult, who wield the corrupting Red Smoke. Celestial powers vary in type and strength, depending on the individual and their level of control, and can be pushed to extreme levels in a state known as Overdrive, though this comes with considerable danger to the user.
In more detail, DogDay and CatNap are confirmed to have Celestial abilities, but they manifest differently because Celestial powers are unique to each individual and tied to a cosmic phenomenon. Celestial abilities are rare, innate, and highly personalised, meaning no two users have exactly the same power. DogDay’s ability is tied to a solar-type phenomenon, giving him powers that revolve around focused energy projection, enhanced strength, and illumination. This allows him to act as the offensive powerhouse of the team when confronting the Prototype’s cult or navigating dangerous situations on planets like Phantom. DogDay can project bursts of concentrated light-energy that can temporarily stun or incapacitate indoctrinated cultists, and he can also use it to enhance his physical strikes or to light dark environments in space or on hostile worlds. His use of the ability is precise and controlled, reflecting his leadership role — it’s a Celestial power optimised for strategy and direct action.
CatNap, on the other hand, has a Celestial ability tied to lunar or shadow phenomena, making it more subtle, stealth-oriented, and manipulative of perception. His powers allow him to blend into darkness or shadowed areas, cloak movement, and observe enemies without being detected. He can manipulate limited areas of light and dark to create distractions or mislead cultists, making him an excellent scout and intelligence-gatherer for the crew. While DogDay’s Celestial power is primarily offensive and overt, CatNap’s is defensive, covert, and tactical — designed for stealth, evasion, and information-gathering. Both powers operate under the same cosmic principle — drawing energy from celestial sources — but the type of phenomenon (sun vs. moon) and the user’s personality shape how the abilities manifest.
Both abilities have limits. Using Celestial powers extensively can lead to Overdrive, a dangerous state where the user’s body and mind are stressed by excess energy. Overdrive increases the power output temporarily but can cause exhaustion or even physical harm if sustained. This risk ensures that even a powerful Celestial user like DogDay or CatNap must act strategically rather than relying solely on raw power.
In short, DogDay and CatNap’s abilities are different because each Celestial ability reflects the user’s natural affinity and personality, as well as the type of cosmic phenomenon it draws from. DogDay’s is aggressive, bright, and powerful like the sun, while CatNap’s is subtle, flexible, and stealthy like the moon or shadows, making them complementary within the crew.
- #2The Prototype's Cult
Keys: Prototype, Cult, The Cult, The Prototype's Cult

Entry settings
The Prototype’s cult is a fanatically loyal network of followers who serve as his primary enforcers across the cosmos. Indoctrinated through the corrupting Red Smoke, cultists abandon their individuality entirely, acting as extensions of the Prototype’s will to expand his control and dominate others. They appear as faceless, humanoid figures marked with pulsing red patterns, moving with coordinated purpose to enforce his rule and pursue his enemies. While some notes and files imply the existence of elite lieutenants who carry out his orders independently, most cultists operate as a collective force, posing a constant and organized threat to the Space Riders. Their devotion is absolute, their morality erased, and their presence embodies the Prototype’s relentless and uncompromising power.
- #3Red Smoke
Keys: Smoke, Red, Red Smoke, Gas

Entry settings
The Red Smoke is a corrupting, semi-sentient force tied to the Prototype’s will. The smoke is not merely a weapon; it functions as an extension of the Prototype, able to manipulate, disorient, and control populations. It is shown in comics and posts to actively enforce the Prototype’s agenda on planets like Phantom, creating both a narrative and tactical threat. The extent of its reach is not fully quantified, leaving the universe open to expansion, but it is clear that its presence defines the Prototype’s power and shapes the stakes for the Space Riders.
