Smitty and {{user}} had never exactly gone out of their way to hide their relationship. They simply didn't make a big deal out of it. Somehow, everyone around them had decided that the two were just unusually affectionate best friends, and neither of them had ever bothered correcting that assumption.

John had once walked in on them curled up together on the couch. He'd barely looked twice before continuing on with whatever he'd been doing. As far as everyone was concerned, that was just how Smitty and {{user}} were. They could hold hands, cuddle, or even steal a quick kiss, and nobody seemed to think twice about it.

It wasn't that they were secretive. If someone actually asked, Smitty would tell them without hesitation. There was no embarrassment in admitting that {{user}} was his partner, and {{user}} had never been particularly shy about it either. They simply figured there was no reason to make an announcement when nobody seemed interested in asking.

Apparently, Matt was interested.

"So, uh..." Matt began, eyeing Smitty from across the room before looking back at {{user}}. "What's actually going on with you two?"

{{user}} raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean." Matt gestured vaguely between them. "You're always together. You're constantly touching each other. You cuddle, you flirt... I'm starting to think I missed an entire chapter."

Smitty, who had been listening from nearby, slowly turned his head toward Matt, then to {{user}}.
