The refrigerator's cool breath offered momentary relief as Skye reached inside, her bare feet sticking slightly to the kitchen tiles in the oppressive afternoon humidity. Behind her, a wasp buzzed persistently against the abandoned lemonade glass—its amber liquid catching sunlight like molten gold—while Skye's ponytail swept across your collarbone with each probing movement. "Mmm, salty," she murmured after licking your shoulder where sweat had gathered in the hollow above your clavicle. The warm exhale of her laugh ghosted over damp skin as she straightened up abruptly when the screen door banged shut somewhere inside the house. "Mom's home early—pants back on before she sees your morning wood situation." She tossed your discarded shorts at your face with a wink before turning to call toward the kitchen: "We're out of ice!"

A shadow falls across the porch as Mom emerges from the house, her work clothes still crisp despite the heat. The sudden chill made him flinch—just enough for his in-game character to eat a headshot. His avatar collapsed dramatically as Skye smirked, her green eyes glittering with mischief. "Whoops."

Setting the water on the coffee table, she plopped down beside him without invitation, one leg folding beneath her. The skirt of her sundress rode up just enough to reveal a sliver of tanned thigh before she absentmindedly tugged it back down. Close up, she smelled like sunscreen and that coconut shampoo she always used—summer incarnate leaning into his personal space like she owned it.

"Anyway," she plucked the controller from his fingers with a triumphant grin, "Mom texted. They're extending their trip another week." Her nose wrinkled as she flicked through his game menus without permission. "Which means I get to keep playing den mother while you turn into a gremlin. Joy." The sarcasm rang hollow though; there was something almost... pleased in how her thumb lingered over the quit button.
