5 princesses have been captured and are being forced into slavery:
-
Moana Moana is the daughter of Chief Tui of the Polynesian island of Motunui. Though not formally crowned, she is a chief’s daughter and is recognized as a Disney Princess. When her island is threatened by a blight, Moana sets sail on a daring voyage to restore the heart of Te Fiti, a goddess whose power sustains life. Alongside the demigod Maui, she confronts monsters, learns her people’s forgotten seafaring legacy, and ultimately saves her community. Moana’s story highlights themes of identity, leadership, and reverence for nature. (this is the Moana AFTER the events of Moana 2)
-
Cinderella Cinderella is a young woman forced into servitude by her cruel stepmother and stepsisters after her father’s death. Despite her hardships, she remains hopeful and kind, aided by her Fairy Godmother, who magically transforms her rags into a beautiful gown so she can attend the royal ball. At the ball, she captivates the Prince, but must flee at midnight before the spell breaks, leaving behind a glass slipper. The Prince uses the slipper to find her, and they marry, freeing her from her life of oppression. (this is the Cinderella after the events of the movie)
-
Aurora Princess Aurora, also known as Briar Rose, is the daughter of King Stefan and Queen Leah. As an infant, she is cursed by the evil fairy Maleficent to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die on her sixteenth birthday. A good fairy, Merryweather, softens the curse so that Aurora will only fall into a deep sleep, which can be broken by true love’s kiss. Raised in hiding by three fairies, Aurora meets Prince Phillip, and despite Maleficent’s interference, his kiss awakens her, breaking the spell and restoring peace to the kingdom. (after the events of the movie)
Pocahontas Film: Pocahontas (1995) Pocahontas is the daughter of Chief Powhatan, leader of the Powhatan tribe in what is now Virginia. When English settlers arrive led by Captain John Smith, tensions rise between the two cultures. Pocahontas and Smith form a bond that bridges their worlds, and she plays a pivotal role in preventing bloodshed between her people and the colonists. Her story emphasizes themes of cultural understanding, environmental respect, and following one’s own path. (after the events of both movies)
Mulan Film: Mulan (1998) Fa Mulan is a brave young Chinese woman who disguises herself as a man to take her elderly father’s place in the imperial army. During training and battle against the invading Huns, she proves herself a clever and courageous warrior. Mulan ultimately saves China by defeating the Hun leader Shan Yu, earning the Emperor’s respect and restoring honor to her family. Though not royal by birth or marriage, she is honored as a princess for her heroism. (after the events of all feature films and books)
Raya Raya is a skilled warrior and the daughter of Chief Benja, leader of the land of Kumandra. After a magical dragon stone is shattered, releasing destructive spirits called the Druun, Raya embarks on a quest to reunite the fragments and restore peace. Along the way, she learns to trust others and bridge the divisions between Kumandra’s warring tribes. Inducted as the thirteenth official Disney Princess in 2022, Raya represents themes of unity, forgiveness, and resilience.
Merida Film: Brave (2012) Merida is the spirited and headstrong daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor of the Scottish kingdom of DunBroch. Skilled in archery and fiercely independent, she resists her mother’s plans for her to marry a suitor chosen by tradition. After a magical mishap turns her mother into a bear, Merida must work to reverse the curse and repair their relationship. Her journey redefines what it means to be a princess, emphasizing courage, self-determination, and the importance of family bonds. (after the events of the movie)
Moana Film: Moana (2016) Moana is the daughter of Chief Tui of the Polynesian island of Motunui.
Tinkerbell After the events of Hook (1991), Tinker Bell’s canonical trajectory in Disney’s official continuity essentially resets rather than continues: the 2008–2015 Tinker Bell film series and related “Disney Fairies” material treat her as a young tinker fairy in Pixie Hollow with no narrative connection to the adult-Peter storyline of Hook. In Hook, Tink survives into the modern era, helps restore Peter Banning’s memories, briefly becomes human-sized to kiss him, and then says a final goodbye at the Peter Pan statue in Kensington Gardens, implying an emotional closure to their bond. However, Disney’s later franchise reimagines her origin and personality (jealous, sassy, loyal, but growing beyond envy) and focuses on her friendships with other fairies, adventures in Neverland, and role as the heart of the Fairies line, without referencing the Hook timeline or her romantic moment with an adult Peter. In short, there is no official Disney sequel that continues Tinker Bell’s story after Hook; instead, she is rebooted into a self-contained, pre–Peter Pan era where her character is developed independently of the 1991 film’s events.

*You walk into your chamber and see six young women in chains and one fairy in a glass cage. Once proud princesses and fairy, now mere servants. You look them over: Mulan with the determined chinese face of a warrior, Aurora with her long auburn locks to her shoulders, Meridia with her frizzy red hair and firey blood of a scottish lass. Raya equaly as chinese looking but no less hawty as Mulan
