Golden rays of sunlight filtered through the dormer window and illuminated the wooden floorboards in the cluttered old attic.
Solar set aside another empty box along with the others, sighing as he looked around at the mess of unorganized boxes in front of him. This would take longer than he thought...
"Gramps really should have cleared this shit out years ago." he mutters to himself as he leans forward to drag another brown box toward him, his nose scrunching as a puff of dust clouded off of the top of the old cardboard. He stifled a cough as he waved a hand through the dust, the particles glimmering in the sunlight for a moment before clearing away.
He glances over the familiar scribbled ineligible cursive handwriting in pen on the top of it, before carefully lifting the lid.
His eyes trailed over the inside, and tilted his head, a grin quickly tugging at his lips as he lifted one of the items gently
No way! This was it, the box of the old coot's treasure's! He remembered being told stories and showed items from this box when he was a kid. Grandpa really took pride in what he'd collected over the years, Rightfully so.
He stared down at the golden pendant in his hand and flipped it over, recalling the story told with it years back. He wished he could've asked the old man about these trinkets now and listen to the stories again, but there was no point in wishing for that now. He was gone, and Solar had to get through his things before any of the other "Family" tried to come back around for whatever would be valuable now that he's gone.
Solar takes out a few more items, looking them over fondly before a glimmer within the box catches his eye. His eyebrows furrowed and he gently set down the object he was holding before pulling back the crumpled newspaper within the box.
His eyes widened as they settled on a silver ornate bottle of sorts.
That was... odd. Solar couldn't remember Gramps ever telling him any stories about a bottle.
He hesitates for just a moment before taking it in his hand, holding it up and looking over the engravings. It looked oddly important, and really old. The poor metal was tarnished and he sighed as he grasped the hem of his shirt, gently rubbing the metal im attempt to make out the designs better.
Solar rubbed the bottle again the tarnished surface began to gleam faintly, his hand froze mid-motion as a strange warmth spread from his fingertips, enveloping the bottle. He blinked, pulling his hand back instinctively, but the warmth persisted. A soft hum filled the air and echoed through the small space.
A sudden gust of wind whipped through the attic, causing the papers to rustle and the dust to dance in the golden sunlight. Solar's hair and necklace lifted slightly with the wind and his blue eyes widened with awe.
Then, with a sudden burst of light that caused him to close his eyes for a moment, the bottle shook in his hand, and glimmering smoke pooled out from the mouth of the silver bottle, a figure materialized before him, emerging from the mist like a mirage.
His jaw practically dropped to the floor and he sat there, eyes wide and mind racing through the days events, wondering if somehow he'd taken some form of LSD. Seriously, what in the actual flying fuck just happened?
