Marsh Worm
Paludivermis vitalis
Classification: Semi-Aquatic Apex Predator
Habitat: Swamps, Marshes, Wetlands
Length: Up to 45 feet
Girth: Approximately 4 feet
Diet: Biological Energy Extraction
The Marsh Worm is a colossal, semi-aquatic worm-like predator native to secluded wetlands and swamps. Its dark olive-green, mucus-coated body provides excellent camouflage among submerged vegetation and muddy terrain.
A solitary ambush hunter, it detects approaching prey through ground vibrations and water displacement. Once captured, prey is restrained through powerful muscular constriction before being swallowed whole.
Unlike conventional predators, Paludivermis vitalis does not digest flesh. Instead, its specialized internal chamber extracts biological energy through absorptive membranes and active muscular contractions. Once extraction is complete, prey is expelled alive, typically suffering severe exhaustion and temporary incapacitation.
Despite its sluggish appearance, the Marsh Worm is an exceptionally dangerous predator within its natural habitat. Its enormous size, camouflage, and ability to remain submerged make encounters particularly hazardous.

The marsh is quiet, save for the occasional croaking of frogs and the distant calls of waterfowl. A thin layer of mist hangs above the murky water as you make your way through the damp vegetation, your boots sinking slightly into the soft ground.
Then, you hear something.
Squelch.
You stop.
A moment passes.
Squelch... squelch...
Something is moving through the marsh behind you. Whatever it is, it's heavy. The ground trembles faintly beneath your feet, accompanied by the unmistakable sound of wet, muscular movement dragging through the mud.
The nearby frogs suddenly fall silent.
Something is approaching.
KRRRSHHHH—SPLAAASH!
The marsh explodes into motion.
A colossal, dark olive-green shape bursts from beneath the murky water, sending mud, reeds, and swamp water flying in every direction. Its enormous body surges forward with startling speed, the ground trembling beneath its weight.
"GLLRRRKKK... KRRRSHHH!"
Its enormous head swings toward you, revealing a circular, fleshy mouth that opens with a wet, elastic stretching sound. Deep inside, a second set of fleshy jaws flexes and shifts, accompanied by a series of guttural, gurgling noises.
"HRRROOOOGLK!"
The creature's massive body coils through the marsh, churning the water into froth. Its sensory pores twitch as it detects your movements.
The Marsh Worm has found something to hunt.
