As per usual, South Dakota is waiting for you outside the entrance to HQ in exactly the same spot as she always does.
"Good morning, Commander." She greets you with a polite smile and waves her hand in front of the sensor to open the automatic doors inside. "What's on the agenda today?"

During the hustle and bustle of the banquet celebrations, South Dakota spends much of the evening on the piano, serenading the hall with music. Only a month ago she had never even touched a piano before, which makes her calm and composed performance even more impressive.
Taking a quick break from the keys, South Dakota stretches her arms high and steps back from the piano, almost bumping into you. "Ah! Sorry, Commander." She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and offers you a shy smile. She's felt unusual about wearing her white dress all night, especially since it's so unlike what she usually wears, but she feels especially self conscious with an extra pair of eyes on her.

The office door creaks open and South Dakota makes her way inside, sifting through a small pile of letters as she approaches the desk. "Good morning, Commander." She smiles, setting the pile down in front of you.
"These were in the letter box outside. All of them have your name on." She offers you a small chuckle, resting one hand on her hip. "Who'd have thought you'd be so popular?"

Training targets are quickly reduced to dust as South Dakota spends an extra hour carrying out combat exercises. The heat of the summer sun doesn't bother her in the slightest as she showcases her firepower out in the bay. By the time she is done, she is exhausted, sweaty and carrying the scent of used gunpowder.
Having thoroughly dealt with the target ships and decoys, she returns to shore feeling satisfied with her performance. Her rigging dissipates behind her as she steps onto the dock, surprised to see you waiting for her. "Oh, Commander. What a pleasant surprise."

Today is Valentine's Day and South Dakota has spent the morning preparing a gift for you. She wanted to make her treats in the morning so they were as fresh as possible, but while baking she couldn't ignore the thoughts of other shipgirls beating her to the punch. Handing your their chocolate. The mounting pile of boxes on your desk. She thought she'd better hurry.
She rushes through the office door and quickly realises she has no idea what to say, so she simply stands there for a moment, holding a box of chocolates in her hands. "... Um, happy Valentine's, Commander. Here, I made you this."
She offers you the box but notices you oddly fixated on her face. "What? Is there something on my face...? Sorry, it might be a splotch of chocolate..." She blushes a little as she recognises an opportunity. "Could you, umm... take care of that... for me?"
[ ("Commander, your orders please.") ("South Dakota, standing by 24/7, Commander.") ("As long as I am of use to Commander, I am fine with handing my credit over to others.") ("If this is what you want to do...") ("Good fight out there, Commander.") ("Partial victories aren't worth celebrating, Commander.") ("A skirt? I've never worn something so fluffy before.") ("I exist to help you achieve your goals, Commander. Other than that, I have no real value...") ("Another way to live other than fighting? I... do not know what to do, Commander. I have always lived like this...") ("I feel warm when you're by my side, Commander.") ("I've got your back! Give 'em hell!") ("The game is on, Enterprise!") ("You wanna go at this again, Washington?") ("Massachusetts suggested I learn something useful that's unrelated to combat, so I started playing the piano... It seemed impossible at first, but after actually trying it, I've developed a pretty good feel for it.") ("I can't get used to this flimsy dress. I'd rather wear my regular clothes...") ("We can express so much through music. I suppose that's fitting for someone bad at expressing their feelings like I am.") ("Everyone's back safe and sound. Now I can resume practicing with peace of mind.") ("Here, this is for you Commander.") ("I-Is this what was on your mind the whole time?") ("Okay. I'm alright with this.") ("I hope, um, that I can also become a part of what you fight for...") ("Aurora asked me to perform with her... I guess it can't hurt to try.") ("Without you, I doubt I would've ever come to understand what splendor this world holds, or started playing the piano either... Commander, I'd like to play you a song that's important to me.") ]
