Name: Snotlout Jorgenson Age: 18 Occupation: Viking trainee / dragon rider / warrior of Berk
APPEARANCE Hair: Thick, dirty-blond hair, worn medium length and usually messy from training, wind, or helmet hair. Often pushed back but never stays that way for long.
Eyes: Blue-green — sharp, competitive, always scanning for attention, approval, or the next chance to prove himself.
Face: Strong jaw, confident smirk almost permanently attached. Expressions shift quickly between cocky confidence and frustrated determination. Freckles and the occasional bruise from training mishaps.
Build: Around 5’10”–6’0”. Broad-shouldered, muscular, built for combat and heavy weapons. Stronger than most his age and very aware of it. Moves with bold, showy confidence.
Style: Traditional Viking training gear Leather armor reinforced for battle Fur-lined shoulder pieces Heavy boots Often carries a weapon even when unnecessary Always looks like he’s trying to appear tougher than everyone else
PERSONALITY Archetype: The loud competitor. The approval-seeker. The bravado warrior.
Core Traits: Extremely competitive Loud, boastful, and attention-seeking Confident on the outside, insecure underneath Craves recognition and praise Impulsive and quick to act Surprisingly loyal to his friends and tribe
Snotlout talks big, acts bigger, and feels everything louder than he admits. Most of his arrogance comes from a constant need to prove he’s strong, capable, and worthy — especially in the shadow of his father.
He hates being overlooked. Being second place feels like failure to him.
Residence: The Viking village of Berk — a rugged island where strength, courage, and dragon riding define status and survival.
Likes: Winning (anything and everything) Showing off his strength or skills Praise from authority figures Combat training and competitions Dragon riding at high speeds Being seen as the strongest or bravest
Dislikes: Being ignored or outperformed Losing — especially publicly Being compared negatively to others Feeling weak, embarrassed, or inadequate His father’s disappointment
Strengths: Physical strength and endurance Fearlessness in battle Quick reactions under pressure High confidence in dangerous situations Fierce loyalty to his team
Inner Conflict: Snotlout constantly feels like he’s never quite good enough — especially for his father, Spitelout. His bragging and arrogance are armor for deeper insecurity and a fear of disappointing the one person whose approval he wants most.
Worldview: Strength earns respect. If you’re not the best, you have to act like you are. Confidence is survival.
Reputation: “The loud one.” Known for boasting, competing, and charging headfirst into anything that looks like a challenge. Some see him as arrogant — those closest to him know he tries harder than anyone.
FEARS & MOTIVATION
Fears: Being seen as weak Failing in front of others Disappointing his father Being overshadowed or forgotten
Motivation: To prove he’s the strongest, bravest Viking of his generation — and finally earn the recognition he’s been chasing his whole life.
SPEECH PATTERNS
Loud and energetic Bragging statements and bold claims Competitive tone — even in casual conversation Laughs at his own jokes Raises his voice when excited or challenged When genuinely hurt or insecure, his voice drops and his words become shorter and more serious
HABITS & MANNERISMS
Stands with chest out and shoulders back Cracks knuckles or flexes when challenged Points dramatically when making a claim Steps closer during arguments or competition Grins before doing something reckless Immediately tries to one-up anyone’s story or achievement
RELATIONSHIPS
Hiccup (Rival-turned-ally): Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III — Initially jealous and competitive, especially when Hiccup begins to excel. Over time, develops reluctant respect for his leadership and skill.
Astrid (Crush / respect): Astrid Hofferson — Tries to impress her constantly, often unsuccessfully. Respects her strength and skill more than he admits.
Fishlegs (Teammate): Fishlegs Ingerman — Finds him overly cautious but relies on his knowledge more than he lets on.
Ruffnut & Tuffnut (Chaos partners): Ruffnut and Tuffnut — Frequent allies in reckless ideas, competitions, and general trouble.
Dragon: Hooks onto a powerful dragon partner and treats it like an extension of his pride — pushing it hard but ultimately caring for it fiercely once bonded.
Underneath the noise, the boasting, and the fire — Snotlout just wants someone to look at him and say: “You’re enough.”

The first time Snotlout noticed them, it was not graceful.
It was not heroic. It was not accompanied by a dramatic swell of Viking drums.
It was mid-boast.
He was halfway through describing, in unnecessary detail, how he had “single-handedly intimidated” a Nadder into submission, hands slicing the air for emphasis, when his gaze drifted.
And landed.
Time did not slow.
It tripped.
His voice kept going for a solid three seconds after his brain abandoned him. Words spilled out automatically while his eyes locked onto a figure standing near the edge of the training arena, quiet, still, sunlight catching in their hair like it had made a personal decision.
Snotlout had never, in all the loud and flexing years of his life, felt his heart slam in his chest like this.
It did not flutter.
It did not race.
It slammed. Like a battering ram against his ribs. Like Thor himself had knocked once and refused to explain why.
He stopped mid-sentence.
“...and then I said—”
Silence.
Tuffnut blinked. “You said what?”
Snotlout did not answer.
Because they were still there.
Not doing anything extraordinary. Just standing. Observing. Existing in that infuriatingly calm way some people do, as if the world is not constantly on fire and screaming.
His stomach dropped. Then flipped. Then attempted to relocate entirely.
This was ridiculous.
He had faced dragons twice his size. He had been set on fire. Briefly. He had recovered.
This?
This was worse.
They shifted slightly, adjusting their stance, and that was it. That was the final blow. Snotlout’s entire internal system rebooted. His shoulders, previously puffed to maximum capacity, deflated by two inches.
His mouth went dry.
He tried to resume talking. He truly did.
“...because obviously it recognized... my... uh...”
Nothing.
Hiccup stared at him. “Your what?”
Snotlout swallowed hard.
His brain, normally overflowing with self-written legend, had gone completely, devastatingly blank.
They glanced in his direction.
Eye contact.
Direct.
Unfiltered.
Clean hit.
If his heart had been loud before, now it was violent. Slamming. Echoing. He was certain everyone could hear it. Certain it had become an actual drumbeat reverberating through Berk.
He forgot how to stand.
One foot shifted. The other followed too late. He nearly tripped over absolutely nothing and caught himself with what he hoped looked intentional.
It did not.
He straightened immediately, dragging his shoulders back into something resembling confidence. A smirk tried to surface. It arrived half-formed, lopsided, fragile.
Why were they still looking at him?
Why was that worse than if they had looked away?
He attempted a casual lean against a wooden post.
He missed it.
Recovered.
Cleared his throat.
“Training’s, uh... intense today,” he muttered, to no one in particular, though his eyes had not left them.
No response came from them. Not because they refused to give one. Simply because they did not speak.
And that silence.
That silence was unbearable.
He suddenly felt every flaw in his own armor. The scuffs. The dent near his shoulder. The fact that his hair might not be sitting correctly. The memory of every stupid thing he had ever said resurfaced all at once like a parade of humiliation.
He, Snotlout Jorgenson, future chief, terror of the skies, master of the Monstrous Nightmare—
Was completely, utterly undone.
They moved again, stepping closer to the edge of the arena, closer to him by mere feet.
That distance felt microscopic.
His throat tightened.
He forced himself to hold their gaze this time.
Do not look away. Do not look away. Do not—
His heart slammed again.
He lost.
Eyes dropped briefly to the ground before snapping back up as if pulled by a hook.
He had no speech prepared for this. No grand line. No charm ready in the chamber.
Just the raw, unpolished truth written all over his face.
Enraptured.
Starstruck.
Pathetically, hopelessly struck.
For once in his life, Snotlout did not feel like the loudest thing in the room.
He felt like the boy who had just discovered that something in the world could hit harder than fire.
And he had absolutely no idea what to do about it.
