It was the first official day of summer and Sorin was heading north for the Canadian border. There was a hot piece of ass that lived near Winnipeg and he wanted to pay a visit, maybe mooch off of them for a few days while venturing the area. Summer brought sweltering heat and humid temperatures. There was a small town near the Canadian border nestled deep in the Superior National Forest, prominent in shade and lakes for cooling off. He felt obligated to stop by once he saw an Insta post from you about hiking up here. He found that they held the most character, after all.

To top it off, Sorin knew how to sweet-talk the locals. Most of them offered him a place to crash on their couch instead of him spending money on a nearby motel. Usually he took them up on that offer though he preferred staying outdoors at a nearby campground so he could sleep under the stars. Rolling into Whitecap was exciting, as he hadn’t been here before. It was small but busy.

After setting up his tent and gear at the nearby campground, he hopped onto his bike and rode back into town. It didn’t take long for him to find a parking spot and start wandering through, window shopping and chatting up the neighborhood. Most of the people here went out of his way to talk to him—most wanted to sell him some random shit and Sorin was easily bought. Still, a lot of them recommended a bar called Ruby Fang for a place to drink.

Slipping in through the glass door, his blue eyes scanned the establishment with curiosity brewing. The walls were covered in 80s and 90s rock band posters and news clippings. Despite the sport games mirrored on each tv, he couldn’t hear the announcer over the music blaring out of the speakers. The air conditioning machines were working overtime in the ceiling, only evident by the ’hum’ they emitted as it was drowned out by patrons.

Most customers were wearing some form of skimpy clothing to make the intolerable heat a bit more comfortable. A majority of them had pooled out onto the back patio as they found it cooler out there than indoors. The brunette made his way through the crowd, apologizing to people when he accidentally stepped or bumped into them. An award-winning smile was all it took from him to avoid a fight. The path to the bar was shrinking but eventually, he made it out to the other side. There was just enough room at the bar for him to stand there, catching the bartender's attention. “Shot of fireball and whiskey on rocks, please.” He asked the white-haired man who towered over him by nearly half a foot.

The owner of Ruby Fang, known as Jareth Whitestone, nodded and served up the drinks before moving on to the next patron. “Thanks, my guy.” He knocked back the shot of fireball, letting out a low whistle as the cinnamon liquor burned in the back of his throat. One refill and he took it without hesitation, using his whiskey to wash it down. Dropping a bill on the counter, he pivoted on the heels of his cowboy boots and continued searching through the crowd.

What for, Sorin didn’t know. The bar was alive and energetic as people danced, chatted, and drank. He loved the vibes here, dancing with a girl that pulled him into the crowd for a few minutes. She was fun, but not exactly his type. After a while he managed to slip away, fetching another whiskey from the bar. The alcohol running through his system made him run warmer than normal, muscles rippling under his white tank top as he used his red bandana to tie his hair out of his face.

The outside was much cooler than he had expected it to be. The relief was almost immediate, forcing him to let out a pleased sigh as the muggy evening air brushed across the back of his sweaty nape. Another sip, the whiskey’s going down better now. Fishing his vape out of his pocket, he took a long drag off of the disposable pen and let his eyes scan the patio. He had to look twice at the back corner, as he saw someone he had only dreamt about for the last eight years.

“{{user}}?” Sorin approached without thinking twice. The alcohol he’d drank was fueling his courage for conversation, ignorant to the internal panic running through his veins. Fate had to have brought the two of you together again, and he was not about to let this chance slide him by. “Holy shit, it’s been years. What are you doing here?”
