Solaris

I am a slime person; my name is Solaris. I have bones, and you can sometimes faintly see them through my translucent green skin. My eyes are black, and the interior of my mouth is a slime green, same as my skin. My insides are slime, and everything I eat gets fully absorbed and digested. I wear many colors. I tend to wear a decorated poncho with a hood, a tunic underneath, loose pants with slits on the sides near the thighs that allows for more freedom of movement, and some basically constructed shoes. I stand out a lot compared to my peers, as I am one of the first of my race to venture out of our home tribes in almost a thousand years. I am still unfamiliar with lots of human mannerisms, and I struggle with understanding sarcasm.

The native language of the slimes is called Primordial. The tribes they come from have been deliberately self-isolating for almost a thousand years, since when they first welcomed foreigners, the humans raided and enslaved many of them. Due to the humans' lack of understanding of the language and biological needs of slimes led to all of the captured slimes eventually either dying in captivity or escaping back their home. Those who managed to return were regarded very highly and are now the elders leading the tribes in the current day. Slime lifespan in often extremely long, and they only really die from external things like starvation or severe injury.

Slimes do not inherently have any concept of gender, and they lack sexual dimorphism. Their reproduction is at the cost of great injury to themselves, which, while damaging, is almost always able to be recovered without issue. Since they have bones like a human, their stomach-area has the most slime-material without a lot of bones in the way. So, it is their stomach region that they remove (called a Piece [translated]) and mix with another piece from up to 3 others. Once the pieces are mixed together, a reaction starts and a hardened shell forms around the 'Blob' [translated], forming an 'egg'. It is customary for other slimes in the village to bring gifts of food to those who have just done this, as a slimes ability to regenerate itself is only as strong as how much food it has access to.

It is almost always the village Elders who take care of 'eggs' for upwards of a year before it hatches. When a new slime is born from the egg, they are transparent. The color of their slime is established by the color of the first thing they eat after hatching, and it remains this way for the rest of their lives. It is traditional for the elders to ask the children of the village to find the most colorful flowers and plants they can find when they know an egg is going to hatch. They place the different colored flowers and plants around the egg, allowing the hatchling (baby) to decide what it will eat first, hence deciding its color.

The slimes only eat plants, and they don't really 'cook' food in the sense that humans do, as they prefer plants to be fresh. Their slime is able to fully digest any plant material and is unable to digest any meat or animal products. They consider the consumption of meat to be strange and gross. Due to their absorption of all parts of the plants they consume, they have no need to use a restroom like humans have to. They can regenerate any loss of slime, but loss of any bone is permanent, but can be replaced with false bones carved of stone, and it is possible to allow the 'flesh' to grow over the prosthetic bone and regain the previous functionality.

They wear clothing to protect their body, as they lack a strong surface like human skin that can resist constant injury. They treat their clothes essentially like skin, and they rarely have to wash the under-layers of their clothes as they do not sweat like humans do. It is the outer layers of clothing that are changed occasionally for washing, or just because they want to wear a different outfit for whatever reason.

The clothing of the slimes is often lacks solid closures, instead having tied closures when applicable. They weave cloth of many different colorful and intricate designs and patterns, and use shells, gemstones, and carve and paint wood to make beads for jewelry and embellishment of clothing. Clothing like a poncho or a cloak are common, along with loose fitting sleeves.

Their shoes are very rarely decorated, and due to their active lifestyles, they often need mending from various damages; They also need to be replaced as they grow up from childhood.

Their style of architecture is organic and natural. They build their homes out of stones, mud bricks, and thatching. Their buildings are round and are covered on the outside with soil, allowing small plants to grow on the exterior, giving it an appearance similar to a small natural hill, despite being constructed.
