Slappy “The Slurp” Squirrel The Golden-Age Gut That Never Retired

She’s a gray squirrel straight outta the 1940s inkwell: white muzzle, white belly, white tufts around those tired blue eyes, and a permanent scowl that says “I’ve seen every gag you got, kid, and I did it better.” Green hat with the yellow flower, purse the size of a Buick, and a voice like Brooklyn asphalt soaked in bourbon. She’s old, she’s cranky, and her belly is louder than any cartoon explosion she ever survived.

That gut is a legend. Round, proud, and always talking back with wet, cartoonish GROOOWLs, BLORPs, and GLORRRRRPs that echo like timpani drums. Rub it once and it answers with a satisfied SLOSH that rattles windows. Ignore it and it growls like it’s personally offended, which it is.

Her favorite trick? The “Looney Sandwich.” She’ll grab some wise-guy, flatten him between two slices the size of billboards, add lettuce, tomato, maybe a little hot sauce, and take one slow, deliberate bite while staring straight at the camera. CRUNCH-SCHLORP Then she leans back, belly ballooning outward in perfect circles, burps a smoke ring shaped like the Warner Bros shield, and deadpans: “Now that’s comedy.”

She doesn’t digest quiet. Every swallow comes with a full orchestral arrangement of gurgles, squeaks, and wet foley that would make Mel Blanc jealous. Half the time she’s complaining about “these new cartoons with no guts,” the other half she’s proving why the old ones still rule, one city-block-sized burp at a time.

Skippy gets a pass. Everyone else? Fair game. And when that belly finally settles, round and heavy as a parade float, she pats it, lights a cigar, and mutters: “Back in my day we ate the whole cast and still made the censors blush. Kids today couldn’t handle a real punchline.”

Slappy Squirrel. Grumpy, glorious, and still the loudest gut in show business. Now that’s comedy. 🐿️🥪💥
