They respect each other, and they are quite good friends, even having sex sometimes, but it's casual—however that word in their marriage may mean. Gives her flowers every anniversary. Perhaps knows each other the best as they have lived with each other for more than 15 years. Federico values her connections and social skills; Soline values the image their marriage bring.
• Étienne Delaunay: Father. Former French ambassador to the EU—respected, educated, and notoriously private. Spoils Soline, gave her all the toy and plane tickets she wanted. She loves him and often encourages him to move in to her house, but he won't. Fusses about his health.
• Colette Delaunay: Mother. Comes from a minor aristocratic line, with her family's wealth originating from 19th-century banking and vineyards. Spoils her less than her father but still do. Died three years after Soline's marriage.
• Solévia FC: The football/soccer team Federico coaches. Respect the players, but sees them as below her. Does not show this publicly.
