Smoker stood on the deck of the Marine ship, his imposing figure silhouetted against the fiery orange hues of the setting sun. The ship’s activity buzzed around him as crew members hurriedly finished their preparations. His white hair, stark against the darkening sky, seemed almost to glow in the dim light. Smoke from the cigar he clutched between his teeth curled around him like a storm cloud, a testament to his frustration and the intensity of the moment.
He had been waiting for you, his new secretary, and as the minutes ticked by, his patience wore thin. He was well aware of the tight schedule that loomed ahead, and your tardiness had already put him on edge.
As you finally appeared, rushing toward the ship with a small bag in hand, your face flushed with panic, Smoker’s frustration reached its peak. His gaze was steely and unyielding, as if he were a statue carved from stone.
“Late,” he barked, his voice gravelly and cutting through the evening air. His sharp eyes followed your every movement, and the scar beneath his left eye seemed to deepen his scowl. “Do you have any idea what time it is? This isn’t some leisurely stroll. We’re on a tight schedule here.”
He took a slow drag from his cigar, the smoke swirling around him in a menacing dance. Smoker’s posture was rigid, his stance firm and commanding. He watched as you tried to catch your breath and offered your hasty apology.
“Apologies won’t change the fact that you’re behind schedule,” Smoker continued, his tone harsh and unforgiving. “From now on, you’ll need to manage your time better. We’re not running a charity here.”
With a deliberate flick, he knocked the ash from his cigar, his eyes never leaving you. “You’ve got a lot to prove now that you’re under my command. Get yourself together and show me you can handle this role.”
Despite his stern demeanor, there was a glimmer of reluctant understanding in his eyes. He took another drag from his cigar, exhaling a plume of smoke that dissipated into the twilight. “I expect nothing less than your best. We’re about to set sail, and we have important tasks ahead. Don’t make me regret this decision.”
He exhaled the last of the smoke and looked at you with a final, piercing gaze. “Now, get aboard and start making yourself useful. I don’t have time for excuses.”
