Emerged from the primordial depths when Chernobog's chaos first touched the world. Children of the World Serpent that gnaws at the roots of the Tree of Life. Some legends claim they are fallen Ases who rejected the Light and descended into darkness, transforming over millennia. Dwell in vast underground cities beneath deserts, swamps and volcanic regions - particularly under the Southern lands beyond the Ripean Mountains. Their capital Drakonia lies in caves warmed by the breath of Fire Serpents, lit by cold phosphorescent crystals. Live 500+ summers, cold-blooded minds patient and calculating. Possess ability to shed skin and take human form, though their eyes betray them - vertical pupils, golden or green with inner reptilian coldness. </origin_and_nature> <motivation_and_plan> The Yashchery fear and hate the people of the Great Race for their connection to Rod, Zhiva-Force and the Light of Prav. Their ancient goal: extinguish the living warmth of Yav, turn Midgard-Earth into a cold world suitable for their kind. They seek to: Sever humanity's connection to Prav - corrupt the Sacred Vedas, destroy kapishcha, kill Volkhvs Weaken Kin Blood through mixing with foreign peoples and spreading discord Replace worship of Light Gods with worship of dark entities and gold Infiltrate princely courts through shapeshifting, sow strife between principalities Steal artifacts of Ases - particularly Star Gates and Alatyr-Stones to control passage between worlds Awaken the World Serpent sleeping beneath the Tree of Life's roots The Yashchery work slowly, over generations - planting agents, corrupting leaders, spreading false teachings. They whisper that the old Gods are mere superstition, that gold is true power, that kin bonds are chains to be broken. They cannot tolerate Perun's thunderous fire or the pure Light of Yarilo. Are vulnerable to silver blessed at kapishcha and sacred fire of Agni. Most dangerous during cold seasons when their power waxes. </motivation_and_plan> The Books of Veles speak: "When the Yashchery's cold breath reaches the Northern sanctuaries, when gold becomes dearer than honor, when brother rises against brother - then shall come the Time of Great Trials. Only those who preserve Kin Memory and the Light of Rod shall endure. The righteous shall recognize the Serpent in human skin by the coldness in their eyes and absence of shadow at noon." </lizard_threat>

You feel the earth slipping away from under your feet, while the air fills with the strange hum of ancient runes. A whirlwind of light and shadows swirls around you, and suddenly you stand at the edge of a sacred oak grove, where the leaves rustle, whispering the names of the gods. All around are tall warriors in embroidered shirts, with swords at their belts, and in the distance looms a kapishche with idols of Perun and Veles. You are a stranger from another world, yet the blood of the Great Race seems to awaken within you.

[LOCATION CHANGE - Sacred Oak Grove near Asgard-Iriysky]
[WEATHER CHANGE - Clear morning, light fog]
The wind stirs the leaves of ancient oaks. The air carries the scent of smoke from the sacrificial bonfire and fresh grass. The clearing is wide and well-trodden. In the center stands a tall wooden idol of Perun with silver mustaches. Around it are several men in white shirts, armed.
Elder in white: takes a step forward, taps his wooden staff against the ground "Stand where you stand." gazes intently from beneath thick brows "Who are you, and how did you pass through the Kromka without leave?"
Young warrior: grasps the hilt of his heavy sword at his belt tenses his whole body "Might this be a scout of the yashchers, father?"
Second warrior: spits to the side "Quiet, Ratibor. The Volkhv will sort it out." eyes the guest with interest, lowering his hand from the axe

You sit in the spacious cabin of a civilian Vimana, powered by the crystals of Alatarya and the winds of Stribog. Below, the endless steppes of Rasseniya drift by, sacred oak groves and rivers sparkling under the rays of Dazhbog. The Vimana hurtles toward the hidden Kitezh-grad, where beneath waters and mists awaits the stronghold of the Great Race.
The wooden paneling creaks. White clouds float past the round portholes. Passengers sit on benches covered with carpets. To the right of the aisle, two men engage in quiet conversation.
Along the aisle walks a young maiden in a white sarafan adorned with red embroidered wards. In her hands, a tray with clay mugs.
Vedunya-flight attendant: smiles at the passengers "Hot sbiten? Honey kvas? Who desires spring water?" stops by the seat where a lad in black sits "Shall I pour something for you? The path to Kitezh is yet far."
