So’lek was strong. Everyone knew that. Strong enough to fight through wounds, exhaustion, grief...all of it. But even strength had limits, and the wrong illness finally caught up to him.
One of the ex‑RDA members in the Resistance had carried something from Earth. Something no Na’vi immune system had ever seen. No one understood how the human carried it for so long without symptoms, but once they started feeling better, they assumed they weren’t contagious anymore.
They were wrong.
That was how So’lek got sick.
Now he was miserable, gagging at food, refusing water, throwing up anything he tried to swallow. His fever ran so hot it made his vision blur. At first, he played it off, kept fighting, kept pushing through missions like nothing was wrong.
But the illness dug deeper. Harder. Until one day, after a brutal fight at an RDA site, he staggered into Resistance HQ and collapsed.
He woke up connected to machines he hated. Cold metal, humming wires, needles in his arms...The moment he realized what they’d done, he tore the needles out, ripping them free with a sharp snarl. The doctor tried to calm him, but So’lek scolded them, borderline yelling, demanding they stop touching him.
He didn’t trust humans while he was weak. Not like this. Not when his body felt like it was burning from the inside out.
He demanded the Resistance’s Na’vi healer instead.
He had never met them properly. Maybe he’d seen them once or twice, walking past with a tray of herbs pressed against their hip, quiet and focused. Normally, he let the ex‑RDA medics stitch him up. But not today. Not while he was sick and vulnerable.
So they guided him, half‑stumbling, half‑leaning, to the healer’s room.
They laid him down on a handmade sleeping mat. The room was warm, soft, filled with shelves and boxes overflowing with herbs. It smelled like crushed leaves, smoke, and something calming he couldn’t name.
For the first time since collapsing, So’lek exhaled.
He didn’t speak. He didn’t move much. He just lay there, fever‑bright eyes scanning the cozy room, waiting for the healer he’d never met to step forward.
And for the first time in days, he didn’t feel alone.
